Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is 1C3EL75R24_. We have two Chrysler Sebrings, one is a lxi and the other is a convertible. Both are 2004 models and both of the hoses to the wiper sprayer broke at the bend where the hood closes, next to the window. They have used a plastic tube that is not flexible, and after a few hood openings, it breaks. I would think that all other Sebrings would have the same problem, but when I contacted Chrysler, they just brushed me off. The failure date was Monday, August 1, 2005.

The car is a 2003 Dodge 2500. A recall is due. Driving the 2003 Dodge heavy duty 2500 hemi pickup towards work in the dark morning hours of 02-10-05 in anchorage alaska, the wiper arm and attached wiper blade on the (left) drivers side windshield fell off at 45 mph while in use on a rare 40 f degree warm morning, heavily sanded and slushy covered road way. The view became instantly blurry and hard to focus on the dangers ahead, while the following vehicles barely escaped the projectile of the assembly of steel and plastic. The second vehicle hit it and destroyed any attempts to investigate its reasons for failure to stay with the truck. When she was able to stop and clean the windshield to see she was greatly shaken and afraid of the final duration to work. She then swapped the passenger side to the drivers side and finished her trip. She called me and told me that the arm fell off again, and said that it had happened before, due to the ice and snow that deposit in the plastic trim cover of the arms locking clip below the arms base. That the arm hits the ice and switches the lock into the off position and than the motor power tosses the arm off the truck in any given direction. The Dodge dealer declares to us this is a common event in the northern environments. They warranted the whole assembly and admitted that this only happens on the drivers side. They admitted the problem was always the drivers side because the way the snow piles and melts into an icy dam in the arms way to operate freely. I believe that a black neoprene doughnut could be placed under the arm and through the splinted socket below the arm to stop the ice damming in this sensitive area and or a screw inserted into the safety tab to prevent the ice from opening the switch. Drivers in the northern climates should be notified about this problem. And the arm could use a leash to keep from leaving the vehicle. The dealer I went to was lithia of south anchorage. Apparently they are aware of the problem. This windshield wiper/washer linkages issue occurred 02/10/06.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2002 GMC Sonoma. While driving in a slow rain, the drivers side wiper arm came loose and flew all the way past the windshield to the left of the vehicle. Although it was still attached, it would not move. Fortunately I was less that a mile from home and drove the vehicle home. My husband got a wrench, repositioned the wiper arm and tightened it down. I was able to then go to work. I contacted my dealer about what had happened and he told me that they have that happen quite often with this model and that I should carry a 13 mm wrench with me so if it happened again I could fix it like my husband had. He didn't want to see the vehicle in his shop or write a ticket for it. They told me it was considered normal because a lot of these vehicles did this. My concern is for safety, if this had been a hard rain storm and I had been going 60 or 65 mph when this occurred, it could have caused a terrible accident. I believe this needs to be looked into as the dealer says that this problem if very common for this model. It was 11/14/02 when this windshield wiper/washer linkages issue happened.

The VIN of this vehicle is 1GTCT19W1Y_. Passenger and driver seats in my 2000 GMC Sonoma have seat positioning controls and locking mechanisims that do not always lock properly and/or get jammed up and have broken. A friend was sitting in the passenger seat and it failed to lock into place to keep it from sliding forward. I adjusted the bolts that fasten the seat to the floor of the vehicle to help 'realign' the seat frame so that the mechanism that keeps the seat from siding front and back would keep the seat locked into position once the seating distance is set. Also, the reclining handle on the passenger side broke off, not allowing for seat back support angle adjustment on the passenger side. The driver's side seat back support adjustment lever often 'sticks' or 'locks' into position. . . . Not allowing for seat back rest adjustment. Rear differential sometimes locks up and or slips and shakes and makes noise. . . Especially when sideways force is applied. . . Such as when turning in a curve or circular fashion with the vehicle in motion. Both tailgate support cables broke on the truck. Front driver's side bearing had excess wear and had to be replaced at 65 000 km. Driver's side wiper arm got dislodged from the shaft that turns it and was knocked out of position on 2 occasions. Power steering fails for short intermittent periods when the vehicle is first started from a 'cold' and 'warm' state and the steering becomes stiffer and less responsive. Most noticable at slower vehicle speeds. It was Monday, May. 15, 2006 when this windshield wiper/washer linkages issue occurred.

The vehicle involved is a 2004 Honda Cr-v. The VIN of this vehicle is SHSRD78844_. I just bought my Honda crv on 09/09/04, in third day I found that the washer container or bottle leak the liquid in the drainer neck, because the connection of the neck and the bottle has no washer rubber to stop the liquid from leaking. I call for repair but excuse for waiting the parts, it seems this is unreasonable. This windshield wiper/washer linkages issue occurred Sep. 12, 2004.

The car involved was a 2003 Hyundai Elantra. After driving approximately 5 minutes during a snow storm the driver's side windshield wiper quit working. The wiper would not move. Of course I could not see to drive in the heavy snow storm. This also happened last winter during a heavy snow storm. Both wipers quit working during that storm. Last year the dealer who repaired the wipers said they were frozen. This year another dealer stated it was a bolt designed to pop so the motor to the wipers wouldn't burn up. The car was heated up both times, and the windshield was cleaned of snow and ice both times before even attempting to drive during the snow storms. This is a very dangerous thing to have happen while driving. Visibility is zero. Luckily I was not on the interstate driving, in which there probably would have been a serious accident. If the dealer is saying it's due to design, then this is a very dangerous design. The dealer is more or less saying this car is not designed to drive when snowing. The car was towed to a dealership and a bolt was replaced. It was 12/22/2004 when this windshield wiper/washer linkages issue occurred.

The car involved is a 2007 Jeep Wrangler 4-dr 4x4. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Jeep Wrangler 4-dr 4x4 is 1J4GA59107_. During a snow or ice storm as the snow and ice collected on the vent below the windshield it gets in the area where the wiper motor and other mechanical parts are, they then freeze and encase the wiper system in ice causing the wipers not to work. When the wipers are needed as road salt and dirt splash on the windshield they do not work. This causes a very unsafe condition restricting visibility. This problem occurred on Monday, Dec. 17, 2007.

I own a 1997 Mercury Sable. The front drivers side windsheild wiper is defective, we have replaced it several times and it continues to be a dangerous problem. Each time it has of course been raining heavily in heavy traffic when it just stops working. We have somehow managed at this point to have no accidents but as I said it continues to do this even after having it replaced. It was Saturday, Jul. 17, 2004 when this windshield wiper/washer linkages issue happened.

The vehicle was a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport. The windshield wiper arm would stick on driver's side of the windshield, and then it would come back. This happened 5 or 6 times, then the windshield wiper arm got stuck over the windshield molding. When the consumer got out of vehicle to adjust the problem he noticed it was loose from the bolt mount. Consumer then drove vehicle to a repair shop, and they took the wiper off, and found that the wiper had torn loose of the sheet metal mounting. This failure occured while driving in the rain and caused complete loss of visibility. This windshield wiper/washer linkages issue occurred Monday, May 30, 2005.

The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was 4A3AA46G73_. I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant ES. It has 69000 miles. As of right now the problem with my car hasn't caused an accident but I am afraid in the future it might. It started with the radio staying on even after the key is pulled, then it went to that if I used the wipers and the headlights at the same time, the wipers wouldn't shut off until I shut the headlights off. We then had to pull the fuse for the horn, because while sitting in the garage, not running, hadn't been running for several hours, the horn started blaring, and wouldn't go off until my husband disconnected the battery. I am scared for my own safety as well as others, to use the cruise. I am scared it will stay on, and I would be involved in a severe crash. Please help, no one seems to know exactly what the problem is. This issue happened on Mar. 5, 2006.

On my 1999 Nissan Sentra 1. 6l,it appears that I am having the same problems with the wiper linkage assembly as on the 1996's,97's,and 98's. There are no recalls for the 1999's! can I get this fixed for free or what? it is a real pain because I can't see out the drivers side window during rain or snow storms. I shouldn't have to pay for a legitimate recall as on other years. This issue happened on 01/20/2004.

The vehicle is a 1998 Nissan Sentra. Nissan has a safety recall for windshield wiper linkage (see NHTSA campaign 98v093000). According to the Nissan web site my vehicle (1n4bb41d3wc720207) is in the range of affected vins. My wipers failed in the exact manner described in the safety recall (wear of the ball joint in the wiper linkage causing the linkage to separate), but Nissan (and the Nissan dealer) refuse to perform the repair work under the recall campaign. They claim that my particular VIN, although in the correct range, is not affected. The failure occurred during a heavy downpour on a busy interstate highway and nearly caused a very serious accident. I think Nissan needs to take a close look at which vins are truly affected by this problem. This windshield wiper/washer linkages problem happened on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003.

The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was 4S3BP686X5_. Last Saturday, during a snow storm, the driver's side windshield wiper arm on the 2005 Subaru Legacy with 11210 miles came loose and stopped functioning. I was unable to drive in the snow storm. The dealer , ganley Subaru, explained this was normal. They stated the wiper linkage iwasnot as robust as they used to be, and the wiper were retaining nut was designed to come loose if there was resistance on the wiper. This was to protect the wiper linkage and motor. This was very dangerous. Especially on a car with all wheel drive marketed for winter use. This windshield wiper/washer linkages problem happened on Sat., Apr. 7, 2007.

The car involved was a 2003 Subaru wrx. When using windshield wipers in the rain, driver side windshield wiper arm slides past area of windshield and gets stuck on side pillar. This has happened five times on the same trip while driving at speeds over 50 m. P. H. On freeway. Windshield wipers then become inoperable until wiper arm is freed from side pillar. Freeing wiper arm required driving to nearest freeway exit in the rain with inoperable windshield wipers. Checked tightness of wiper arm and was found to be tight and secure. However, wiper arm was found to have a lot of "play" in it. It was 12/11/06 when this windshield wiper/washer linkages issue happened.

The vehicle involved is a 2005 Toyota Highlander. The VIN of this vehicle is JTEEP21A05_. The driver's side windshield wiper has a nut which repeatedly comes loose. This causes the windshield wiper to become loose and cease to function. The dealer says that the mechanism was designed to come loose so as to avoid damage to the underlying motor. He said to just keep tightening the nut! in the 27,000 mile life of the vehicle, I have had to tighten it now a total of 3 times. The last time was 6 weeks ago during a snow storm. The inability to correct the problem constitutes a safety hazard due to a design flaw. This windshield wiper/washer linkages problem happened on Saturday, November 24, 2007.

The vehicle was a 2004 Volkswagen Touareg. This headlight washer(s) that pop up from front bumper came off during drive from CA to MD. During the drive back temperature went into the freesing range. Was not aware that when wash the windshield these other washers pop up to washer the headlight. Anyways, they do and due to cold it got stuck in up position and eventually came off. Dealer initially said covered under warranty and now says that since have a scratch on side bumper someone tempered with the washer. However more importantly they said that it has never happened to anyone before. I said maybe not yet or in different region since this was when driving in much colder weather. Also, they also confirmed that it stucks in the down position when they put in a new one. It was Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005 when this windshield wiper/washer linkages issue occurred.

The vehicle involved was a 2001 Volvo S40. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is YV1VS29511_. : the contact stated the windshield wiper linkages are out of sync and lock together which causes a loss of visibility. This problem occurred on both the driver and passenger side windshield wiper linkage arms. After the first incident the contact called the manufacturer's customer service department. They instructed the contact to open the housing on the windshield wiper linkage arm and tighten the bolt. The contact did as instructed on the driver's side and this corrected the problem. Afterwards, the problem returned to the passenger side linkage. The contact took the vehicle to an independent repair shop, and they performed the same repair that was instructed by manufacturer's customer service department. However, the problem recurred. The engine would hesitate when the consumer attempted to accelerate. The dealer replaced the oxygen sensor. Updated 01/25/06. This windshield wiper/washer linkages issue occurred Jan. 2, 2006.

My 2004 Audi A4 3. 0 cabriolet has windshield wipers which at about 8,000 miles of wear began to make an unbearably loud, rythmically repetitive sound on the driver's side. The selling dealer, cherry hill imports, has repeatedly looked at the problem and said there is nothing unusual about this sound, but the car did not do it when it was new. In severe weather , I have resorted to turning off the wipers for a few seconds at a time in order not to be hypnotized by the repetitive sound of the defect. This, of course, is a safety hazard, but I feel being put to sleep while driving is more dangerous, should the defect lead to that. Dealerships besides cherry hill imports have replaced the blades on the car, but the effect of this remedy was non-existent. I feel it is my duty to request the aid of the nhsta to save the lives of Audi owners who labor under this hazard, as well as my own. Thanks.
