The vehicle involved is a 2006 Chrysler Pt Cruiser conv. While highway driving, seat belt light comes on, then instrument panel lights go crazy and shut down. Vehicle then shuts down - have to pop clutch to get vehicle started again. Took to dealer - could not determine problem even though there are numerous complaints on the same issue. Dangerous situation and Chrysler does not seem to want to address the issue. Too expensive to play hit or miss with a dealership that doesn't have a clue what's wrong and how to fix it. Frustrated and worried for safety when driving. This problem occurred on 05/01/14.

The car involved was a 2008 Chrysler town and country. Was driving down the road when the alarm started beeping, lights on dashboard flickered, and wipers go on and off on their own. Has happened several times. Now the passenger back door automatic buttons do not work and the driver's seat will move forward and back when driving. This is a huge safety issue and the Chrysler dealerships are not helpful in finding a solution. Said it will take several weeks to try and diagnose what's wrong. I am alarmed that more people are having similar issues and a recall has not been made. It's hard to drive when your seat is moving. In addition, sometimes my transmission will not shift. Seems to be an electrical problem. Once I turn the vehicle off and restart it, seems to run fine. This issue happened on Sat., Apr. 26, 2014.

At random times, including while sitting in the driveway, the transfer case on my 2006 Dodge Durango awd will engage the 4wd. It can happen while sitting in the driveway when you insert the key and before you start the engine. It also makes the clicking sound as if it is engaging when you unlock the doors (possible electrical problem?) it can also happen when driving while turning a corner, such as the sharp corners in a drive-thru. The effect is such that one wheel locks up as if one front wheel has the emergency brake on. When going straight there is no issue. I have researched on the internet and found forums where others are having the same exact problem. The problem is that it is random and intermittent, and difficult to reproduce at the dealership. Often their response is to simply replace one or more of the three main components without verifying that is the issue. This can be quite expensive for the owner and frustrating after spending large sums of money and the issue remains unsolved. I feel it is a safety issue because an inexperienced driver might have this issue in a drive-thru, and to overcome the lack of movement after pressing the gas pedal, they may rev the engine. This might overcompensate and cause the vehicle to dart forward into another car, or even into the building as the wheels are turned to go around the corner. If the 4wd disengages at the revving of the engine, this could also cause the vehicle to suddenly accelerate into another vehicle, pedestrian, or building. It was Fri., May. 18, 2012 when this electrical system issue occurred.

The vehicle involved is a 2005 Ford Escape. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was 1FMYU93105_. I turned a corner and was only going 20 mph when the vehicle went dead. I had no control so luckily I wasn't going fast. I stopped the vehicle. I had to get it towed. One mechanic said my coils and spark plugs were bad because of the fuel rail pressure sensor malfunction. Second opinion - the pcm needed to be reprogrammed or replaced. Third opinion - all of the above. It costs $1900 and two tow bills ($275). The engine light had been on for several months. The only code was the fuel rail pressure sensor high input (p0193 generic). This electrical system problem happened on Apr. 28, 2014.

The vehicle involved was a 2002 Ford Windstar. My vehicle was taken in to ace Ford in woodbury , NJ as part of a series of recalls. The 09s09 speed control campaign was one and they did the fixes as well as the rear axle. After getting my vehicle I noticed my abs light was on , my odometer has all dashes , my brake light is on , my speedometer does not work and my o/d light blinks fast constantly. Service was closed at the time so I drove it home. Upon driving every bump I hit it felt like my back end was going to fall off. I took it back the next day on may 21st , 2014 and complained about the issues. They did not seat my rear axle properly and they say they fixed it. As for my dashboard issues , I was told that the 09s09 speed control was installed and it then made another part fail. They said (dealer and corporate Ford) , they will not replace it for free. I have to pay $390 for the part and then labor. I have been in talks with Ford to no avail. I did some minimal research on the internet and found many other people have had the same issue. Ford will not replace the part. It was May. 20, 2014 when this electrical system issue happened.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2008 GMC Acadia. So the window switches don"t work, when I'm trying to open the window it will open but then it won't close back, the steering wheel makes squiking noises and most important the most costly thing to repair was the transmission. We purchased the car used with 53. 000 miles on and after driving another 20. 000 miles the transmission broke I had to pay out of my packet about 4. 000 dollars for the repair I have two small children and when it comes for safety im not sure if we should keep the vehicle. When I'm reading all those recall issues I'm getting worried about my kids safety. It was Tuesday, November 12, 2013 when this electrical system issue occurred.

The vehicle was a 2004 Acura Tsx. Center stack lights out (radio, heater/ac unit) according to internet research many other 2004 and 2005 Tsx owners are experiencing this problem, although Acura had issued a service bulletin, and supposedly increased warranty period to 100k or 7 years, there was no notification to owners. My 2004 Tsx begun experiencing the problem at 120k so the extended warranty wouldnt have helped consumers experiencing this problem after 100k miles. This problem occurred on Thu., May. 15, 2014.

The car was a 2009 Hyundai Genesis. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Hyundai Genesis is KMHGC46F19_. I have encounter this problem multiple time with this vehicle through out my ownership. I bought the vehicle new and have encountered lost of brake lights repeatedly. I am usually informed during a scheduled maintenance that I have no brake lights. The service department replace the z01 diode, but it doesn't seem to be a permanent fix, because I've had this part replaced repeatedly due to lost of brake lights. The lost of brake lights is a very danger situation for all drivers that could result in crash, injury and fatalities. This seems to be a common issue with Hyundai Genesis vehicles per my investigation online. The failure date was May. 16, 2014.

The car involved is a 2009 Infiniti M35. Every time upon filling the fuel tank the in-dash gauge does not register the full amount. After driving a while eventually it does creep back up but not to full. The problem seems to be progressively getting worse. The problem appears to be in the sensors in the fuel tank, just guessing, because all the other in dash gauges seem to be working fine. It was Fri., Nov. 1, 2013 when this electrical system issue happened.

The car was a 2005 Infiniti G35. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is JNKCV51E65_. Fuel gauge registers over half a tank when tank is actually very near empty. When tank is filled up, gauge goes to just above full, and slowly decreases to just over half a tank as the tank nears empty. I have to watch my mileage and guess to know when I'm almost out of gas. This seems unsafe. The failure date was 01/27/2014.

The car is a 2011 Kia Motor Sorento. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 5XYKUDA2XB_. I have been experiencing multiple issues with my 2011 Sorento not starting at all or only starting with the fob in the charger since December 2013. More recently I have had issues where the vehicle won't lock or it locks and then won't unlock until I am able to open the rear hatch manually and then the fob will unlock the other doors. Yesterday I was at a gas station and my fuel door wouldn't open (no clicking sound or anything) until I started the car with the key fob in the charger and then I was able to open the fuel door while it was running. When the vehicle won't start with the fob in the charger, I have either had to use the "unofficial" start method with my foot off the brake and holding in the start button for 15 seconds or if that doesn't work I have had to jump start the battery. My local kia dealership told me that I needed to replace the car battery but I really don't feel that is the issue because there are some days that this doesn't happen at all. I am scared that at some point I will be locked out of the vehicle with my children inside or that I will be stranded somewhere because of this issue. At this point I have only one working fob - I took my car in to the dealer and explained that one of the fobs wasn't working but they told me (after working on all of the recalls for 7+ hours) that the fob was fine. So, I don't even have a backup key. It was 05/22/2014 when this electrical system issue occurred.

The car involved is a 2007 Kia Motor Spectra. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was KNAFE12287_. My car was parked, in my driveway, and had ran fine the day before. I went out and started the car but could not get the car out of park and into reverse. I was unable to even roll the car a little by pushing it, which indicates the car was stuck in park with force. I had my neighbor come over and he managed to, with a ton of pressure, put the car in reverse. Seems to not be as hard on a flat surface but my driveway has a slant to it. Put car back in driveway and tried to leave a couple hours later and same issue. I had to purchase aaa and have somebody come out to pull out of park. Looked on line and there's a ton of recalls big mine the 2007 kia Spectra. Which is the only year not being recalled. I was told, by kia dealership it was safe to drive but pet my research, no it's not. They want to change for repair yet every other kia make is recalled. This issue happened on May 14, 2014.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2013 Land Rover Lr4. Crash happened when the problem occurred. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is SALAK2D48D_. I parked my Lr4 in my driveway, which is on an incline. I shifted the transmission to what I believed was park, but apparently the shifter did not end up all the way in the park position. I shut off the engine using the push-button switch, opened the door and got out of the car. The car immediately began rolling toward me. The door hit me on the way down the driveway, and I was fortunately able to jump clear of the open door into the stairway. The car continued rolling down hill, and the door, still open, hit the retaining wall, folding it back over its hinges. The car continued rolling down my driveway, into busy traffic?a car nearly hit it?and across the street, where it t-boned a Honda parallel parked across the street. I believe that the car and/or its btsi system is defective because it allows you to shut off the car when it is not in park without providing an adequate warning or an interlock. I believe that it poses a danger in this condition. I have repeatedly tried to contact Land Rover by phone and email for two weeks now, without success. This electrical system problem happened on 03/12/14.

The car involved is a 2006 Land Rover Lr3. Landrover lr 3 have a known problem of having water collect in the sunroof area due to blockage in some drainage tube from debris. Cleaning of these tubes is not a regular part of maintenance if you take your vehicle to the dealership for scheduled maintenance or service. The water collect and leaks into the cabin directly over the radio and middle console. It also leaks over the dashboard near the passenger heat register and in the driver's side dashboard area over the heat register. Water seeps into the electric system (the main bcm) that controls many important functions of the vehicle operation. So far I have a short in the radio. Many of the landrover forums online have several customers and owners of landrover Lr3 that have experienced this problem. This defect in the drainage system for the sunroof could cause serious damage / shorting out of the bcm that controls the entire vehicle. The car was a 2009 Lexus Rx350. Exploding passenger side mirror I own a 2009 Lexus RX-350. It's in excellent condition with limited mileage. Last week, we were stopped at a stoplight when suddenly there was a very loud & frightening explosion emanating from the passenger side mirror. The mirror came flying out of its casing, hanging by its wires, & was cracked. Moreover, the fluid that's in these auto-dimming mirrors sprayed/dripped onto various panels, damaging the paint. I just purchased this car (Lexus Es 300 2002 sedan) for my daughter less than a week ago on 4/11/2014 from a private owner, with 267,000 miles and it ran well for a transportation vehicle, seems to have been well cared for mechanically, interior and exterior is in great shape and was checked out my friend a longtime mechanic. My daughter had just left the dmv which was closed today 4/18/2014 and street driving back home. The car made a loud popping sound, smoke started from under the hood and soon flames and she had to pull over and ditch the car. Soon it blazed and the whole front end, engine, windshield the front tires all burned. Fire and police departments showed up, extinguished the fire and did traffic control. The fire damage was control to the front and engine, the firewall did it's job. All the interiors, dash and console are all in tact and in good condition no smoke damage. VIN:[xxx] Lexus Es 2002 information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6). The failure date was Friday, April 18, 2014.

The vehicle was a 2006 Mazda Mazda6. I noticed the cooling fan coming on every time I turn the car on and it doesn't turn off for several minutes after the car is turned off. The engine is running in the normal temperature range, so I don't think the fan should be running constantly. I took the car to my mechanic, who notified me of a recall by Mazda for the fan control module for the same production year and the same make/model. I reached out to Mazda, but they notified me my VIN didn't fall in the range of the recall. It seems odd that the same product would have the same issue in the same car but not be covered by the recall. I wanted to notify the NHTSA of the issue in hopes that Mazda would resolve the issue. Thanks. It was Monday, May. 5, 2014 when this electrical system issue happened.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2009 Mercedes Benz C300. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was WDDGF81X39_. Defective electronic steering lock (esl): hi, my steering lock just went on me as well and was left stranded with no car this past weekend! my 2009 C300 4matic sport has approx. 56,000 miles on it and I am out of warranty. I called mb USA and begged for warranty assistance but was basically told no because as a second owner I did not have the vehicle serviced enough times at the local mb dealership! I guess I haven't spent enough money to date on unwarranted repairs at the local dealership?? after extensive online research I too found that this is a very common problem with the 2008 and 2009 mb C300, and most likely later models as well!. I also found out that the electronic steering lock (esl) failure typically happens right after expiration of the basic warranty. Just like the thousands of mb C300 owners stuck in this situation, I need my vehicle and have no choice but to shell out the money for this repair! (over $1,000). I am scared to death to drive this car anywhere far in fear that another technical/mechanical breakdown will occur. In addition to esl failure, another concern of mine is finding out that electronic ignition system (eis) failure is another common problem with the 08-09 mb C300's. Shame on mercedes for not issuing a recall on the esl & eis issues and sticking it to the consumers. I too plan on contacting my attorney regarding this issue. This problem occurred on May. 19, 2014.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2006 Mercedes Benz Clk350. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is WDBTK56G06_. Bought the car in July 2013 third brake light lense fell off. I checked my brake lights with someone pushing the brake pedal and observed the electrical component dangling loose inside trunk third light space but no cover lense. Didnt notice the lense had fallen off until several strangers tailing me told me. I know there is a brake light issue that is being recalled on a different mercedes model and year. I was thinking that perhaps my vehicle might have the same issue. So I googled this issue and to my disappointment found many more Mercedes Benz owners had the same problem as me. The reason its a disappointment because Mercedes Benz vehicles are highly reguarded as the most prestiged vehicle let alone one of the costly cars. Who would have imagined such small overlooked detail came off the assemberly line. As a further insult Mercedes Benz refuse to acknowledge this as a problem and compensate its customers. It was 05/03/14 when this electrical system issue occurred.

My 2007 SAAB 9-3, has incidents of not starting when I insert the key into the ignition. I get an that indicates "steering wheel lock malfunction. Pull over safely". The vehicle involved was a 2014 Subaru Outback. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was 4S4BRCMC9E_. This is the second incident where the electric parking brake light indicates the brake has been set & not released. The car was towed into dealership yesterday (5/22/2014) for same reason. Dealer stated they spoke with Subaru & were unable to find any reason for the fault. They stated computer indicated the brakes were not engaged but that this same system does disable the electronic stability control when this fault occurs. We are very concerned the vehicle is safe to drive despite the assurances of the service manager ( alex) that the vehicle is safe (no worries). The instrument light on the panel also flashes "check engine light at the same time light flashes indicating parking brake has been set & not released. This issue happened on 05/23/14.

The car involved was a 2014 Subaru Outback. The electronic parking brake engages while the vehicle is underway. When the fault is cleared and driving resumes the electronic parking brake again engages. The mfg ( Subaru) provides a small tool & instructions how to crawl under the car, use the tool to mechanically release the electric parking brake. If a tool is provided along with instructions in the owner manual how to release a faulty electronic parking brake ( which may engage while the vehicle is under way ) this is a clear warning of a possible unsafe operating condition. The car had to be towed to the dealership for repair. The dealership tells us ( this parking brake problem has never happened) the tow truck operator tells us towing vehicles to dealerships because of faulty electronic parking brakes is a major part of his business. This electrical system problem happened on Fri., May. 23, 2014.

The car was a 2008 Suzuki Reno. Vehicle lurched and hopped out of gear. I took the vehicle to the mechanic, he stated the code indicated the transmission range sensor was having an issue, not covered by warranty. I had it replaced at a later date. The fix lasted about 2 months and the sensor again went bad, I just had it replaced again but it did not solve all of the issues, I have to drive in 3 to keep the car shifting and keep it from randomly hopping out of gear. This is dangerous! I have pulled out onto highways and had the car jump out of gear and not be able to manuever to a safe spot, nearly getting hit numerous times. This is a known issue! if you visit any Suzuki or repair forum you will see numerous posts on this exact problem. It is a safety issue as well as a mechanical one. This needs to be investigated before someone dies. This issue happened on October 9, 2012.

The vehicle involved was a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta. The VIN of this vehicle was 3VWRJ7AJ2A_. While listening to the radio with the volume less than 50% the speakers popped and the radio shut off. I took it to two dealerships the second one said something in the radio "burned out. " it appears that this issue is common to this model of vw radio so much so that vw has a "radio exchange program" where they sell you a refurbished model for half the price of a new one somewhere between $600-$1000 according to the vw dealership. This problem occurred on Apr. 27, 2014.

The vehicle involved is a 2007 Volkswagen Beetle. Ongoing issue with starting for approx last year and a half. Have had in to local dealer where purchased and they find nothing other than to tell me to lock my car when in use because the car's electronics are being confused. While trying to start the icons will flash and the windows will go up and down. Sometimes the car eventually starts on a 2nd or 3rd try but other times the car goes dead and a jump is necessary. I have less than 35,000 miles on it at this point in time. Are others having issues or is this dealership ineffective in diagnosing problem?. This problem occurred on 10/17/12.

The car involved was a 2006 Audi A6. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was WAUDH74F46_. While replacing a headlight bulb I noticed that the insulation on wires inside the headlight compartment had flaked off, exposing at least 1 inch of multiple wires (low beam and high beam) all along the length of those wires. Both headlights show the same symptom. High beam wires (+v and gnd) are held together with a zip tie and there is flaking insulation all around it, so using the high beam could result in a short circuit inside the headlight housing. As all of the wires are in close proximity, it is possible that normal use of the car (e. G. Bouncing along a rough road) could cause the wires to contact each other and short circuit. The failure date was 05/19/14.

The car is a 2003 BMW 3 Series. Traveling south on 75,driver door bag deployed for no reason. Applied brakes and ran off side off road to keep from having a car rear end me and then right tire blew out due to drop off. Car shut down by itself. Air bags did not completely deploy. Over head strap hit head and neck area causing soreness and headache. Door air bag caused fragments to hit hand and tore off skin. I thought car was on fire due to smoke smell of wires burning, removed strap off neck and got out of car. If traffic had been heavy there would have been a major wreck. If I had been on 2 lane highway I would have hit head on another vehicle. Monday called BMW and they said someone would call me back. I called every day for a week and was told to leave msg with case mgr which I did. 10 days later case mgr called and said bags are not suppose to fully deflate and she would have car towed to nearest dealer for engineer to look at and once they have car it could be another 2-3 weeks before he looks at car and not to expect any repairs. She also said she does not find any recalls for this car. I told her I found info on internet. Now I am out of car and waiting on BMW to look into. BMW case #nj34146. The car involved was a 2013 Cadillac Srx. Two problems, 1) the fuel gauge does not accurately reflect the amount of fuel left in the tank and 2) the range reported on the instrument panel does not reflect the amount of fuel remaining. 1) visually the gauge needle does not graphically align with the tic marks showing full, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4 and low level. This makes it very hard to figure out just how much fuel is left in the tank. 2) the "range remaining" indicator tracks faster fuel use as the fuel level decreases. The last quarter tank (as shown on the visual gauge) is used up in less than 50 miles, which doesn't make sense if the full tank reads a full range of 345 miles. The range indicator does not seem to correspond to the level of fuel in the tank. With a low amount of fuel, less than a 1/4 tank, the "range remaining" indicator drops off very rapidly, within less than ten miles of distance travelled at constant speed, from a range of about 50 miles to 0 miles left. Driving on desert roads without many gas stations around, makes for a real guessing game. This issue happened on May 29, 2013.
