Dashboard Failed problem is a common vehicle problem that happens to most car brands and models. The following is a sample list of Dashboard Failed problems reported in most popular vehicles.
The car involved is a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car was 1G1JC52F45_. The gauges are failing to operate. This started with the gas gauge and is now affecting the temp gauge. I took it to a dealer for testing and it reset itself when plugged into the computer for diagnosis and it also does this if you disconnect the battery for a few minutes but very quickly stops working again. It was Wednesday, Sep. 5, 2012 when this dashboard failed issue occurred.

The car involved was a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The vehicle had a crash. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1GNDT13S62_. I was coming to a stop light my brakes did not want to work , then they did. I stopped my vehicle, my lights in my dash went out within a few seconds smoke started to roll from under my hood and cover my windshield. I immediately got out of the vehicle, and called 911. The vehicle was not running at this time, it stopped running. A bystander stopped to assist, he looked from the passenger front tire view and stated he seen flames that appeared to be blue. He wanted to lift the hood but I advised him not to do so, due to my job training I knew oxygen promotes fire. We got away from the vehicle, saint albans fire arrived on scene, the flames were out by the time they arrived, the car continues to smoke. The vehicle was moved to a lot, the key was put in the ignition by the fire department the dash lights did not work even with just turing the battery on. Triple h towing, towed the vehicle to davis smith's auto body. Gieco is my insurer, I had full coverage however they will not cover stating it was mechanical failure. I have no without a vehicle, and no insurance funds to replace the vehicle. I have read online this is a common problem with this vehicle, I just do not want anyone to get hurt in a vehicle fire. Thank you for your time. This dashboard failed issue occurred Wednesday, Apr. 30, 2014.

The car was a 2008 Chrysler town and country. Driving my 2 small children to school and myself to work, I turned right onto a main roadway and the dash went dead, no speedometer, no gas gauge, no read outs, nothing, then about 5 seconds later the dash flashed back on and front wipers went on. This happened several more times between home, school, and work (35 miles one way). As I was leaving work, the dash went dead and stayed dead for up to a full minute several times between work, school, and dealership, before flashing back on and the wipers coming on. Limped to the dealership with my 2 small children in tow. They had to keep my van overnight in order to trace the electrical issue. Diagnostic was run, issue traced to a body harness in the 3rd row seat where a clip had broken off causing the entire system to shut down whenever driving over bumps (even small ones) or rough parking lots and roads. Chrysler was notified, problem documented, dealership was awesome but Chrysler refused to fix. $2200 to fix that I don't have, vehicle not repaired as it requires so much expense and at least 10 days to repair. That's 10+ days I can't afford to take off work. We will never buy another Chrysler product after 16 years of brand loyalty. Dealership tech has applied a temporary fix so the bus doesn't shut down and cause more issues, like total vehicle shut down. Will provide VIN if contacted directly. This issue happened on December 5, 2013.

The car involved is a 2005 Ford Mustang. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1ZVFT80N65_. The gauge clusters failed. The speedometer failed and is no longer working. Rpm and fuel gauge are starting to fail. From what I have read on-line. The 2005 Mustang gauge motors were poorly designed and Ford fixed the problem in the 2006 models but failed to fix the defective parts in the 2005 models. The failure date was Saturday, Jun. 1, 2013.

The car involved is a 2007 Acura Tl. Last month we had to take the car to dealer bc it wouldn't start. Battery was drained due to hands free system not turning off even when car was off, so we opted to disconnect system (free) instead of paying 6-800 dollars to repair. Also car is kept in garage during day and last week we noticed large crack running vertically along outer edge of airbag compartment. No reason for this when car is kept clean and out of direct sun. Checked online and found numerous reports of this happening for no reason. I am worried that airbag may not function correctly or may engage without warning if dash is broken. This is not covered and no recall yet. Very disappointed with this bc I love my car. It was March 5, 2014 when this dashboard failed issue occurred.

The vehicle involved was a 2000 Honda Accord. Dashboard light go out without notice and they turn back on at times. Unable to see at night the speedometer. Gears in car jerk while driving at all times from gear to gear, signs of sand like metal residue in transmission fluid when changed. I purchased the vehicle a little over a year ago and did not think much of it until it became worse and I began to research the possible issues. It was Thursday, Sep. 5, 2013 when this dashboard failed issue occurred.

The vehicle is a 1998 Honda Accord. While braking, car just died (including dashboard electric) and then difficult to restart. After car started no further incident for a few days. Next, while travelling on highway ~50mph at night, car unexpectedly died (no braking involved) and most, not all electric died (emergency flashers worked). No "check engine light" ever came on, before dashboard blanked out. Ignition switch replaced in 2002 with national recall. Mechanic at a loss. Honda headquarters initially denied a problem existed. Car again stalled a few times while braking to slow down or come to a stop, but assumed it might be "bad gas". Evening of 8/3/2011 travelling at ~50mph, car lost all electric 3 times (dashboard blanked out, but headlights worked), but immediately came back on (as though it "blinked off"), without having to restart it. After parking car, took key out of ignition- it was "burning hot". This time when I called Honda headquarters they said it "might" be part of a "second recall", but car had to be checked by Honda dealer service staff. If it was the ignition switch, it would be replaced free. It was explained to me that this was not part of a nationwide recall. Result- ignition switch was bad and was replaced free. I was lucky I wasn't killed or seriously injured in a bad crash. Please order a nationwide recall- it could save a life or lives. It was Jun. 23, 2011 when this dashboard failed issue happened.

The car involved is a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. Car power goes out for a few seconds while driving. Happened several times such as when turning lights on or signal and all lights on dash go out. Car has also lost power when putting it into reverse and had to restart it. Its an automatic so shouldn't be happening. Also auto locks aren't at times. Hyundai has already replaced the radio and locks thinking this was the fix and clearly its not. The failure date was Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013.

The vehicle involved is a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. Shortly after having a new battery installed on my car by our local auto supply store a few months ago, I had to replace first one headlight bulb. . . Then a few days later, the other headlight bulb. . . A couple of weeks later I noticed the gas gauge going bad. It would wobble all over the place. Then I noticed that the guy who installed the battery did not tighten down the terminal. I took it back & he fixed that. Went to church one Sunday morning with an almost full tank of gas. When I started the car in the church parking lot the yellow empty warning light was on. Then I drove to the nearest gas station for a couple bucks of gas. The light went out, but the gauge continued to wobble. Then a week later the check engine warning light came on. After all this, the car passed inspection. Now both the yellow low-gas warning light and the check-engine light are on again & won't go off. The technician told us that the fuel sensor is bad & that repairs would cost up to $800. 00. It was Wed., Aug. 31, 2011 when this dashboard failed issue happened.

The car involved is a 2003 Infiniti G35. Just recently while I was driving my radio and a/c unit on the dashboard blanked out and stopped working. Right after about a minute later the a/c came on full blast with the temperature at 68 along with the radio playing. At that time I was only able to operate the radio from the steering while. This makes me really nervous because I will soon need to use my defroster due to the climate change, I wont be able to see which could cause a serious accident. After researching and finding out this is a common problem with the 03 G35 Infiniti sedan, I called the dealer only to find out my car wasn't on the recall list. I don't understand why my car is not covered since it is the exact same model and experiencing the exact same problem. Please help with this issue. This problem occurred on Monday, October 7, 2013.

The vehicle was a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Instrument cluster went out while driving. This included the speedometer, fuel gauge, rpm. And engine temperature gauge. I had no idea the speed in which I was driving. I have had the car for 10 days. I was heading in the same direction as the dealership when this occurred. Drove it right there and made sure they saw it was not working before taking and turning the vehicle off and on. The dealership said it needed a new instrument cluster and it would be 3 to 5 days to get the part. The dealer tried to get me to take the vehicle and bring it back when the part came in since the instrument cluster came back on. I told them I did not feel safe doing that. The dealership ending up giving me a rental car. This dashboard failed problem happened on Friday, May. 17, 2013.

The vehicle was a 2010 Mercedes Benz C300. Similar to other complaints that have been filed against mercedes, it seems as though the electrical connection to my rear right light (brake light, running light, turn signal, etc. ) has melted and is no longer operational. The entire light is out and I get warning messages on the dash about the problem. It looks like this is the same problem that everyone else with the same make/model as me are having. The car is a 2008 Nissan Xterra. Service engine soon light came on while driving on residential streets. Had code checked. Code listed as p0462. Cleared code then restarted car. Upon starting car none of the gauges worked only the tachometer and speedometer worked. Fuel, temperature, oil, odometer, trip odometer and all warning lights to include turn signal indicators did not work. Upon driving gauges would regain power, but the fuel gauge did not function properly. Took vehicle to dealer. Seems that my VIN was not included in the recall # 10v075000, even though the exact recall repair was done to my car to fix this issue. While the fuel gauge now works, none of my other gauges work. I was told the combo meter that controls my cluster of gauges would need to be replaced. There were no issues with my vehicle until the service engine soon light came on. My vehicle should have been included in the recall stated above, and I find it highly suspect that all of my gauges go out at the exact same time, but according to Nissan these are two separate unrelated issues. I have had to pay $488 to repair what should have been covered under the recall, and now need to pay an additional $590 to repair my gauges. My vehicle should have been included in the recall for other 08 Nissan Xterras. The failure date was Tuesday, October 25, 2011.

I have a 2006 SAAB 9-7x with 92,000+ miles. The fuel gauge had failed at about 65,000 miles and I have yet to fix it because the dealership said that it would cost anywhere from $850 to $1,000 depending on how long it takes to be done. I think this is ridiculous that this is not a recall because I no many many people with the same issue. It is not fair for a defect in quality of a near $45,000 vehicle to be laid on a costumer. Signs of this problem were that the gauge would intermittently read false then regulate to normal. I was told it was not anything to be concerned about by my gm dealer and SAAB. Then one day it would not read at all, and I did not know how much gas I had, stalled getting off an offramp in front of an intersection dangerously stuck, and having to pay a tow bill, then have a mechanic look at it and tell me that it is the cheap fuel level sending unit that gm cheaply makes and he sees this problem over and over again on many gmt360 platforms. This problem caused me to be in a dangerous or even life threatening situation and I should not have to pay for this to be fixed if im not the only one out there with this problem!!! please do something about this before I have to spend $1000 on repairs and hundreds of dollars on a rental car so I can continue with my career!. The car involved was a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta. I bought my 2010 Jetta used in June 2013. A month after I purchased it, I noticed the a/c was not working. I returned it to the dealer and they confirmed that the a/c compressor wasn't working. They installed a new one and I didn't have a problem until 8/7/13. I went out to start my car and noticed I had a light on my dashboard. I got out of the car and noticed my right front passenger side headlight out. I walked around and noticed the drivers side rear tail light was also out. I got home and when I shut the car off and turned it back on, the light on the dash was out, and all my exterior lights were working. It was around this time I noticed a burning smell whenever I exited the car, but I couldn't' pinpoint where it was coming from. I didn't have another issue until 10/25/14 when I was visiting friends 30 miles away. I went to leave, and when I started my car I once again had the light on the dash, so I got out and noticed the same lights were once again out. I had to drive on the highway like this, but thankfully while I was driving they all came back on. The car was fine until 12/14/13 when I went out to start my car in the morning and once again the same lights were out. The last time I had an issue with this was 1/7/14, in the middle of a blizzard. I got out of work and started my car to clear snow off it, and everything was fine. It wasn't until I turned the headlights on that I noticed the light on the dash was on indicating I had a light out somewhere. I got out and noticed that in addition to the same headlight and tail light being out, the license plate lights were also out. By the time I could get in the car they were all working again. I took it to the dealership and they confirmed the 30 amp fuse had overheated and caused the fusebox to melt (hence the burning smell). $500 later my car is hopefully fixed. Thankfully the car didn't burn to the ground. The failure date was Wed., Aug. 7, 2013.

(2) rear tailgate will now unexpectedly un-latch and pop open in which I have to pull over, get out of the car and close it. It is caused by poor sealing which doesn't keep out rain and snow. Once I close the tailgate, it will eventually open again! BMW knows about these safety problems on the X5 and would not help with material and labor cost of $ 1565. This issue happened on Mon., Nov. 20, 2006.

The car was a 2001 BMW X5. VIN of the vehicle was WBAFB33571_. At 40k miles 4. 4 x 5 had electrical failure, all dash lights and digital gauges went out when I turned the car on. Drove with only speedometer and non digital gauges working. Checked fuses and changed a few but could not get them to work. Charged for service to repair 200. Digital gauges are still not all lit. Only partial digits for time and odometer reading. These gauges should work until at least 100,000 miles on any car. I am considering a class action law suit as I feel robbed and cheated to by BMW along with many others. This dashboard failed issue occurred Tuesday, November 30, 2004.

The failure date was Fri., Jul. 6, 2012.

The vehicle is a 2010 Buick Enclave. The instrument cluster failed. It ceased operating. As well, the emergency flashers ceased working. There needs to be carefully designed redundancy for the emergency flashers with rechargeable backup battery. This problem occurred on 01/10/2013.

Dealership said they could not duplicate reported chronic occurrences again in November, December and January and February - told could not diagnose complained to corporate who offered to have car diagnosed for 99. 00; then chargeds assigned were 99. 00 per symptom - great way to deter a customer told by corporate this past week that they did not say that and that the car was unfixable. Also told I was out of warranty and any charges were now on me. Can't fix something no one can/will acknowledge exists if consumer doesn't have the money to pursue the matter. Refusal to offer any other support from corporate. I have sent in 3 letters to corporate. This issue happened on Monday, Mar. 11, 2013.
