The car was a 2005 Chrysler town and country. Problem: I bought a new Dodge caravan in 2005, had a flat tire, and there was not a spare tire underneath the van. I had never had a flat tire on this van, so why was there not a spare tire or spare tire cover underneath my car?) I had to literally get down on my hands and knees using a cellphone light to see underneath the driver's side of the car to determine why the spare would not lease. We had never had a flat in this van before and we bought it new at hayes Chrysler in oakwood, georgia in 2005. The reason I could no get the spare tire to release was because I finally discovered, there was no spare tire nor tire cover in the spare tire storage compartment underneath my van. My son and I were stranded at approximately 11:00 pm at night on the side of i78 near fulton, ms. Not only did I, a wife and mom, have to figure out what to do, but had to keep my son calm. He was unsure about safety. Later, when I contacted the dealership, they offered no help. After I first described the events that had taken place with my having a flat and no spare tire, the hayes Chrysler employee said, "that tire was stolen!" I replied, "exactly and we get our car serviced at your dealership so check your records and see who worked on my van. " needless to say, after checking with a manager the dealership simply said that they had performed an inspection on the car when the car was bought (inferring that a spare was on the car). To replace the spare tire and tire cover the dealership was going to charge me approximately $180. 00. I contacted a auto salvage store and they verified that they had many complaints (not necessarily because of this dealership or for the same reasons) of people needing a spare tire and offered to sell me the doughnut sized spare tire and its cover for $50. 00. I never thought to check underneath my new car to see if there was a spare tire. Lesson learned. This spare tire issue occurred 07/11/2013.

The vehicle is a 2006 Chrysler town and country. While driving down a road at 20mph, the spare tire fell out of my Chrysler town and country 2006 van. It became lodged under the vehicle. The vehicle had to be jacked up and the tire was then released. The cable is frayed. Further damage was done to pipes that fell with the tire. The car had to be towed to the dealer to be repaired as I felt it would be unsafe to attempt to drive there. I called Chrysler to see if there had been a safety recall and was told that this has not been an issue. After researching online, I discovered that it has been and is an issue. I am concerned about mine and others safety regarding these vehicles with spare tires mounted underneath. If I had been driving faster, or on a highway, injuries or fatalities could have resulted. I called Chrysler regarding this and was questioned about my driving and whether I hit something, which I assure you I did not. I am concerned that Chrysler is not taking this issue seriously. This issue happened on August 27, 2012.

The VIN of the car is JH4DC53065_. There was crash involved with this problem. On 11/20/12, I drove my 2005 Acura Rsx to Acura of manhattan (aom) in NY, NY. The service included 4 new tires -- michelin 215/45/17. On 12/01/12, after 40-50 miles with new tires, the vehicle starts vibrating. I stop and notice a blown-out front right tire. Emergency road assistance puts on the spare tire, notices the other 3 tires are under-inflated and adds air. I return to aom on 12/03/12, mentioning the vibrations, blown-out tire, and 3 under-inflated tires. Aom guarantees that all remaining tires are in good condition and replaces the blown-out tire. On 12/14/12, on a divided parkway the car again starts vibrating. I slow down to stop, but the rear of the car yanks to the right, the car spins wildly, I smash head-on into the median divider, the air bags deploy, the car spins around, the rear hits the median, I come to a standstill. No other car is involved. I am unhurt. I leave the car; I notice one rear tire off the rim and the other one flat. The police write up an accident report. The car is towed to a garage. My insurance company rapidly determines it is a total loss. It was the first time ever that a car of mine vibrated -- not once but twice in two weeks. The first time, one tire blew out; the second time, both rear tires were either off the rim or flat. And this immediately after aom had replaced all 4 tires. I sent a certified mail letter to mr. Carmelo giuffre, president and chairman of aom, asking for an explanation. I got 3 non-explanatory e-mails from a ms. Barbieri; none addressed the questions raised in my letter. I report this to NHTSA to prevent further accidents caused by improper service by aom. Were the tires defective? did the local distributor provide old tires with reduced elasticity? did the tires properly fit my car's rims? did aom correctly install, calibrate and balance the tires? as of this writing, no response has been given by aom which is avoiding the issue. This spare tire issue occurred Friday, December 14, 2012.

Secured dealer appointment, but when I arrived I was told that I have to bring it in when their leak specialist is at the shop (why does Honda have a regularly-scheduled leak specialist??). The car involved was a 2007 Lexus LS 460. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was JTHBL46F47_. The complaint has nothing to do with an accident but the poor wear of dunlop sp sport maxx tires. I have a 2007 Lexus Ls460 and the front tire/driver side blew out. I replaced it with the spare tire and within two weeks my wife went to have the car serviced for an oil change. It was brought and shown to her attention that all of the tires on the car are wearing poorly. This car has only 22520 miles on it and to have to replace all four tires from the time of purchase because of the failure of dunlops manufacturing is a disgrace. I am reporting this in order to have this researched and hoping for some answers and/or compensation. If not, I will have to go further to get some type of resolution. My wife was lucky not to have been in an accident because of this. She was definitely informed that she needs to replace these tires because it would not be safe to drive very long with the tires condition. Even the spare that was placed on the car and driven for two weeks is starting to show signs of the same problem. There has to be something wrong with the manufacturing of the tires and would like very much to get some answers. Thank you very much for your time. The failure date was Aug. 9, 2008.

My firestone compact spare tire for a 1998 Saturn Sl2, which has never been used, shows tread separation. The rubber is splitting apart in the tread area and the belts are showing through. This also happened to a previous firestone compact spare I owned for a Saturn. The tire is size t115/70r14 and the serial number is hym7h5a377. The tire is admittedly old, but the extent of damage is alarming considering the tire has not been used. It has been impossible to find a new replacement- tire dealers say to get a replacement from a junk yard, but they would have the same problem. We purchased a brand new Subaru Outback s/w in 1999 and recently had a flat tire. Upon placing the "Mini" spare provided with the car and driving (under 50 mph) only 19 miles to a tire dealer to have the flat repaired, the rear end was damaged. It cost $800 to have the rear end gears replaced. It turns out that the "Mini" spare provided with the car cannot be used without disabling the all wheel drive, by finding and replacing a fuse under the hood (listed in the instructions for spare removal last on page 2 of the owners manual). Oh yeah, the spare can only be used on the rear wheels. This information is all "hidden" in the owners manual. Since we have auto insurance that includes towing, we would have been much better off towing the car to the tire dealer to have the flat repaired (for free) than using the spare provided and paying $800 to have the rear end rebuilt. (towing needs to be done on a flat bed truck with all whells off the ground. ) please warn other drivers of this improperly labled "spare tire". Any assistance you can provide from Subaru will be greatly appreciated.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2000 Volvo V70. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was YV1LZ56D8Y_. My car was delivered with an incorrectly sized spare tire. Apparently (according to the dealer) the tire is supposed to be bigger so the car will remain level at all times. When the car is not level, the self-leveling struts in the rear try to level the c. It was Monday, Mar. 13, 2000 when this spare tire issue happened.

The car involved was a 2000 Volvo V70. While driving there was a loud popping noise then smoke started coming from the rear of the truck. This occurred after the factory spare tire was installed by a Volvo road side assistance repair service. Consumer wasn't' able to control the vehicle, it felt like the truck was being driven on an uneven pavement, and the spare tire wasn't gripping. When the service representative was called he indicated that this size tire shouldn't be used on this truck. The truck had to be towed to the dealership. The cause of the smoke had yet to be determined. This spare tire problem happened on Aug. 26, 2004.

I have picked up a new Audi A4 January 3,2007. It has been 4 weeks and I need to replace 3 tires. One was blown from a pothole. . . The other one went flat as I was driving down the highway around 80 mph for about 15 miles on it. The other developed a bubble on the sidewall. Pirelli told me to send the tire in for evaluation, we will have an answer to you in about 4 to 8 weeks. What am I supposed to do for a spare tire? pirelli quotes, I don't know. What a joke!!! they are no help. I don't even have 2k on this car plus 3 of my rims are bent! so much for a new car. . . Stay away from pirelli!!! they are a road hazards. . . Garbage. The owner has a 2007 BMW 328xi. The vehicle has bridgestone tires. The contact stated that her tires are defective at 18,000 miles. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle began swerving to the left and the tires felt hard. The dealer stated that the tires are defective and all four needed to be replaced. The tires are called "flat" tires and no spare tire was available. If the "flat" tires ever go flat, she can still drive on them for at least 125 more miles. The dealer will replace two of her tires for free, but the other two must be purchased at the cost of $625. The tire size was unknown. The failure mileage was 18,025. This spare tire problem happened on February 17, 2009.

The vehicle involved was a 2007 BMW 328xi. Vehicle identification number (VIN): WBAVT73527_. I discovered few weeks ago that the car I lease since 2008 does not have a spare tire. When I inquire the reason why, the manufacturer explained that the car uses especial tires called run flat which in the event of a tire problem would allow me to go to the next tire shop. There are a number of problems with this argument. First, the rationale for eliminating a spare tire is flawed and unsafe: a spare provides drivers with an extra wheel including both tire and rim, in case something happens with either component. Eliminating the spare because a car has rfts (run flat tires) fails to take into consideration that the wheels of the car can also suffer damage to the point of immobilizing the vehicle. This is an important safety hazard that would be easily solved with a spare tire. Second, after researching about rfts I found out that most tire shops in the metropolitan area where I live dont carry these tires (one needs to pre-order them) and cannot even repair them. I cannot imagine what would be the availability outside metropolitan areas. Third, these tires are twice or three times as expensive as a regular tire the cheapest rft for my car are $200 per tire; and according to tire shop employees they typically last half the mileage of a regular tire. Fourth, and perhaps the most concerning issue, when I was buying the car nobody at the dealership disclosed the type of tires the car had or the lack of spare tire. If I would have known this information I simply would not have leased the vehicle. I contacted the manufacturer and they said that even though they suggest their dealers disclose this information, they cannot monitor nor can they do anything to make the dealers comply. I think both manufacturer and dealers are to blame for putting people at risk by eliminating the spare tire, and for not being forthcoming and explicit about the introduction of new technologies that may affect the purchase decision. It was Sep. 1, 2009 when this spare tire issue happened.

The vehicle was a 2012 Buick Regal. After much research I found there is no compact spare tire and wheels for the grand sport version of the 2012 Buick Regal anywhere I could find. They only provide an inflater kit. My last 3 flats could not be repaired with the inflater because of the type damage. No written documentation that I have obtained stated this fact. The problem is that we have family in the middle of pennslyvania and have to travel through the mountains where there is no cell phone conductivity (that eliminates the roadside assistance) a regular trip is for thanksgiving and we have experienced some extreme weather during some off these trips with minimal traffic due to the weather. Therefore we could have a flat and be stranded during a snow storm. I believe this is an unsafe condition. . The failure date was Tuesday, September 11, 2012.

The vehicle is a 2010 Cadillac Srx. Cadillac refuses to allow me to order a new 2010 Srx with a spare tire. The car comes standard with a can of fix-a-flat type solution to fix your tire. However if the fix-a-flat solution cannot fix the hole, you are stranded on the highway until you can buy a new tire. The only way to get a spare tire on a new Srx is if it is a fleet purchase (e. G. Rental car companies). It is impossible to believe that a car manufacturer can refuse to offer a spare tire as an option on a new car. This is totally a safety issue and should be illegal. Please help me with this bizarre and almost unbelievable situation. Thanks,
vince. It was Mar. 28, 2010 when this spare tire issue happened.
