Fuses And Circuit Breaker problem is a common vehicle problem that happens to most car brands and models. The following is a sample list of Fuses And Circuit Breaker problems reported in most popular vehicles.
The vehicle is a 2012 Chevrolet Volt. The VIN of this vehicle was 1G1RB6E42C_. The standard charge cord unit supplied with the vehicle by the dealer has failed twice, and I believe it poses a fire risk. The first occurrence was 9/1/12 at approx. 18,000 miles. Corrosion was noted on the plug. The dealership technician blamed rust from a recent rainstorm and replaced the charge cord unit. The second occurrence was yesterday at 32,350 miles. The car suddenly stopped charging. On inspection the charge unit and cord were extremely hot, hot enough to have potentially caused a burn or an electrical fire in my garage. Over the past 2-3 months, I have noted gradual onset of corrosion on the outlet and the charger plug. (of note, there has been no rain here in las vegas for several months). The dealership replaced the charge cord unit today. I commented to the service technician that I believe there is a problem using solely the 110 Volt charger in a regular household outlet. Dealership personnel implied that the Volt is supposed to be charged on a dedicated circuit breaker with no other use. However, this information does not appear anywhere in the owners manual, nor in the charge cord unit manual I received today, nor have I been told this at the time of purchase, nor at the time of the initial charge cable recall in early 2012, nor on 9/1/12. The only printed information about charging is that the Volt can be plugged into a regular household outlet (owners manual 1-20), and that it is recommended to leave it plugged in in temperatures over 90 degrees f. To preserve battery life (owner's manual 9-44). On review of websites and blogs, I note that other Volt owners have had a similar problem. This fuses and circuit breaker issue occurred 09/01/12.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2013 Ford Edge. Arriving home the evening of February 15, 2014 my two sons (both adults) smelled something burning when we got out of the car at our house. Upon inspection, they noticed the rubber cover over the positive post on the battery had melted slightly. I called the nearest Ford dealer Monday morning (2/17/14) to have them check it out. They discovered that the wrong circuit breaker assembly had been installed on the battery. And to make matters worse, the fuse was by-passed with the use of a large paper clip. Talk about rigging something up!!! this paper clip had gotten so hot it even burned a hole in the top of the battery about the size of a quarter. I have a photo. This was only discovered when the new circuit breaker assembly was about to be installed. It was all hidden by the rubber cover. We did not think to inspect this upon purchase in July, 2013. It was a brand new car! this was a tragedy waiting to happen. Fortunately it did not. But someone at either the manufacturer or the dealership rigged this instead of putting the proper part on it. This problem occurred on Saturday, February 15, 2014.

I have had two problems with my 2006 Honda Ridgeline. The first was with the original battery. From the first week until I replaced the battery myself the factory installed battery would go dead. I would contact the dealer and was told to bring the vehicle in. In order to do this I needed to jump the battery which in turn allowed the battery to becomecharged while driving it to the dealers 20 miles away. This type of incident happened over 15 times, each time I was told to drive the vehicle to the dealer, each time when I got to the dealers they found nothing wrong with the battery, it was charged. Mean time I told the dealer that in order to get the vehicle to them I needed to either jump start or charge the battery which in turn would make it appear ok once I arrived at the dealership. Every time the dealer ship refused to replace the battery because it appeared ok. I had to go to sears and put a new die hard into the truck myself since the dealership refused to do anything. This issue happened on 03/12/2008.

The vehicle involved was a 2001 SAAB 95. Dt:the owner had problems with SAAB beginning in June. While driving 30 mph the car shut down. The car had no electrical power or power steering. The owner got off the main road and got onto shoulder. The owner's car ended up at SAAB pacific, the owner found out that her friend had a similar problem. The mechanic told her that parts failed on every 1995 SAAB. Manufacturer knew about it but were not doing anything right now. The mechanic determined that the failed part was an ignition discharge problem. The part was replaced. There was another electric system problem in July. While driving windshield wipers and mirrors failed the car was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the owner needed to replace the dice cassette. The dealership spent 3 days finding a dice cassette, and owner decided not to replace the dice cassette. The owner went back to mechanic who replaced a relay fuse. This corrected the problems with the electrical system. The vehicle was regularly serviced and the records were available. This problem occurred on Jun. 9, 2005.

The car is a 2007 Saturn Ion. Vehicle identification number (VIN): 1G8AW15F57_. I was on my honeymoon in orlando, FL. On Nov. 17th, 2011 when it went out the first time. I discovered that when I turned the vehicle off and started it again, that the power steering would return to proper operation. Since that day, it has been intermittent. No typical timing or environmental situation, just randomly stop working. It did that for several months until 3 weeks ago when it would shut off 5 minutes after starting the vehicle every time. Now, it does nothing, it never comes on. I checked both fuses and being in the vehicle industry myself, I know that a fuse, relay, or circuit breaker just dies. I feel that if it were the fuse, it would not only work sometimes but it would not work at all. I am expecting the manufacturer to replace this. As this is my 3rd Saturn and I had well over 200k on the other 2 with no problems at all. This problem occurred on Thu., Nov. 17, 2011.

The car involved is a 1998 Subaru Outback. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Subaru Outback is 2S3BG6854W_. Both fuses on the cooling system fans failed within the same drive. I checked the one marked in the 1998 legacy owners manual for the cooling fan and it was number 13 in page 11-7. I checked for the other one and it was under the hood and it was night time and I didn't have a flashlight or light. I could count where the fuse was and in the book it stated it was # 25. I pulled the fuse 25 and it checked out good and I put it back in the slot. However, I checked in the day time under the fuse cover under the hood and it indicates that fuse #22 is the correct one. I checked that and it was blown. I notified Subaru a month ago and have not heard back from them about this issue. It seems though that there should be a change in the manual as it would have probably made a difference in this situation. The safety issue is that with both fan fuses blown the vehicle can stop due to an overheat at an unexpected time and cause and engine failure that can lead to an accident. The number 25 is actually a spare fuse area and does not have an electrical connection but the number 22 is a different configuration with a vehicle that has an accessory power socket in some vehicle. I am not sure you would classify this as a safety problem but I am informing you if you do. **dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis*768183. I bought a 2004 Suzuki Verona 4 door sedan, in October 2003. Since then I have taken it to the dealership numerous times, they keep sending me away without fixing it, they say when the car stalls thats the way it was designed. And all the cars I have owned in the past I've never heard of them being designed to stall!! it does not accelerate properly, the car stalls miss fires when cold, it doesn't shift right, the service person said that it was my driving (bull)! the mechanic supposed to fix the clock three times and still doesn't work, the heated seats don't work properly, the cigerette liter doesn't work, they said it was the fuse but the fuses are good. I am extremely unhappy with the proformance of this car, they have told me that nobody else has had any complaints, that mine is the first. There needs to be something done before somebody gets hurt or even killed, especially today when I tried to pull out into traffic and it didn't wont to accelerate it started to go and it wouldn't move, after I proceeded to go it wouldn't do nothing almost causing me to get hit by an on coming car, that wouldn't slow down!!! disgusted in south carolina!!! while driving the car my husband eyes became irritated, smelt something burning, shortly after, smoke blew-out from the left air vent into the car and then fire sparks. As the car was moving, he noticed the smoke, slowed down, forced the gear into park and dash out of car. The fire spread from the front to the rear of the vehicle, causing an estimated $22,000 loss which is a total loss. The georgia, dekalb county fire services - incident report num. 02-049367 which was examined by the fire chief clearly state the area of fire origin came from operating, control area (fues box) and form of material ignited was electrical wire (faulty wiring). Our insurance company is now investigating and has also determined a total loss. Called Audi corporate and filed a complaint about this total financial loss and our concern of faulty wiring that can possibly cause death or bodily injury to other car occupants, without any prior warning. Audi has not called us back and has not taken any action as of 13 days after the incident. Luckily my husband escaped this fire hazard car, but will someone else be as lucky. The vehicle involved was a 2009 Cadillac Dts. The VIN of this Dts is 1G6KD57Y89_. Vehicle failed to start after being parked overnight. Engine would crank but not fire. Dealer found rear fuse assembly to be in a "melted condition"; fuel pump fuse/relay was charred. Entire fuse assembly required replacement. Dealer could find no cause for problem. My main concern is this assembly is located under the rear passenger seat next to the batteries. The power surge that caused such heat damage could, in my opinion, result in a fire in the vehicle, or at the very least burn anyone sitting in the rear seat compartment of the vehicle. It was 06/15/12 when this fuses and circuit breaker issue occurred.
