The vehicle was a 2000 Dodge Dakota. While driving at approximately 65 mph tread completely separated from tire but did not lose air and I was able to control the vehicle. Tire tread caused over $2,000 damage to the bed of the 2000 Dodge Dakota pu as the tread explosively separated from the truck. The tire was 6 years and 3 months old with less than 20,000 miles on it. We do live in an area that experiences summertime temps in the 90-110 degree range. The temp that day in may was about 90 degrees. I am reporting this because I just had another definity Dakota h/t tire develop a bulge and looks like it is about to experience a tread separation also. Tire is on the same vehicle and the same, passenger side rear position as the first tire incident. Both tire were purchased in Feb 2007 as a set of four definity Dakota h/t. Tires. I checked with pep boys and the local rep said he was not aware of any problems with these tires and state that he had them on his vehicle. This tire bulge issue occurred 05/18/13.

The vehicle involved was a 2004 Ford F-150. On Friday, November 22, 2013 while driving to work on the freeway, I felt several “thumps” prior to the rear left tire on my F-150 blow. There was no load in the truck nor was I towing. I was able to safely get onto the shoulder. Aaa responded and attempted to change the tire. He was unable, as some of the tire tread was wrapped around the axle. We also observed the parking brake cable broken. A tow truck was then dispatched to move my F-150 to a garage. Damage noted to the truck was a snapped parking brake cable and a kinked hydraulic line. I authorized the garage to repair the brake system and get my truck back on the road. By the time they were able to gather the repair parts, it was the following Wednesday (day before thanksgiving) when I able to get it back. First thing I noticed was the broken trailer electrical connector on the bumper. Discussions with the tow company and the garage determined that the damage was caused by flying rubber. That Wednesday afternoon I took the truck to discount tire to have the damaged tire replaced under the road hazard warranty I had purchased from them. Examination of the remaining three ltx m/s tires revealed another tire with a delamination bulge. Discount replaced two of the tires under the warranty with ltx m/s2’s, and I purchased two more. I did not want to take any more risks with the remaining ltx m/s’s. It was 11/22/2013 when this tire bulge issue happened.

The vehicle was a 2008 Ford E-350. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Ford E-350 is 1FBNE31P28_. The car was vibrating incessantly. A loud bang, thud heard from the right front tire. Pull off the side of highway 220, southbound, about 10 miles north of hico, TX. The entire rubber around the steel belt was stripped off. The blow out caused damage to the running board and tire wheel area. I purchased these 4 tires on 7/21/11 so there are only 2 yrs old with about 20-25 miles on them. Before this blow out, I actually replaced two of the other tires replaced weeks before. One on of them, the car shook violently and the tire had a giant bulge. 3000 miles later, almost 2 weeks, the second tire started stripping off the rubber and tearing apart. Car shook then too. The third tire (story in first paragraph) completely tore apart before we could get to a safe spot to check it out. When each tire had a noticeable problem, I did the following: 1. First tire: immediately went to discount tire company for repair 2. Second tire: put on spare (it was July 4th) 3. Third tire: put on spare because tread had separated. One time is fluke, two times is a coincidence, three tires failing within 5 weeks is a definite pattern. Please review these tires. This problem occurred on Sunday, July 28, 2013.

The vehicle is a 1999 GMC Sierra. Tires wear out exceptionally fast. Dealership authorized replacement of 4 tires in March 2000. At this time, the truck had approx. 16,500 miles. They were replaced due to extreme wear and numerous bulges. About 3 weeks after having these 4 tires replaced, while driving at approx. 20 mph to make a turn, a tire blew. The tire separated from the rim on both edges and was just centered, hanging loosely from the rim, totally deflated. I went ahead and pulled into a station about 20 yards away, where I jacked the truck up and was able to center the tire on the wheel & reinflate it. The tire held pressure & I was able to finish errands & then go to goodyear. At this time, goodyear tells me I hit a nail. They plugged the tire, but told me I needed to take the truck back to dealership as my new tires, with less than 1000 miles, were badly worn and should be replaced. The dealership tells me to return to goodyear for adjustment. I feel there is a problem, don't know if it is the tires or the truck?? when the tire came loose, I bumped the curb & sustained about $1000 of damage, rear axle, bearings, rotor etc. How can a tire totally seperate from the rim & then be reinflated without repair? why do the tires on this truck keep wearing out? encountered another customer today at hudiburg with a similar problm. They were replacing 2 tires for him after replacing all 5 tires previously. Wish they were as considerate in my case, instead of sending me back to deal with goodyear myself!! here I sit with a 1999 Sierra which needs new tires. . There has to be a reason why they wear out so rapidly??why would a tire seperate from the rim/ then be able to be reinflated without repair??( dot number: pd3ddawr27 tire size: 23575r16 ). It was Sunday, April 2, 2000 when this tire bulge issue occurred.

The car is a 2011 Honda Accord. Defect in dunlop sport 7000 a/s tire: tire sidewall bulged out from the inside of the tire. Size of bulge is approx 1. 5 in x 2. 0 in. Rubber exterior wall of tire appears as frayed. There were no accidents or other known causes of the bulge or fraying. Tire was 6 months old and had 8600 miles, mostly suburban driving (some highway/interstate), driven under normal driving conditions. The defect was discovered when the car's sensor showing tire air pressure indicated low pressure in at least one tire; visual inspection immediately revealed the defect; tire pressure had dropped to 22 psi, probably over a period of 2-3 days. No injuries, accidents or other property damage caused by defect due to alert provided by tire pressure sensor. Dunlop offered to repair/replace the defective tire under warranty; offer declined, and owner replaced all four (relatively new) dunlop tires with other brand tires. All four original tires have been discarded, but photos of the defective tire are available for inspection. Owner telephoned dunlop to notify manufacturer of the defect sept 20, 2011 11:40 a. M. Edt. It was Sunday, Sep. 18, 2011 when this tire bulge issue happened.

The vehicle was a 2005 Honda Odyssey. While driving on the freeway, noticed thumping noise coming from tires and vibration in the entire vehicle. Pulled over and noticed a large bulge on one of the tires and the bulge was on the treads. The tire store described this as tire tread separation. This happened twice on two separate occasions within three months while driving on the freeway. Two of the four toyo versado tires on my vehicle failed as a result of tread separation. The retail store where I originally purchased the tires gave me a credit towards the purchase of new tires. They kept the failed tires. This tire bulge problem happened on 05/04/2011.

The vehicle involved is a 2011 Kia Motor Soul. I purchased a new set of 4 kumho tires p205/55r16 89h bsw solus xpert kh20 at 22096 miles on 10/17/2013. Within the 1st 45 days my wife was driving on a rural 4 lane hwy and the tire went down in seconds. Discount tire replaced the tire under the road hazard warranty I purchased. She did not notice hitting anything in the roadway and it was not a blow-out. The tire just quickly deflated over a hundred yards or so. Now within another 45 days I have a bulge in the other front tire. Although discount tire is offering to replace the next one under the road hazard things are not adding up. [xxx] from discount tire stated it's because of pot holes. I can't just openly accept that we are continually hitting pot holes damaging tires without notice. Also, diagnosing potential tire problems of the fact may not be the most accurate. For this reason I am notifying the dot for review in case this is a wider issue. Thanks for your time. The car is a 2005 Mazda Mazda6. The VIN of the problem Mazda6 is 1YVHP84D25_. I purchased a new Mazda 6 and it came from the factory with michelin tires. The problem was immediate with a severe rough ride when the tires were cool thus causing steering problems. I rarely drive this vehicle (7,000 miles per year) and was shocked to find sidewall buldges and tire separation on the right rear tire. A few weeks later, I noticed the left front tire had the same problem. Since day one, all 4 of the tires wouldn't hold their tire pressure (even with no leaks) which couldn't be figured out by "professionals. " I returned my car to the dealership where they told me to immediately get my car into a michelin tire center. I was told that the damage had been caused by a low speed impact and a gash in the tires and would have to buy 4 new tires ($190 per tire). This was definitely not caused by an impact or a gash so I took the car to another michelin center. They told me this time that it was caused by high speed impact but that there was no gash and I would have to buy their tires ($199. 42 per tire). Finding their stories not matching up, I took it to a third michelin center. They told me that it was caused by hitting a curb! the employee then told me that it was highly unlikely that the two bulged tires on either side could have been caused by hitting a curb or high/low speen impact after an inspection. He recommended a different tire, not a michelin. I ended up buying new tires costing me a grand total of almost $1,000. I insisted on the old tires which the tire center didn't want to readily give back to me. Upon inspection, there was neither gash nor tread wear as they had less than 20,000 miles. At all three michelin dealers, they refused to cover them under warranty. It seems obvious that these tires were defective and dangerous from day one. I am writing to you so that this may prevent an accident or death since I am so lucky to have "caught" the problem before anything serious happened. Michelin tires need to be held accountable!. This tire bulge problem happened on 06/14/08.

If these bulging went undetected they would have resulted in fatal blow out whiles driving. I have complained about these bulging to company where I purchased these tires and did not get any help since they blame it on me on hitting potholes and that all tires will do that.
