car   Horn Assembly problem of Chevrolet Impala

The car involved was a 2005 Chevrolet Impala. Found out my horn stopped working while driving. Nearly got in several accidents because I couldn't sound my horn as warning. Found out from shinee la fleur at the dealership that chevy put in a update to cover the horn from water damage. This should have been a recall not an update. The horn shorted out because water got to the electric part of the horn. This problem could have shorted out my entire electrical system but luckily it only shorted out the horn. The dealer wants to charge me $425 for there mistake. I would like this car to be on a recall for possible damage by water because the shield they put on now protects it. Why wasn't this shield sold with the car from the beginning. The tech stated that this problem does exist on all these cars but chevy does nothing about it. This horn assembly issue occurred 03/19/14.

car   Horn Assembly problem of Chrysler Town & Country

The vehicle was a 2008 Chrysler town and country. We have been having an ongoing issue with our 2008 Chrysler town and country. The horn will start blowing, the wipers will come on, fluid will start spraying, the a/c will come off and on, doorlocks will not work, and all this will happen while driving and when it is sitting in the garage with no key in the ignition. I have a 4 year old daughter and when this happens while driving we have come very close to being in an accident. The only way to stop the vehicle from doing this is to disconnect the battery. Not safe. It was 05/19/2014 when this horn assembly issue happened.

The vehicle is a 2001 Chrysler Lhs. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 2C3HC56G01_. The clockspring on this model is defective and needs to be replaced. After trying to order the part for repairs from numerous distributors and dealers, it was determined that Chrysler has not released an order to make and distribute the part! this is going on over 2 years for our vehicle and possibly longer for other owners of the same model. This part is vital to the safety of the driver, it's passengers and the operation of the vehicle, because it controls the airbag, turn signals and horn!!! the vehicle is unsafe in this condition and posses a possible risk to the driver and passengers in the event of an accident. Chrysler will not give us any information as to when they will release this part!. This issue happened on October 29, 2012.

car   Horn Assembly problem of Dodge Journey

Dodge Journey 2010 - out of the blue begins honking -can honk just once or a series of stutter honks followed by a long blast, then beeps or series of beeps. It is not the alarm, it happens when car is in park with no one and nothing in the car or as you are driving down the street, with hands on the rim of the steering wheel. Fellow drivers are not amused and use middle fingers salute. Unlocking the car does nothing, turning on the ignition does not stop the honking, remote starting does not stop the honking, starting and putting in gear doesn't stop the horn when it is honking, using the panic button and then resetting it does not stop the honking but, one can not make it happen, there is no specific trigger to replicate the difficulty. Happens in full sun, warm but parked in shade, warm but driving down the street, braking has no effect, happens at night cool, at night rainy, at night humid in park ignition off, ignition on (still parked) and ignition on, in gear and moving. Did I mention 60 days out of warrrenty. This horn assembly issue occurred May. 12, 2014.

car   Horn Assembly problem of Dodge Dakota

The car is a 2004 Dodge Dakota. The horn stopped working, I took it to a non-dealer mechanic who found the horns themselves operational when applying an external relayed voltage to them and no fuses blown, he thought it may be a short in system. Horn would not work on many occasions, then one day it worked, the next day it did not. A couple of months later it wouldn't work, I have a tilt steering wheel so I moved it to an upright position, the horn started working, I put the tilt wheel back down and it still worked. The next day the horn wouldn't work even if moving the tilt steering up or down. It seems as if there may be an intermittent short of some kind in the wiring for the horn in the steering column. It has an air bag so it isn't an easy investigation. I haven't taken it to a dealer as Chrysler was closing outlets and I haven't found one to use yet. It was Wednesday, September 18, 2013 when this horn assembly issue occurred.

car   Horn Assembly problem of Ford Edge

The vehicle was a 2011 Ford Edge. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was 2FMDK4JC8B_. Drivers side door latch mechanism is defective. After closing the door the sensor which detects the door being shut is not activated properly. The instrument panel indicates that the door is ajar. The interior lights stay on until the vehicle is in motion. Most seriously however is that while this problem is occurring, the vehicle doors cannot be locked. None of them. A child in the back seat could easily open the doors while the car was in motion. Even if the driver pushes the door lock button to engage all 4 door locks, they pop right back open after a few seconds. The remote will also not activate the security system when you are outside the vehicle. The horn chirps twice indicating that the doors are ajar. It was 02/24/2014 when this horn assembly issue happened.

car   Horn Assembly problem of GMC Acadia

The vehicle involved was a 2008 GMC Acadia. My 2008 Acadia transmission failed as I exited a highway (70 mph) and was going up the exit ramp. It began bucking like a horse. Once I pulled over and parked, I could not go in reverse. The car had to be towed and a new transmission had to be put in it after only 56k miles. Also have had the sunroof / moon roof trays overflow because the drainage tubes are not large enough to drain all the water from the trays. The dealership stated it was a poor design and nothing could be done to replace it. Now water has entered my vehicle causing the electrical box to become wet causing the horn to blow randomly and the car to continue running after turning it off and removing the key. car   Horn Assembly problem of Acura Integra

The vehicle involved is a 2000 Acura Integra. Two small horn buttons are located in the periphery of the steering wheel in the 3:00 and 9:00 positions rather than in the center as with other vehicles I have owned. As I was proceeding past a Mini-bus that stopped in the left hand land in the right hand lane, the bus changed lanes abruptly into the right hand lane. I braked hard, turned to the right, and tried to sound the horn. When the wheel was turned from straight ahead it was impossible to locate the horn buttons without looking away from the road. I suggest that the manufacturer be directed to provide a standard center location for the horn button such that it can be found without looking. In the second occurence I tried to fasten a child car seat into the read seat. While adjusting the seat belt buckle the seat belt folded over inside the slot of the male buckle, jamming. It took over 10 minutes of working at the belt to free it. I am concerned that someone might be frustrated by this and not use the seat belt if it occurred. Two remedies could be provided. One would be to make the opening in the buckle for the belt smaller, or use a thicker belt, such that it is impossible for the belt to fold over. The other option would be to make the buckle slot opening wider such that the belt if it folded over could be more easily released. It was 07/25/2000 when this horn assembly issue occurred.

I am concerned that this might be a fire hazard. The electrical failure also seems to be affecting the horn. There are two horns on this car. One is on the drivers side and one on the passenger side. I am tired of being scared when my horn does not work. After a year, gm should have had this problem resolved. I think NHTSA should now resolve it for them!. car   Horn Assembly problem of Jaguar S-type

The car involved is a 2006 Jaguar S-type. Crash was involved with the Jaguar S-type. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was SAJWA03C36_. February 4, 2009 our s type r Jaguar was the victim of a rapid acceleration/runaway. On February 3 the electronic throttle shut the vehicle off when it was stopped on three or four occasions. The next day, as the vehicle was being driven out of the driveway, the throttle stuck in the open position causing the car to careen out of control. It was towed to hornberg Jaguar in hollywood and the service writer tittered and laughed at my fiancã‰e. Thereafter I received a phone call the next day telling me that the vehicle had suffered front-end damage and that we should call our insurance company. I told her I would have my technical expert who was a product liability witness for me in trials many years ago, pick up the vehicle and tell me what had really happened. I then received a communication that Jaguar was going to send a technical engineer to inspect the vehicle. Nine days later while I was out of state, I received a phone call with a message that the "codes" had been downloaded, there was nothing wrong with the car. There never was an investigation, not even an interview of the driver, no photographs taken of the damage pattern, and to make matters worse, the vehicle brain box was downloaded and then erased. My technical expert tells me the erasure was intentional and was designed to cover up the code which would have indicated an electronic throttle malfunction. My technical expert is alberto ferroni at ital meccanica, 714-893-5096. If no problem existed why did they lie to me and tell me they were sending a technical expert to look at the car, never even interview the driver, and then intentionally erase the brain box? moreover the dealers initial intake form which was not signed by my fiancã‰e is false and fraudulent and makes no reference whatsoever to the runaway. It makes no reference to my providing the service writer with a detailed statement on the following day. This issue happened on 02/04/2009.
