My 2011 chevy Traverse was parked in the garage for over an hour when my husband walked in the garage and heard a crackling noise. He began walking around trying to find the noise and saw the back window of the Traverse slowing cracking. When he first observed - there was no holes - only cracking. The cracking continued continued for unknown length of time. Two holes in the center formed as glass fell out. By the next morning, one large hole in the center had formed. The glass appears to bulge out from the inside of the car. The edges of the glass all around the perimeter of the window are gone. Temp outside was around 72 degrees. Nothing unusual about weather or temp on this day. It was Jun. 13, 2011 when this rear window wiper washer issue happened.

The vehicle involved is a 2009 Dodge Journey awd. I have an 09 Journey awd sxt and have had trouble with brakes interior plastic parts breaking oil leaks engin not starting . Brake rotors and pads on front replaced three times windshield wipers replaced twice can't buy rear wiper so had to make one. Have had it in shop for windows and doorlocks not working right and still don't. Tires worn out at around 30,000 miles and cost 1,500 to replace. Am now having problem with radio . I have had my car to the dealer multiple times and still have all the same problems. I bought this car new in July 09 it now has 34,487 miles on it soon my warranty will run out . The VIN of this vehicle is 1D8GT28K48_. I live in metro atlanta and I have a 2008 Dodge Nitro. I love my truck but 12/01/11 brought my love to like and I don't know what to do. I work 2. 7 miles from home - on my way home 12/01/11, the horn started sounding, lights were flashing, doors were trying to locking and unlock, front and rear wipers came on, and the water for the wipers started spraying. I pulled over, cut the truck off for about 5 minutes and started it back up. Needless to say that did not resolve the issue. I drove all the way home with all these things happening. Once I got home, 'I cut the truck off" and the wipers were still going as well as the horn, the exterior lights, and the door locks. So 'I took the key out' and wouldn't you know - everything continue to do the same thing. Ended up disconnecting the battery. 12/02/11 I connected the battery from the disconnect the night beofre and the horn sounded for a few seconds but now my heater is not working - on the way into the office everything happened again. Pulled over and had truck towed to the nearest Dodge dealer. My Nitro has 77,006 miles on it. This problem occurred on 12/01/2011.

The consumer stated the transmission would slip harshly and hesitate on acceleration. The recall repair did not correct the transmission problems. It was determined that the valve body and solenoid body were defective. Also, one of the tires was leaking air, there was an issue with the traction and brakes. There were noises coming from the front of the vehicle. The steering wheel would not lock into place, the cd player did not work at times, the driver side visor did not stay in place, the gas over flow tube was inoperative, the vehicle would pull hard when the brake was applied. The rear driver's side door had to be slammed extremely hard, in order to close it. The driver's side seat belt was backwards. The passenger side windshield wiper dragged on the windshield and the vehicle would sometimes surge on its own. Each time the consumer went to the dealer about certain problems, she was told no problems were found. This issue happened on Jan. 10, 2010.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2009 Hyundai Sonata. I purchased a 2009 Sonata for my wife's safety, driving the roads of texas to and from work. I notified Hyundai about a serious and dangerous instrument panel control design flaw. . The Sonata manual is self-explanatory starting at page 1-101 - addressing known and frequent fogging all windows issues. Briefly, it is unconscionable to ask the driver, while driving, take one hand off the wheel, look down, find, read and manually reset multiple exact positions in temperature, a/c and fan speeds to defog all windows. At 70 miles, or any mph--this is a disaster waiting to happen. Sonata Hyundai windows fog quickly, completely and frequently blinding the driver necessitating distracting changes to be made to balance multiple changes in outside to inside temps along roads. Defogging is achieved--only-- with outside air intake vents open. Life threatening maneuvers to drive safely are distractions designed into the Hyundai instrument control system. In all my years I have not found such an incompetent, unsafe, unreasonable and life threatening design in any automobile, or over the road rig I owned. If hyunda's answer is they cannot fix or reprogram the system, I am selling the car as quickly as they say no. This design is a death trap, unsafe to drive, and a threat to others on the road as well. This rear window wiper washer problem happened on Friday, February 5, 2010.

Car has been in the shop on two separate occasions for issues that were not quick fixes: 1. Brake work 2. Car got stuck in gear and was unable to reverse. For the past few months, car has been revving when driving between 10 and 20mph. Most recently, it braked hard and suddenly without the driver pressing the brake. Currently, the car is flashing f and 4 in the dash display and is unable to accelerate. The car is unable to climb even the slightest of inclines. The driver was able to drive it to an auto repair shop. The mechanic at the shop believes the transmission is "shot", but suggested having it diagnosed at a mr. Transmission. The failure date was Mon., Feb. 23, 2009.

On August 28 when I opened the left rear door at night, while SUV was parked in the garage, to retrieve item from the back seat, the whole left rear window shattered in pieces. It was quite a traumatic experience for me. It took me almost forty minutes to clean up the fibroglass debris. Prior to this incident, I was not aware of any damage to the left rear passenger side window. I took the SUV back to dealer next day. The company did replace it in goodfaith. They claims it was the first time they heard such an incident. I just wonder whether there are other reported similar incident. I do have grandkid occasionally sitting in the rear seat. If could potentially cause injury to the passenger sitting in the back seat. This problem occurred on Monday, July 6, 2009.

The vehicle is a 2005 Mazda Mazda6. The VIN of this vehicle is 1YVHP82D95_. 4/28/08 I drove to an appointment (25 miles) at which point it began to rain. I inadvertently turned on the rear wiper an immediately turned it off once I noticed it hit the bike rack on the back. There was a strong odorous burning smell. The smell was still present on the my return trip back home. 4/29/08 I did not notice the burning smell to and from work (2 miles). 4/30/08 on a trip downtown I was caught in rush hour traffic with my kids in the car. After about 45 minutes both the kids and I noticed a strong burning smell. I asked my son to check the rear window as it appeared smoke was now coming from the window/panel area. He yelled that it was smoke and that we need to pull over. Rear wipers had been turned off since Monday. We were able to get off the expressway and park to check out the damage. Upon opening the hatch a burning smell was quite intense. The plastic covering of the rear hatch (near the window) extremely hot and was too hot to touch. I immediately called the local Mazda dealership to ask what I should do and I was told that the service technicians had gone home for the day (4:30pm). I figured that I could pull the fuse which would remove the power source thus preventing any further damage. My son and I were able to remove the fuse and it appeared to have solved the problem for the return trip but it was difficult to tell as the car already had a strong burning smell within. I immediately called my father (a former auto worker in michigan) to discuss this with him and he said the fuse should have blown and that it should not have escalated to the point of burning and smoking. He could provide no reason why the fuse would not have blown. I am scheduled for 5/14/08 to have this incident evaluated by the dealer. This issue happened on 04/28/08.

The car involved is a 2004 Mercedes Benz Ml350. The VIN of this vehicle is 4JGAB57E54_. Thank you for your responses but we are very disappointed and very frustrated with your response. During these 2 year things have gone wrong. We did contact mercedes-benz headquarters. . Market too many times and explain about us car. But they are ignore now we are in the process of launching a lawsuit to replace my 04 ml 350 on the basis of safety. The engine failed 18 times on the road (in addition to all kinds of other problems). We are in California USA--2004 Mercedes Benz Ml350 - list problems and much time spent in the service department-- 2004 Mercedes Benz Ml350 is the worst automobile I have ever purchased. It has spent half of its life in the service department. Here is a of my problems within the past 28 months:
1. The engine of car shakes and makes noise
2. The engine light is turns on and after that is shut down. Again the car is automatic. It turns off
3. The brake warning light turns on and of intermittently- with out reason
4. Diagnose have problem
5. Ets failed
6. Brake pads, front, include front rotors replaced
7. Stalled twice

all of these above make us terrible- the car bring at home only 27 month but have to stay in the shop for 18x times we did contact a mb market for request about the recall and replace for us but they denied it. Now I have go to looking somebody help. This issue happened on 07/10/04.

Rear Window Wiper Washer problem of Mercedes Benz ML320
The car is a 2001 Mercedes Benz Ml320. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is 4JGAB54E91_. The defect stated in recall 03 v 121 000 for the power steering hose clamp happened while the consumer was waiting to be notified. The consumer experienced the following: the entire instrument cluster lit up and flashed and beeped, lost the speedometer, tachometer, gas/gas temperature gauge, and the vehicle had gone into second gear and did come out for some time(discovered it was in limp-home mode). The service dealer advised the consumer that the problem was the gear selector. The instrument cluster lights had gone off, except for the bas/brake assist system light, the gauges, speedometer, and tachometer had resumed. There was an incident where half of instrument cluster display on the left lit up, although the vehicle continued to run. The service dealer thought the problem may have been the battery. During a rainstorm, the entire instrument panel lit up, the tachometer, speedometer, and the gas gauge stopped and the instrument panel kept beeping intermittently but did not go into limp mode. There was a crack in one of the d-pillars, and the rear hatch lock did not work. The ignition lock seemed loose since the gear shift assembly had been replaced, the windshield washer reservoir leaked. The bas/esp control module had been changed, but the problem persisted. The consumer was told the vehicle needed a new battery. The brake pad wear light displayed, the power steering had failed again. The consumer was advised the vehicle needed front and rear brakes then was told that it was a clamp problem. Also the driver's window switch hesitated. The safety recall notice that related to the failure of the hose clamp for the power steering fluid which apparently caused the complete loss of power steering in the vehicle as well as damage to the hydraulic fluid pump which resulted in repairs performed on the vehicle. The consumer requested full reimbursement for the charges related to the repairs. Recall# 03v121000. This issue happened on 01/15/03.

usually, its kind of hard to turn, but if you twist the knob fast enough, you'll hear this sliding sound behind the center console signifying the change from cold to heat. The knob is no longer doing that, no matter how I turn it. I will turn it the full 180 degrees, and it won't "pop" into place" and it'll end up turning back to about 160 degrees (the dial location). All of the window regulators on my 2002 Nissan Xterra do not work,causing the windows to never be used for fear of them being stuck in the down position. I have had to repair the drivers side once already to the tune of $200. This appartently a known problem by Nissan,and the best they would do is to extend the warranty to 60k miles or 5 years from purchase. Most people I've talked to were already past this point,so there is nothing that Nissan will do for them. . . Me included. I could replace the other 3 windows but at $200 ea and with it being a known issue why should I be stuck with this. This issue happened on Monday, May. 5, 2008.

The vehicle is a 2000 Nissan Xterra. Since having my vehicle I have had several problems. Some minor however having a new vehicle I did not expect to have this many problems. I have had a continuous wind noise from my sun roof that has been taken in 3 times to be repaired. I also had to have my rear windshield wiper repaired. Approximately 1 month ago I had to have my brakes replaced and was just informed today (10/10/01) that my fuel pump has gone bad. Several monthes ago I had a "knocking" noise under my hood and as of today I have another "knocking" noise. I just do not feel that my truck should have this many problems with it being so new! my truck stopped 3 times as I was on the highway driving. I had cars in front as well as behind me, it was a very scary and dangerous situation to be in. I hope my complaints do not go unheard as I feel they have at my car dealership. Thank you!. The failure date was 09/09/2001.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2008 Subaru Impreza. Ever since I purchased my vehicle (new), there has been a terrible film on the windshield and interior windows. Sometimes it is so bad, it is almost impossible to see out of the windows (especially with light reflections and sunsets, etc. ). My dealer has informed me that it has had many similar complaints. I have tried cleaning the windows with cleaners and nothing seems to help. The problem is even worse during the winter months when the defroster is being used more often. To date, my dealer (as well as a different one) has been unable to find a solution to the problem. This is a serious safety issue that limits visibility from the vehicle. The car involved was a 1998 Volvo S70. Electrical problems since shortly after purchase of vehicle, to dealer 25 times. Dashboard light would come on, indicating that headlights were not working when in fact they were. Dealer stated vehicle had a bulb and socket problem, taillight bulb failed, signal lights flash very fast, side signals sockets and bulbs shorted, 4 running light contacts melted, front headlight shorted, left front headlight inoperable, and bulb indicator illuminated. Door locks inoperable, windows would not go up, master window control switch faulty, and speakers distorted. Seat belt plastic part cracked. Transmission sticks on lowe gear, happened twice. Gas light comes on even when tank is full. Washer fluid inidcator illuminated, washer jets inoperable, wiper blads replaced, right side mirror did not adjust all the way out. Front and rear brake pads worn, rotors replaced, brakes cause screeching noises. Engine light illuminated, cable under engine loose. Humming noise while driving, dealer replaced right front hub, left and right front stabilizer links. Mudflaps loose. Evap valve replaced. This problem occurred on 01/25/1999.

I generally only drive the car on weekends in bright and sunny weather, so the decreased visibility isn't a real big a deal as it would be if driven at night or during inclement weather. However I've recently looked into replacing the mirror myself--the dealer wants a relatively large sum of money to perform the work as the car is no longer under warranty--and have discovered there might be adverse health effects if exposed to the fluid contained inside. (fellow owners of vehicles with these mirrors note that it is not uncommon for this fluid to leak out or explode, particularly on hot days as I often experience here in florida; this fluid subsequently causes damage to the interior in addition to the aforementioned possible health effects. ) the original manufacturer of the mirror has not publicly disclosed any information at this time in regards to the fluids chemical composition or proper handling measures. If nothing else, I'd also like to know what the proper disposal method is for the old mirror (which I assume to contain hazardous materials of some sort as defined by the epa), so as not to throw it in with normal household waste. The vehicle was a 1999 Buick Lesabre. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is 1G4HR52K0X_. The event leading to the incident involved turning on the rear defroster. After turning on the rear defroster I smelt smoke and burnt electronics. The rear window would not defrost. I turned the car off and pulled off the panel near the wire running to the rear windshield and discovered the "power radio amplifier" had melted and caught fire, resulting in burns to the panel and complete loss of radio and rear defroster. This of course made it impossible to defrost the rear windshield. A replacement part was bought and installed by myself (the wiring harnesses and cables needed to be repaired due to severe burning as well). I still own the old burnt part. The failure date was Friday, Dec. 10, 2010.

The car has been looked at by my mechanic on numerous occasions for this problem between June 2007 and September 2008. On several occasions the wipers were inoperable when I arrived at the mechanic's facility. On the other occasions the wipers became operable by the time I arrived at the mechanic's facility. The Cadillac dealers display no degree of concern in dealing with this problem. In my opinion, all evidence points to a design or manufacturing defect, which could ultimately lead to a crash, or cause injury or death. I bring this matter to your attention because I have lost confidence in any repair recommendations. Further, I am concerned for my safety and the safety of others when I drive this vehicle during inclement weather.
