The vehicle having this issue was a 2013 Honda Accord. There was crash involved with this Honda Accord. The driver's side mirror is distorted causing the cars to appear further away than they actually are. There is a horizontal line that contributes to the distortion. I have been having a difficult time with this since I purchased the vehicle. It also makes me dizzy/have double vision as I look into the mirror after a few seconds. This distortion caused me to get into an accident where I was changing lanes thinking the vehicle in the lane left to me was further behind me. Both vehicles had extensive damage and the drivers injuries. On several other occasions I have vehicles beeped at me when I am changing lanes because they are closer than they appear in my mirror. I took the car back to Honda for the repairs and the employee was aware of the distortion the mirror causes. In fact, on the way to the dealership I almost had another crash, something I told the Honda representative. As I think back of when I test drove the vehicle before purchase, the salesperson took me on a road where there were no other vehicles passing by us so that I could realize the distortion. I contacted Honda's main customer service number and have been told that Honda designed their mirror that way so that the driver has a larger view of the vehicles in their blind spot. This design is flawed and causes a dangerous distortion making the vehicles appear further away and making the driver think that they have time to change lanes. The failure date was Wednesday, May 29, 2013.

The car was a 2004 Lexus Rx330. The outside rear-view mirrors on the Lexus 2004 Rx330 are hazardous. If the mirror adjustment switch on the dash is not in the neutral position, the outside mirrors rotate downward when the gear lever is placed in reverse. In theory, this would be helpful if the curbside mirror rotated enough so that the driver could view the curb when parking. The problem is that the engineer who designed the system thought the curb would be on the left side--which it would be if you were driving the car in japan. Anyway, that left-side mirror rotates so far downward that the driver is looking at the pavement beside the car, and that pavement can easily be mistaken for a blank horizon. The driver is thus prevented from seeing a pedestrian or obstruction on the left-rear side of the car. The dealer refuses to fix the problem, saying there is no fix. Of course there is a fix--Lexus just does not want to pay for it. The only way to get this fixed is for NHTSA to force a recall. It was Monday, September 15, 2003 when this exterior rearview mirror issue occurred.

A soon as I picked up my vehicle on 10/10/00, I brought to the salesman attention that something is wrong with the driver's side mirror I can't see things properly. He said see service tomorrow. When I was going home that night, the mirror appeared to be like a funhouse mirror. Things looked distorted. Very hard to see things correctly. Went to the dealer numerous times with them ordering new mirrors and installing them. I 'm very upset that it is hard to drive using the drivers side mirror. All I hear from the service manager is still waiting for the local rep. To call me. Please help me and others with this situation. A couple of us said at the dealer that the mirror or housing is defected. They also said other customers have complained as well. This is a serious matter regarding the drivers side mirror. At night it is especially difficult. You can't use correct judgement when turning lanes because things are distorted. The service manager seams very helpful but I'm getting no where. The vehicle was a 1998 Audi A8. Blind spots, rear visibility: Audi's refusal to replace outside mirrors. The passenger's outside mirror an drivers poorly designed and have tremendous blind spots. Driving a $70k with mirror assemblies that do not provide safe rear vision monitoring is outrageous and dangerous. Poor rear vision results from excessively wide c pillars, rear seat head rests that do not have storage recesses or other provisions for preventing them from obscuring large areas of the rear window. The dealer has and Audi have been less than helpful even when I pointed out that a 19991/2 a4 ($30,000) right ouside mirror has almost twice the visual field as my A8. Audi's response to me has been terrible, and their suggested actions include my having to purchase and have installed approximately $1000 for right and left outside mirror. The latest a4's rear head rests recess into the top of the rear seats and provide almost no obscuration or rear vision. I requested assistance from Audi at purchase time rear head rest pointing out my great dane was the only rear seat passenger, and my willingness to sign a release if the head rests were removed and able to be reinstalled easily. Audi has totally ignored my request for safety critical replacements for mirrors, and Audi has apparently terrorized the dealership because criswell Audi is now refusing to even consider any aftermarket part installation on my Audi A8 incuding a back up radar transciever that only needs a two wire hook up and senses objects within 12' of the rear bumper when backing up. Finally each area of concern about that I have about my car, limits my car's utility esp rear vision concerns, and are severe enough safety concerns I have fewer than 6000 miles in 18 months of ownership. The 99. 5 adn year 2000 Audi's have address each of my areas of concern in their new vehicles mirror size, field of view, and rear head rests, however, I am still being stone walled safety issues that have plagued this car since I purchased it. *.
