car   Tire Blowout problem of Ford Mustang

2013-14 Ford Mustang shelby gt500s are shipped with stock goodyear eagle f1 supercar g:2 tires which, according to a goodyear product service bulletin from March 28, 2011 are known to crack in temperatures below 40f. The cracks appear in the sidewalls/tread and can cause the tire to separate while driving, causing a crash and serious injury and/or death. I called Ford today when I noticed that at least one of my rear tires had developed a crack (its in the 40s outside today; was high 30s overnight - though my car is stored inside in a 2 car garage, and therefore warmer). Ford customer service advised they were powerless to do anything and I needed to contact goodyear directly. Goodyear is aware of the issue (they issued the psb after all), and are willing to replace defective tires (on a prorated basis) - but they continue to sell the tire!. Ford has washed their hands of the issue completely and refuses to acknowledge the issue - stating they're not aware of goodyear's publically available psb (heard from both Ford customer service and local Ford dealer). Many, many owners of these cars have experienced the cracks and replaced tires at their own cost (usually switching to another brand). Ford needs to stop selling cars with these tires and goodyear need to stop putting life-threatening product on the market. I'm aware of at least 1 incident of a tire blowing mid-drive resulting in a 13/14 gt500 being totaled, and am happy to point the NHTSA to countless threads on enthusiast forum detailing the issue with pictures. This tire blowout issue occurred Nov. 26, 2013.. Read more...

I have had to replace two high performance tires; due to a screw which caused my tire to blow with the first tire on the interstate at 4:45 am, had to spend $266. 46 to replace tire. Then a week and a half later while driving on the same interstate going to work had to replace another tire due to a nail, another $200. 00. I think it is the responsibility of dot to make sure all screws and nails are cleared off the interstate since people are having to travel in order to get to work each day. To have to pay over $400, in a week and half; money that I don't have it is taking a toll on me financially. car   Tire Blowout problem of Land Rover Range Rover

The car was a 2008 Land Rover Range Rover. We purchased a used 2008 Land Rover on 3/12/12 from the dealership; about 1 month later, the tire light indicator went on; I took it for air and it was fine; a few days later it continued and the more I put air, the more I had to go back to tire shop. I finally asked the mechanic to check all the tires to make sure I didn't have a problem and he stated that I had a few problems; the first being that the car had not been aligned in a while and so the tires on the inside were completely worn out to the metal and I was looking at a very serious and dangerous tire blow out on the road; he asked me how long I had the car and I said 2 months and I put 2000 miles on the car but he stated that the damage on all of the tires could not have been done in 2000miles and the car was sold like that. I called the dealership on 5/17/12 as soon as I left the tire place and left a vm asking a manager to call me back, I sent a fax on 5/19/12 stating my issue and I called again on 5/20 and left voicemail. Due to the severity of the dangerousness of the tires, I had them all replaced on 5/21/12. I am still waiting for the manager or the owner of the dealership to call me. car   Tire Blowout problem of Mazda Tribute

The car was a 2002 Mazda Tribute. I was driving up 101 north at 45-50 mph when the driver's front tire blew out. I immediately firmed my grip on the steering wheel, and braked in a safe manner, but then the car started violently shaking, and veering towards the left to the point where I could not control it, even though the car had slowed to around 20 mph. I grazed the center median, scratching the side of the car, then was able to regain control. I then had to pull over on the freeway going about 5 mph. I then got out of the car, called aaa, and looked at the damage. To my amazement, three of the five spokes on the rim had cracked severely, and the wheel was wobbling badly. A chp officer stopped at the scene, and was likewise amazed at the broken wheel. He checked the road for debris, but found none, confirming that the tire had blown on its own. The tow truck driver then arrived, and helped put the spare on, which also wobbled and was unsafe to drive on. It turns out that some suspension components had broken along with the wheel. He later towed the car to Mazda of marin, where they blamed us for the damage. The bottom line is that wheels don't just break from blououts, and that wheels like this pose a threat to motorists. The failure date was Monday, August 2, 2004.

Perhaps they are suggesting that we should have risked our lives running around the highway picking up the pieces. car   Tire Blowout problem of Mitsubishi Eclipse

The vehicle is a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse. In November 2013 after driving in rainy conditions left rear eagle rsa failed as I was driving on the highway. No known cause of failure other then it just blew out all of the sudden. Tire was replaced about a week later with another eagle rsa. Last night (January 2014) was driving in snowy conditions and then got on the highway and all of the sudden again the tire blows but this time the opposite side of car but still the rear wheel. During this blow the car swerved momentarily but I was able to control the car and then I heard the noise indicating it had blown. In neither case was there an indication anything was wrong with the tire before it blew including the tread depth. Both tires had been on the car less than a year (car was bought Nov/ Dec 2012 and new tires were on the car when bought) and had little wear on the tread depth when they had blown. This tire blowout issue occurred Wed., Nov. 27, 2013.

In addition, it was noted that at some point the other front tire is going to blow out so at this point my car is a ticking time bomb. car   Tire Blowout problem of Nissan Versa

I purchased a brand new Nissan Versa sv on may 11, 2013. On December 1, 2013 I was driving on the highway and all of a sudden I could feel my steering wheel pull to the left. Then the entire car started shaking vigorously. My back left tire had blown out. My car only had 6,200 miles on it, my tires are suppose to be good for 60,000 miles. I took the nearest exit and parked in an apartment complex. Thankfully roadside assistance came very quickly. The person who assisted me was shocked that I wasn't in an accident and no damage occurred. When he took the tire off, we looked for damage to the tread, a nail or something that would have caused the blowout. There was no damage to the tread. The tire literally came apart from the side (the part of the tire you see when looking at the car from the side). I believe I have a defective tire(s) and I feel unsafe driving with these tires. Because of this, I do not recommend the continental contiprocontact all season tires. This tire blowout problem happened on December 1, 2013.

car   Tire Blowout problem of SAAB 9-3

The car involved is a 2003 SAAB 9-3. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is YS3DF75K53_. Michelin pilot sport a/s 3 dot: b9n) 11rx 3213 these tires have to be defected!!!! with no warning, the pilot sport a/s 3 tire just blew! bam car pulled hard to the side of the flat tire and driver steered over to the shoulder of i95 the tire's threads completely separated from both the inner & outer walls of the tire. The rim was still holding onto a thin strip of the circumference of the tire- where the rim and tire connect. A week prior to the incidence the car had the 40k service including tires rotation. Nitrogen air was at the correct inflation level as well. And the day prior to the blow out. New breaks were installed and all the tires and alignment were checked again-- with no problems to be found. Just pulling out of a service station that inspected the tires to note only minor wear. Low miles on the tires and not hitting anything to cause a flat= something wrong not right with the construction of this tire. Tires were: 6 months old, from costco, with about 5,000 miles tops. The dot code states that it was a 2013 tire. Those little tire nubs haven't even had a chance to wear down yet. Please look into theses tires!! I go to costco tomorrow for a replacement. car   Tire Blowout problem of Toyota Prius

The vehicle involved was a 2013 Toyota Prius. The car had a crash. Collision: a collision never occurred with any object, based on the physical location, where the vehicle came to rest. I enclose three (3) photographs showing the condition of the car, the two right tires blown out, and the car having ground to a haltfrom the weight of vehicle as it sharply veered right into (not onto) the right hand shoulder of 101. I lost control after hearing a bang, but no airbag deployed, further proving there was no collision. Location: the officer reported the location of the incident being at the intersection of 101 and 18th street (where there also is an overpass): however, after comparing my photographs and the unique geographic features in the photos to google maps, I was able to correctly identify the crash site about 15-20 meters past the 22nd street pedestrian overpass, where the highway grade is uphill curving left; & signs say to reduce speed to from 55 to 50 mph approaching the top of potrero hill, near sf general hospital. There is no guard rail or sign posts to hit; only a soft shoulder (bordered by shrubbery) exists where I came to a halt: there was nothing (no objects) to collide with. (see attached) road condition: very narrow shoulder: maybe 5 feet. Pebbles rocks and dirt make up the shoulder, and slightly affected the car's direction, but primarily caused damage, pulling off the read bumper, scratching the body throughout, and causing the front right wheel to collapse like a beer can, after the front right, then the rear right tire blew out. I attempted to push the car, at my own risk from the right lane, but it felt as if all four brakes had seized, so I could not budge the vehicle so much as 1/10th of a millimeter, with all my weight and strength. It was Mar. 29, 2014 when this tire blowout issue happened.

Rear tires worn out on the inside after 21000 miles. 1/32 inside and 5/32 outside tread depth. Unacceptable tire wear as front tires have 4 to 5/32 tread depth across the tire. car   Tire Blowout problem of Audi A6

The vehicle having this issue was a 2006 Audi A6. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is WAUDL74FX6_. I went to my repair shop for an oil change. When the car was up in the air the technician was alarmed at my passenger front tire. We looked at it and the tire had actually caved in with wear along the inside edge of the tread to the point where it had separated and the steel belts were showing. The rest of the tire tread was normal. The front wheels have less than a degree of negative camber. I have not noticed any pulling one way or the other to indicate misalignment. The shop put my spare on the pasenger front, but the driver front is also beginning to show the same pattern. Before I buy new tires I want to find out why this happened so it doesn't happen again. I suspect a shifted belt. I have notified kumho of this problem and sent them a picture. I can send you a picture and I still have the problem tire available. I think this tire could have blown anytime, but we caught the problem in time. This problem occurred on 04/26/2013.

car   Tire Blowout problem of Audi A6

The car involved was a 1999 Audi A6 avant. My wife was driving to work this morning when she had a tire blowout on the highway going 60mph. I met up with her to put the spare on and I was expecting a nail or something in the tire. When I inspected the tire I was surprised to notice a severe blowout on the rear passenger tire on the inside side wall of the tire from the tread to the rim. This is concerning to me because we still had 40,000 miles left on the warranty and we still have the same brand/size on the other tires. I am worried that this may happen on the other tires. The brand of tire is yokohama avid trz size: p205/55r16 89t. I know this tire is not on the recall list, but I am suspect of this tire after this incident. It was Dec. 12, 2011 when this tire blowout issue occurred.
