The car involved was a 2001 Ford Windstar. 7/21/2011 bought van from private party. Recall completed in March of 2011 regarding back axle. On 7/13/2012 8pm, my 18yr old son, while driving home from lacrosse practice, nearly killed. Upon pulling out onto the main road, he lost all controls, no steering, no brakes and no power. He coasted and prayed it would stop. I arrived, we called aaa. Flatbed to my home driver could not believe his eyes. The engine had fallen out. 7/16/12 called Ford in mich and spoke to rep. To be towed 13 miles away to route 23 auto at our expense. Really? route23 wanted nothing to do with me (they did recall). Went back and forth then per rt23 "it will be a month until we can look at it" getting know where. 7/18-22 borrowed friend car for tournament. 8/1/12 called magarino Ford and with great concern had a flatbed that night. This tow truck driver could not believe it. Fluids raced out and double stabilized for engine sliding during transport. 8/2/12 magarino called 9am, pictures sent to Ford and awaiting reply. 8/5/12 t/c from m stating Ford refuses to buy back and sending a subframe. You mean a recalled one? magarino caught in middle I questioned whether he would put his children in this van. He softly replied, "no" what am I to do, out of work 2 years, single parent with no car to find work. 8/8/12 I questioned Ford why this van ever left rt 23 auto, according to researched paper a part was waiting on. You mean to tell me that upon this fixed axle nobody noticed the subframe was rotted from inside out causing the engine to fall out the next summer nearly killing my son! but they signed it was fine! really? now we have case # 1373091992 8/10/12 picked up van. Broke= a/c, r-window, heater engine, airbag, brake light on, runs hot steering= thumps makes noise (full fluid) skip gears, sways, barely can get up a hill. 11yr old scared to drive in it. The vehicle involved was a 2005 Acura Rsx. The hvac (air conditioning / heating system / defroster) started smelling bad with a toxic mildew odor the very first day with a brand new automobile. I took it to the dealer and they denied anything was wrong. However, they put a citrus smelling chemical into the vents that only partially masked it. It smells bad after running the air conditioning for a couple of minutes and turning it off, leaving the fan running for a few minutes, while driving. Then, it disappears after a few minutes. This happens every time I drive the car or cycle the air conditioning. Again, this is a brand new car with less than 500 miles on it. It started occurring with 100 miles on it. I rented another (different brand) car for a week with no problems. This report is for a Acura Rsx automobile. There is no selection for the Acura Rsx automobile on this website (next page). Correct vehicle added 9/8/2005, duplicate complaint exists. It was 08/05/05 when this defogger heater issue occurred.

The car was a 2003 Infiniti G35. First defect:
when I would start my car the lights would go out and the radio, heating and cooling buttons. The fan would come onto high and switch to airconditioning. I could not turn it down or turn it off or turn on my defroster when it was 30 degrees in the morning which made my visibility very poor. The only way to get this to stop was to pull the fuses. We check the recall history and found that it was only a courtesy recall and wouldn't be covered even after reading that hundreds of G35 owners were all having the same problem. We had to have the radio electronics removed from the car and sent out to be fixed. I think this issue would be consisted a safety issue when you don't have heat or a defroster. Second defect:
the problem started while the car was idling and it would stall. Then 3 days later while driving at 50mph the car tried to stall and it lost all power and then the dash lights came on indicating service needed. The car seem to lack power. Did a recall check and found that all the conditions pointed to the cam shaft position censor failing. We checked the VIN# and of course my car isn't one that is on their recall list for the same problem they have on other G35 models. This could be a serious safety issue causing an accident when you stall and have no control of your vehicle going down the highway. Every issue I have had with my car has been on the companies recall list but not my VIN # for some reason. This issue to need to reviewed and corrected. Third defect:
we have had to have the motor replaced twice in the drivers door that operates the electric window. Now the right door window is not working. If it does open it will get stuck and we have trouble getting it to come up. We have to keep it locked to avoid it being opened. This defogger heater issue occurred May. 1, 2011.

The vehicle involved was a 2003 Infiniti G35 coupe. The VIN of this vehicle was JNKCV54E53_. The defroster, ac/heating system, radio, and selected lights on the dashboard fail randomly, causing the windows to fog in certain weather conditions, making it quite hazardous to drive. The system will automatically turn on, then the fan cycles to higher speeds about every 20 seconds. The heating/air system will become completely uncontrollable, rendering all defrost controls inoperable. During this time, the radio display turns itself off, and all controls on the face of the unit are disabled. The stereo can still be controlled by the steering wheel controls. All button lights remain off, while the center display, located just below the windshield, remains on. There has been a recall for the sedan version of this year/model vehicle for the same issue. The following is the service campaign number for the sedan recall:
itb03-007. This problem occurred on 08/01/2011.

The car involved is a 2010 Jeep Patriot fwd. VIN of the vehicle was 1J4NF2GBXA_. When I get up to speeds between 50-60mph, I feel outside air coming through the steering wheel column. This winter it's been extremely cold and I'm needing to move my hands towards the top of the steering wheel to avoid the cold air leaking in. When I make sharp turns between 25-45mph, I get more cold air coming in as if I opened a window. I need to crank up the heat in order to avoid getting cold myself. I am forced to hold the steering wheel a certain way to avoid the cold air. I took it to a dealership who said OH it's the windshield, so they replaced that. In the meantime I drove a 2011 caliber home and it was even worse, there was so much air leaking out from the steering wheel and the sun roof was leaking air as well. I told this to the manager (jerk) [xxx] who said well that's the way they are made. Well it wasn't the windshield, the manager [xxx] at roberson said that's how the vehicles are made. I really think this is factory defect, there should be no outside air coming into a 2010 Jeep Patriot at high rate of speed unless a window is open. I am very upset that I even bought this Jeep, because bottom line service men are mean. When I sat at roberson waiting for my Jeep there were 3 other women waiting for their vehicles and they had complaints. This is a safety issue, because I'm being forced to hold the steering wheel a certain way, cranking up the heater full blast to counter act the cold air leaking in(creates a loud noise unable to hear traffic) and my thighs are freezing by the time I get to work. God, summer is going to be a nightmare!!! thanks t&c in wilsonville for selling me a defective vehicle. I want this issue fixed or give another Jeep Patriot that doesn't have this issue. . . . . This is wrong I drove my Honda civic for 12 years never had any problems. . . I kick myself for buying this vehicle. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6). The failure date was Tuesday, November 15, 2011.

The Land Rover Freelander is not a safe car. I feel this car is very dangerous to the consumer with all the problems people are having with this car. I am having the same problems that I am seeing on the internet that my fellow Freelander owners are having sunroof problems, brakes, oil leaks, transmission problems at low mileage, heater core leak that cause windows to mist at 30,000-40,000 miles that is very dangerous for consumers and I feel the NHTSA needs to check into these many defects and have Land Rover pay these consumers there money back and save lives. I have had my sunroof fixed twice with less than 40,000 miles, I have had a oil leak with less than 40,000 miles, presently I am dealing with a heater core leak at 50. 400 just when my warranty is up and this is going to cost me 1,000 dollars and all Land Rover had to say was I am sorry. I expect a car like Land Rover to be more dependable than that, with low mileage and all of these problems. I feel this is to many problems for a car that Land Rover claims to be rugged, tough and dependable. I truly hope that NHTSA can help myself and my fellow consumers with the defects we are having with this car and provide consumer safety that we all need during these tough times. Thank you. The car involved is a 2004 Lexus ES 330. I not longer have confidence in driving my Lexus 2004 Es330 with 12,500 miles due to 2 main reasons. (a) this car continue to pull to the left to the point that I must continually put pressure to the steering wheel so the car wont move to the left. This is happening even after the dealer has supposedly fixed issue. (b) the very well known transmission problem. This vehicle is unsafe to drive in many instances where you need to merge into traffic and the car does not responded to the gas pedal. The symptom is very noticeable when you are on stop and go traffic or in slow traffic. I urge your agency to investigate this matter before any casualty occurs. Lexus normal response is that the car is operating as designed. The dealer must have been told to express the same line as they always have the same answer for anything they do not have a solution for. The failure date was Tue., Jun. 28, 2005.

The car was a 1999 Lincoln Town Car. The VIN of this vehicle is 1LNHM82W8X_. Heater core failure. This causes vapor and odor from the engine coolant to leak through the vents and to coat the windshield with an oil-like substance making it impossible to see through the windshield. Heater core was replaced 10/04/04. Went out again 11/24/04. Ford motor company acknowledges that this is a recurring problem in this model vehicle. $737. 54 to have heater core replaced. They 'think' they can prevent this from occuring again if they do something else that will cost me an additional $547. 00, but 'no guarantee' that it won't happen again and no additional warranty on the heater core. The car was a 2004 Mazda RX-8. Ac and general cabin temperature problems. I am having a combination of problems with the heating and cooling of the car. In the summer when it is very hot there is a noticeable "pulsing" or on/off symptom of the cold air generated by the ac. I timed it and very cold air comes out of the vent for about 30 - 45 seconds. Then it is followed by about the same duration of regular air (the ac seems to shut off) so on hot days you get a pulse of cold followed up by a pulse of warm air. The effect is that the cabin heats up and the ac cannot keep up with it. It the winter when it is cold out there is a different issue. It seems that the vents are allowing outside air to get into the mixture. In the winter ice cold air is being mixed in with the heat which has the same effect where the heater cannot keep up with heating the cabin of the car. There is also an annoying feature on the defroster. You cannot defrost the window with inside air as soon as you turn on the defroster it flips the outside air vent open. So when it is very cold you have to chose between seeing out the wind shield and freezing or heat the cabin and the wind shield fogs up. I have taken the car in three times and have since gave up. The tech's obviously cannot or will not fix it. The tech actually had a thermometer in the vent of the car and of course the car is inside the garage in the shade. So he pops in the thermometer and comes back and checks it a - ok. I gave them a detailed description, do you think they took the car out and drove it when it is above 85 degrees outside? nope. It was 06/05/04 when this defogger heater issue happened.

The car involved is a 2009 Subaru Forester. 1. Greasy film on windshield, could not see well to drive, film cannot be wiped off. Cannot be cleaned off with normal household cleaners only industrial cleaners. Film expands to get on all the glass & materials in the car, including the rear hatch. Film is more visible at night & when the ambient temperature is below freezing. Chemical poisoning. Breathing the substance(s) has caused me to be sick since the end of December. Breathing issues, cough, lungs, nose problems. 2. Being poisoned by chemicals in the car that may be leaking out of some area as yet unknown. Unable to see well to drive. This happens whenever the defrost is run. Also, heater. Not sure about a/c. Have been sick now with just running the air. There may have been enough buildup of this substance that it is on all surfaces of the car interior and/or in the ducts of the vehicle. 2a. Symptoms: coughing, sometimes uncontrollably with long rides in the car. Shortness of breath, unable to breath, congested, lung tightness, nose congestion, etc. Have been to national jewish hospital. They recommend getting rid of car. 3. For the first 4 times I brought it in, they only washed the windshield, or all the glass on the car depending upon how much had built up on it. They said it was off gassing of the vinyl. The next time I brought it in they waxed the windows in the car, this so you could breath it, but not 'see' it supposedly. It built back up again anyway. Then they replaced the heater box. Got sick again running only air. Then per my direction, they found 2 a/c valves leaking. Now, still getting sick if in car without windows open and/or if I run the defrost/heat. 4. I have never gotten sick from any other car my entire life. I was perfectly healthy, without even having had a normal cold in the past 6 years. There were no typical cold symptoms with this issue. Before this happened, I had no allergies related to breathing, lungs, etc; nor any diagnoses such as asthma. This defogger heater issue occurred Nov. 28, 2008.

Ice build-up on the front window is known to impair a driver's visibility and cause an accident. The nut on my temperature controller was several turns loose! the original multi-stranded wires soldered to the temp-controller potentiometer were rigid because they were too well tinned with solder and broke from vibration fatigue; due to the loose nut on the temp-controller potentiometer shaft. The car involved is a 2003 Volkswagen Passat. Fuel pump failure while driving on the freeway the car quite running. 1. 8 liter turbo
in o3 vw Passat. Dealer calls and tells us our VIN number is not part of the recall. To call vw of north America and they should cover it. I talk to a women tell her the same thing as above and she ask me to hold while she submits the claim. She comes back on the line after 45 seconds or so and says that they won't cover it. The VIN number is not part of the recall. I ask to speak to a supervisor. I am told there is no one else I can speak to and this is the finally decision of vw of north America. This is not the first failure for this car. Temperature sensor replaced, brake module replaced twice, the heater core replace, the trip tronic shift replaced, instrument panel replaced, the engine flushed for sludge. Cv boots replaced. The car involved is a 1998 Audi A4. My heater recently quit blowing hot air. The vehicle has 75k000 miles and is less than 5 years old. I am told it is the heater core. This seems odd as a heater core should never go bad over a 5 year period. The labor is 14 hours or about $1,200. Then, I was made aware than the Audi dealer stocks heater cores. This seems even more odd as it should not be happening enough for the dealer to want to stock the part. I have had other things go wrong on the car and they almost never stock the part. This leads me to believe that this happens and awful lot. This part should not have that type of failure rate. It was Sunday, November 23, 2003 when this defogger heater issue occurred.

The car is a 2002 Buick Rendezvous. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Buick Rendezvous is 3G5DA03E72_. Bought used in 2004 with 45k miles. In 2006 I had to have the window control replaced. In 2009 at 70k miles I had to have main gasket on engine replaced (was told Buick knew of problem but refused recall) and 2 heads replaced as kept losing coolant & overheating. The very next year the body control module went out & had to be replaced. The abs light has been on for years & no body, not even the dealer who replaced the control module, can get it to go out. Last year the fuel gauge quit working. This year the left front hub has gone bad at 170k so I can't say it wasn't due, but the overheating gauge keeps going into the red & the overheat light comes. Had it check and the thermostat is working fine, I am not losing coolant and the coolant is good, & there is no water in my oil. I can't drive more than 2 miles without the overheating light coming on & the gauge going into the red. This defogger heater problem happened on Thursday, Apr. 23, 2009.

The car involved was a 2003 Buick Rendezvous. The VIN of this vehicle is 3G5DA03E23_. I am not happy with the heater in my 2003 Rendezvous. I have been to my dealer, talked tobuick and also a field rep. (david brie?) I am not happy with answers I have been given. I am not the only one that feels there is a problem. When the heater is put in bi-level position it becomes extremely loud and sounds like the air cant get out when put in heat setting. When put to cold setting the air flows freely. All my other past vehicles never had this problem and when it is extremely cold the car does not heat properly. This defogger heater issue occurred 03/31/2002.

The car involved was a 2002 Jaguar X-type. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Jaguar X-type is SAJEB51D32_. This car has been a disappointment since day one. I bought this off lease from bournival Lincoln/Mercury in July 2005. Since then. . . First was the constant condensation of the windows. . . Something about heater core and seals needed to be replaced. Then the check engine light kept coming on, drive 115 miles to the jag dealer and be told nothing is wrong on multiple occasions. The sun room failed and had to be replaced. When this happened the passenger front seat belt would no longer pull out-completely inoperable. Next cam the chugging, chugging,go syndrome. Ws told it had something to do with fuel sensors and oxygen sensors. Tire blow out on the highway (with kids and mother in the car). Now the bolts holding the strapping to secure the fuel tank fell out. The dealer ship tells me---not from rust---but they are alleging from some sort of valdalism--so I have to pay to have these replaced. Yup. . . It's been an expensive two years. . . . $24,000 for the car, twice towed, warranty covered repair expenses +/- $4,000; uncovered repair expenses still incurring-but it's over $1,500 at last count. . Not to mention numerous drives to Jaguar dealers (this means taking the day off from work). . . . When I bought the car, I purchased a Ford premium care extended warranty, because, as I was informed, "any Ford dealer should be able to handle the car". . . Untrue. It was Wednesday, Jul. 18, 2007 when this defogger heater issue occurred.
