Defogger Controls problem is a common vehicle problem that happens to most car brands and models. The following is a sample list of Defogger Controls problems reported in most popular vehicles.
The vehicle having this issue was a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox. I have a 2006 chevy Equinox that the heater does not work. The blower fan and all the switches are fine. When I turn the temp knob to hot air, only get cold come out. Does not matter what setting the mode door is in. Vehicle no longer blows hot air when heat is on therefore the defroster will not blow hot air as well. This is a safety hazard! if windows are fogged or iced during inclement weather you can not see and could cause an accident resulting in fatalities. I found over 500 complaints about the same problem on the internet. Problem seems to be with a plastic temperature door valve (temperature blend door) that is broken. The cost is over 1,000 and I am being told gm will not fix the problem. I have two small children and we are freezing in my car that I bought to be a "family" vehicle. This is just one more problem to the list of things I have already had fixed in this car since I bought it. This defogger controls issue occurred 10/18/12.

My concern is that this could have caused a fire in the dash while I was driving resulting in severe injury accident or even death. Please contact me if there was a recall I missed or if there is any information as to why this happened. Thank you for your time concern chevy owner. The car was a 2005 Honda Odyssey. Recently noticed like the brakes are not released fully after the application resulting in a "flat tire feeling with noise" took the minivan for scheduled recall service. Per service person, they replaced the caps of brake master cylinder. Driving back home @ 70 miles, felt like the steering loosing control, stopped at the near by Chevrolet service center: they didn't felt any major issues with the steering but felt like the service wasn't done as they said. All the dust was evenly there all over the master cylinder: all over the bonnet. I feel no change with the friction noise from the brakes: " a little worse?"
how do I ensure that a genuine service was done? now I feel insecure to drive on this, like driving on black ices. The electronic system was rest last time, but not it is back to not working good: resulting with trouble with the a/c knob not working smoothly. The failure date was May 26, 2012.

The car involved is a 2005 Hyundai Sonata. The VIN of this Sonata is KMHWF25SX5_. Bought 2005 hyuandi on 12/8/04. Experienced vibration on 12/9/05 took car back to dealership in cleveland tennessee, they said nothing was wrong, but they thought that the bolts that hold the motor in car needed to be tightened. Took car back 3 days later for the same problem vibration, they said that the bolts needed to be tightened again. Took the car back on three other occasions and they continued to tighten the bolts that hold the engine in the car. Finally a representative was called in to look at the car he had me to drive the car and told me that it was normal for the car to have a vibration when sitting still and that nothing was wrong with the car. Also, he said that the bolts needed to be tightened that hold the engine in. The failure date was Thursday, December 9, 2004.

The vehicle was a 2006 Jeep Wrangler. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was 1J4FA39S16_. My wife and I were on a trip in our 2006 Wrangler (with 10,802 miles on it),it was very cold this night and windows were fogging up. We turned on the defroster for the first time and within a minute our windshield cracked. I called our local dealership and was told that my warranty did not cover this item and I had to pay them to replace my window. I later found out it should have been covered. 12 month or 12,000 miles. I think they might have a safety issue wit this so more people need to complain. The failure date was Thursday, February 1, 2007.

The VIN of this vehicle is 1J4FA59S0Y_. 2000 Jeep Wrangler. The wiring to the a/c control switch shorts out and causes a minor fire. The switch has been replaced and it happened again. There was evidence of a previous fix in spliced wiring. The wiring harness is no longer available. Research on Jeep related web sites has proven to me that this is not an isolated incidence and occurs in many of the surrounding model years. There is a design flaw in the three posts that connect to the selector switch, they are to close to each other. This problem occurred on Dec. 1, 2010.

The vehicle involved was a 1998 Lincoln Mark Viii. I have been reviewing the file on Lincoln mark 8's '97 & 98 and noticed that there were at least 10 complaints about the ventilation/heating/a/c blend door problem with this car. How many complaints does it take until you do something about it???? this is not only a very expensive repair to make, but failure, which can happen without warning, results in windshield fogging and inability of the system to clear the windshield . The Lincolns of distinction club, which supports mark 8's have had over 30-40 failures to date, some repeatedly. We now found that this failure happens in Lincoln town car/ taraus, etc, and that Ford has recently changed the replacement part designation. This strikes us as an acknowledgement that they are aware of the problem, but don't want to belly up to the bar and admit it . Can't your offices do anything or is this just a waste of our time trying to get a government agency to move on something that they claim they want to assist but ends in frustation of the citizens who take your charter seriously?. It was Monday, February 10, 2003 when this defogger controls issue occurred.

The vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car was 1MEHM55S62_. The air blend door on my 2002 Mercury Sable broke for the third time this week. It is my understanding that this happens to many Ford customers. This time when it broke, the hvac system was stuck on heating. However, it can also become stuck in a/c mode which would present a problem in the winter if attempting to defog or defrost the windshield. My dealer fixed the defective part the last two times, and I'm sure they'll fix it again. This defogger controls issue occurred Aug. 17, 2005.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer. The knobs to control the heating and defogging is broken. It has been unusually cold in georgia this winter and the defoggers only emit cold air. I have to drive the car early in the morning around 6:10am and I warm the car before my 7yr. Gets in. Now we have to have blankets for her because the car never warms up! my sister lives here too and has the same problem on her 2003 Lancer. There should be a recall for the knobs they are poorly manufactured. Thank god I don't live in chicago or buffalo, we could literally freeze to death in our car, just driving around! I tried to super glue them back together, but I see their is what looks like a mother board behind the knobs and maybe the connection was lost when the two knobs broke. I have had a mechanic check the heating cool and the thermostat and he suggested going online for replacement parts. I did to know avail, Mitsubishi does not offer replacement parts for the knobs, so what do I do? I hope Mitsubishi does something about this, because this is to no fault of the owner this is a defect in the manufacturing of the knobs they are poor quality and should be addressed. I love the Lancer it has served me well over the year and I will continue to drive them. Thank you for attention in this matter. It was 12/02/13 when this defogger controls issue happened.

The car involved was a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer. The a/c knob in the car broke off toward the end of the summer 2013. It has always been difficult to switch from air conditioner to heat. For a while pliers did the trick. When I got a quote from the dealership to change the knob I was quoted $1800. Now it is winter. It is freezing. I have no heat. I was pulled over by police because of foggy windows. I had no defroster because I can't turn on the heat. It was November 28, 2013 when this defogger controls issue occurred.

The vehicle was a 2006 Nissan Sentra. Above about 35 or 42f the air cond runs if the air selector is positioned on any selection that includes defrost, and the only way to turn this off is to turn the air selector to a position that does not contain defrost, pull over, stop the vehicle, turn the ignition off, then restart the vehicle. I am not mistaken, I am positive of this. This is not green, the air is often running all day wasting gas mileage putting more pollution in the air. Heater must be turned on to compensate for the cooling effect of the air conditioner. It was 04/04/2006 when this defogger controls issue occurred.

The vehicle was a 1999 SAAB 9-3. The VIN of this 9-3 is YS3DD58N2X_. The vehicle is a 1999 SAAB 9-3. The VIN of this vehicle was YS3DD55N7X_. 99 SAAB 93 - at 60k miles. . Needed to defrost the windshield. . . Turn the ventilator control and it snapped off. . . SAAB telling me they issued dealers a bulletin on this. . Repair cost estimated between $600 and up to $2000. 00 us dollars. . . Will only warranty the repair for 1 year inferring that at 120k miles this might happen again. . . Personally feel the assembly is defectively engineered . Very concerned about that the cost to repair can approach 1/5 the car's blue book value. . . Very concerned that this will occur again after being repaired and put my safetly in jeapordy. The vehicle involved is a 2001 Suzuki xl-7. I have a 2001 Suzuki xl-7 the ac compressor started making a noise when you turned it on. And then one day we where driving down the road and I turned the air on and my vehicle died. We coasted off the road and tried to start it, but nothing. So, I turned the switch off to the air and the vehicle started back. I had to replace the compressor which was not cheap. And now it is starting to make the same noise I before. Which I can't afford another 900. 00 to replace this one. And Suzuki refused to do anything. I also told them about the vehicle stalling out the middle of the road when the compressor went out.
