Back Up Alarm Problems in popular cars

Back Up Alarm problem is a common vehicle problem that happens to most car brands and models. The following is a sample list of Back Up Alarm problems reported in most popular vehicles.

car   Back Up Alarm problem of Chevrolet Silverado 3500

The car was a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1GCJC33617_. There is a safety defect that could cause serious injury or death to pedestrians. I have purchased a new 2007 Chevrolet 3500hd, ltz pickup truck. This truck was purchased with the factory installed ultrasonic backup sensor system. My system works just like it is described in the owner's manual, but I believe that the design is dangerously unsafe. It relies on visual only, instead of auditory (or a combination of auditory and visual) warnings. Users expect to have an auditory warning and thus will likely hit something or someone before discovering their misunderstanding. Briefly, in normal operation, the system will emit a single beep when it first detects any obstacle while backing up in reverse. When the obstacle is less than 12 inches from the rear bumper, it emits a burst of beeps. This is, of course, so close that it only serves as a panic stop indicator. In between those two audible signals, no auditory alerts are provided. Instead the driver is instructed to look over their shoulder out the rear window and observe a set of lights on one side. As one backs ever closer to an obstacle, first one amber light comes on, then a second amber light comes on indicating that the driver is still closer to the object and finally a red light comes on signifying that you are very close. This system design in inherently dangerous because the driver must look at the panel while backing up to get the benefit of the closing range indication. As anyone knows who drives a pickup truck, especially a â¾ or 1 ton model, you use your side mirrors to backup. This is because the tailgate is so high that you can not see anything but the horizon from the rear window. This subtle but vital flaw means that the driver can backup using their side mirrors but cannot benefit from the ultrasonic system until it is too late or can use the ultrasonic system but cannot see to backup. I have more to add but have run out of allowable space (2000 chr). . Ken johnston. This back up alarm issue occurred Sep. 7, 2007.

car   Back Up Alarm problem of Dodge Ram 2500

The VIN of the problem Ram 2500 is 3D7KA28C54_. Your NHTSA recall on my 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 has caused problems. It is the one that is supposed to alert anyone if the trucks slips out of p and into r by mistake. What is actually does is honk the horn at random time while backing up. I haul a lot of trailer including a 5th RV. You can't imagine the annoyance this causes. It is actually as dangerous as the fix. In my case I was backing up a trailer in a tight area and all of a sudden the horn starts honking. Startled, I turned the wheel just enough to catch my mirror on a tree. I think you will have more property damage and injuries by your "fix" than, the way it was. Please send the Dodge dealers a software option to restore the old way or at lease have the horn just honk once. Your fix has created a very annoying and dangerous problem. Thanks, john. I was involved in an accident 1 time when I was backing out of a parking space and backed into a vehicle that was passing behind me which I didn't see. There has been several other times when I relied on the sensor to warn me if someone was walking behind the van especially someone that is short, I'm unable to see and depended on the reverse sensor to warn me. Each time I went back to the dealer until the warranty ran out to have it repaired. The repair dept told me that it is poorly designed. As soon as the wires to the system got wet it would fail. They changed the harness and it would work until it got wet. It was Tuesday, July 9, 2002 when this back up alarm issue occurred.

car   Back Up Alarm problem of Mercedes Benz 240

The car involved was a 2002 Mercedes Benz 240. I have had a string of problems ever since I purchased my 2002 mercedes c240. I have had the panic alarm fail in a parking lot (fortunately I had pepper spray), I have had my seat retract all the way back and get stuck (I have to drive it to the dealer with pillows and blankets behind me) and have had to turn off that car feature so it won't happen again! my key stopped unlocking my door due to a defect in the key so I was having to leave my doors unlocked. My electrical systems for doors, sunroof, etc. Comes unsynced about once every other month, my sunroof motor had to be replaced, I had a leak in the back of my car soaking the back seats, cup holder quit retracting, fuel line blockages that cause the car to run badly, they had to replace the entire latch essembly in my truck, and other little strange things. My car has been in the shop a ridiculous number of times in its first two years, and after the panic alarm incident, I am too afraid to drive it, and mercedes just refers me to the parts people when I complain. I live a hour a way from a dealer and end up having to spend the day in the waiting room while they fix the problems. Enough is enough. car   Back Up Alarm problem of Toyota RAV4

The car involved is a 2002 Toyota Rav4. I have a 2002 Toyota rav 4. I have taken my car to the dealer for the changes of oil and filter. Twice they suggested a wynns system engine cleaning which we paid for. The last one was done on April 2005. Last October 7, 2005 I was driving my car on the expressway and all of a sudden the oil light lit up and the car stopped. The car was towed from the highway to our house and the next day was towed to the dealer adriel Toyota in rio grande, puerto rico. About two hours later they called me and stated that the motor stalled and the warranty was not going to pay since I had not taken the car to them for the last oil change. I reminded them that just nine months earlier a wynns motor engine cleaning had be done by them and that it was impossible for the motor of the car to have sludge if they had done the job correctly. The Toyota company of puerto rico called to tell me the same thing. I made a complaint at the consumers affairs in puerto , I am waiting for a decision. Today I showed the pictures to an automotive expert who states that the motor have not had any oil changes and the worst was that there was no way that the engine had be cleaned. The dealers states that they have not had any motor sludging on any rav 4 in puerto rico but consumer report states that Toyota has this problem most commonly with camry's . Today I found out that rav 4 have the same engine camry's have. Am I supposed to be punished for whatever problem Toyotas engines have?. It was Friday, October 7, 2005 when this back up alarm issue occurred.

car   Back Up Alarm problem of Toyota Prius

Narrative description. Not a failure but a safety prevention measure 2010 Toyota Prius 1. Event: when backing up the vehicle runs on battery power-hence it is silent when backing up. The vehicle in busy parking lots (walmart) goes unnoticed. 2. Failure: I have surprised people who are distracted and don't notice me until they nearly walk into the side of the vehicle. They don't hear the car. 3. Failure correction: a back-up warning device should be installed to alert pedestrians (blind folks, neighborhood kids, pets, etc) of a silent, backward moving vehicle approaching. There is several blind spots inherent to the Prius when backing. Helping others to notice you seems like "an ounce of protection that is a pound of cure" that is measured in a saved life or crippling injury. The failure date was Nov. 20, 2009.

car   Back Up Alarm problem of Volkswagen Jetta

The vehicle is a 1999 Volkswagen Jetta. Vehicle identification number (VIN): 3VWSC29M9X_. Three out of four door lock alarm sensors went bad within the last year and a half at about the same time whereas while the door was open, the car alarm would sound. The system functions so that if keyless entry is used and computer does not sense doors are open, the vehicle will relock after an allotted time. The vehicle should (and used to) disable the alarm as soon as any of the doors opened. The alarm goes off after the allotted time to lock the car again, even with door open (except for driver's side). This proves incredibly inconvenient while putting sleeping baby back into car seat. Have had two back doors repaired at about $400 per door. Front passenger door not repaired as vw service computer refuses to see issue with sensor. Regardless, alarm sounds while door is open. Also, lock sensor in truck failed with similar results. Replaced at $75. When inquired whether alarm could be disabled, was told it is tied into electrical system and would lose functionality of horn and other systems. This issue happened on January 7, 2005.

car   Back Up Alarm problem of Cadillac Escalade

The car is a 2009 Cadillac Escalade. On general motors cars that light the backup lights while parked and remote lock and unlock are activated. Pedestrians and drivers stop as if the vehicle may back up which should be a proper reaction. I have even taught my children this, people now have a tendency to ignore the backup lamps on vehicles in parking lots as well as creating inconvenient situations as cars and pedestrians stop for unoccupied vehicles. I have found myself driving past these vehicles when they are attempting to backup creating a close call. I know this seems trivial but I see potential problems and it seems to me a simple computer reflash could solve this disturbing trend. In the vehicle description I chose Cadillac Escalade though it seems to be most gm products. This back up alarm issue occurred Dec. 20, 2009.
