car   Wiring problem of Chevrolet Malibu

The car is a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving my car a service light came on. The message was "service traction" and "service esc". The car will loose power and act like it's going to die. I took my car to a Chevrolet dealership on 2 different occasions and the first time they would not look at it because they could not figure out if it was under warranty. The second attend at the dealership they diagnosed the problem as the wiring harness and it needed to be replaced. On may 14, 2014 gm recalled Chevrolet Malibu's for the model year 2004-2014. I contacted gm about the recall and was denied help to fix the problem with my car. I informed the person I spoke with that my car had been diagnosed by a dealership with the same issue as the recall. Gm informed me that I could pay to have the vehicle fixed out of my own pocket and maybe get reimburse at a later time. I explained my concern for the safety of my child that gets transported in the vehicle and they did not care. The lady on the phone just kept repeating that I could pay out of pocket for the problem. I have read online that it was all models recalled from 2004-2012 but I am still getting denied help. This wiring problem happened on 04/01/2014.

The car involved is a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado. The VIN of the problem Silverado is 1GCHK29K48_. Vehicle was stopped, waiting to enter road, dashboard lit up like a christmas tree and smoke started pouring from under the hood. Turned vehicle off, called a tow truck and it was taken to our mechanic. The sealed internal fuse box and wiring harness conections had caught fire and burned, damaging the main fuse panel that costs $450 to replace and the main wiring harness connected to the fuse box. I have read several complaints filed by other Silverado owners for the same reason but their vehicles completely burned to the ground. car   Wiring problem of Chrysler Town & Country

The car involved was a 2011 Chrysler town and country. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is 2A4RR5DGXB_. We purchased this van in 2013 from a dealer. Several months after the purchase the blind side detector intermittently stopped working and the dash alarm indicated that it needed service. Since we did not consider this a safety issue and the great expense to repair the detector, we waited to have it serviced until the time of inspection. After a few more months the system stopped working completely and the backup camera system also stopped working. On may 21, 2014 we took the van to a reputable mechanic and after many labor intensive hours, he removed the defective module from the vehicle's rear wheel well. Almost simultaneously, the connecting plug and wiring began smoking and had to be removed and replaced to prevent fire. The mechanic showed us the corroded module. The position of the module in the wheel well had naturally made it susceptible to excessive exposure to water, snow and salt from tire back splash causing the corrosion. Several times we had smelled something burning, but the odor never lasted long enough to get the car to a mechanic to find the source. We replaced the tires and the brakes, but the smell still occasionally continued. Now we know the source. We spent $1500. 00 to replace the necessary parts in our car and we would like to be reimbursed. This defect could have caused a fire resulting in damage to the van and possible personal injury to any passengers. Since there is a second module on the left side of the vehicle, we are concerned that the same problem will occur to that module and/or both within the near future. This problem occurred on Wed., May. 21, 2014.

car   Wiring problem of Dodge Ram 1500

The vehicle was a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500. I had both the high and low beam on the passenger side out on may 9th. I took it to the dealer and told them that it seemed strange both bulbs would go out at the same time. The dealer pulled the front end apart and changed both bulbs on the passenger side and told me they were burned out and are now fixed. May 10th at 6:30am I got up and started my truck and once again the passenger side high and low beam light was out. The dealer told me the technician actually made sure it was only the bulb no wiring or connection problem and does not know why it is out again. It is very dangerous and also a violation to be driving with a headlight out in the state of maryland. Several other people have reported this problem with the faulty electrical connection to the headlights and something should be done before their is an accident or worse. It is now in the same dealer again to see what excuse other than a bulb issue they can come up with to charge me again. I would highly recommend Dodge look into this and fix it immediately. This wiring problem happened on 05/09/2014.

car   Wiring problem of Dodge Ram 1500

My 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 mega cab began to have problems with the rear controls, I. E. The door locks, power windows, speakers, dome lights. Doors to not lock or unlock nor does the safety auto lock work. Window rolled down but not up. Vehicle was taken to the place of purchase and discovered that under normal use of the rear door, the wiring harness had several broken wires in it. It was fixed for $340. I believe I now have problems with the passenger side wiring harness. Is this a manufacturer defect? how do the wires break inside the harness which are also inside the door and/or body of the truck. I now know of two other people with Dodge Ram 1500's that are also having the same problem. I have two small children, I should not have to worry about their safety because of faulty wiring!!. The failure date was Wed., Nov. 13, 2013.

car   Wiring problem of Ford Escape

2013 Ford Escape. Consumer writes in regards to "engine fault- service now" warning appeared on the dash when starting vehicle. Consumer states vehicle stalled and lost all power. The consumer stated the first engine fault light happened in October 2013. He turned the engine off and re-started it again, and the light didn't come back on. The second fault occurrence as he was leaving the house in mid-February. The vehicle moved very sluggishly and didn't appear to be getting any power. On March 15, 2014, the vehicle stalled and lost all power. The only message that displayed said to put the vehicle in park. Fortunately, the vehicle started again. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but a diagnostic test didn't reveal any problems. The dealer kept the vehicle for 2 weeks, with no success in finding a problem. The next morning, the engine fault service no error message appeared on the dash. When his wife attempted to drive away, the vehicle accelerated sharply and took off down the road at a high rate of speed, leaving her with no control of the acceleration or speed of the vehicle. She applied the brakes, and the vehicle stopped. The consumer drove the vehicle to the dealer, and on the way there, it repeatedly sputtered and then it suddenly accelerated and lunged forward all the way to dealer. Even the engine fault code displayed on the dash, the mechanic was unable to get an error code on the computer. The mechanic test drove the vehicle with the consumer, and it was then the vehicle exhibited everything the consumer was referring to. When they returned, the mechanic, hooked the computer back to the vehicle, and an error showed a harness issue, which was related to a wire splicing into two wires, which somehow became tangled during assembly. This wiring problem happened on 10/01/13.

car   Wiring problem of Ford F-150

The vehicle involved is a 2003 Ford F-150. The VIN of this vehicle is 1FTPW12527_. Vehicle lost all power (in dry climate), including steering, and brakes at approximately 50mph. Came to a stop using the emergency brake. Had two near misses while attempting to come to a stop. Vehicle had to be towed as the ecm (engine control module) was no good. Had prior misfires in engine, which Ford had diagnosed as a bad head valve. After rebuilding the heads, the problem continued (while under use in dry climate). Incident occurred, at which point the vehicle had become disabled. 2nd Ford dealership diagnosed as "electrical problems" which had allegedly caused the vehicle's ecm (engine control module) to short out. No more than 500 miles and/or 3 days after replacement of the ecm and fixing of unspecified "electrical problems" (and in moist climate), vehicle would have periodic misfires which would on occasion be so severe so as to drop all gauges on dash to their "off" positions, but with the engine still running (under stress from supposed misfire which would shake the entire truck). On two later occasions, while idling at a stop light the vehicle would repeat the same condition as with the initial incident, where the vehicle would completely shut-off, with exception that on the repeat occasions, the ecm was still functional and I was able to restart the vehicle. A 3rd Ford dealership was unable to diagnose exact problem but suggested replacement of coils followed by wiring as a possible fix to the misfire. I removed the vehicle to a dry climate and replaced all plugs, coils, and boots for testing. Vehicle successfully functioned under dry, moist, and snowy climates afterwards. Continues in operation and is currently at +/- 155,000 miles. This wiring issue occurred Sat., May. 12, 2012.

car   Wiring problem of Honda CR-V

The car is a 2003 Honda Cr-v. Driving kids to school in early morning both headlights simultaneously burned out at same time leaving only parking lights for illumination. Drove in dark back home. Later discovered high beams to be functional. Was searching online for fix and ran across many people who had same problem and complained of burnt wiring. I removed steering column cover and found no burnt wires at any connection. Checked bulbs and indeed they were both burned out. Seems odd both lights burned out at exactly the same time??. car   Wiring problem of Hyundai Accent

The car involved is a 2009 Hyundai Accent. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is KMHCM36C89_. Around 75,000 miles, vehicle is 4 years old, airbag sensor went off (no accident or anything). I brought the car to the dealership to have it looked at. Came back estimating roughly $1,200 repair to replace the passenger side seat. I told them it is probably just a blown fuse and to check for that, they refused and said they've seen the problem before and that the repair is not covered under any warranty and that it was likely my fault due to a spilled drink. I've never spilled a drink in this car or even left the windows open. Therefore, the problem is most likely due to faulty wiring. I refused to pay the $1,200 repair. Now I am writing this because I am likely to fail inspection and will be forced to repair it. I want to increase visibility of this issue. It was Wednesday, April 17, 2013 when this wiring issue happened.

car   Wiring problem of Hyundai Elantra

The VIN of the problem Elantra is KMHDU46D57_. My 2007 Hyundai Elantra was supposedly previously a part of Hyundai recall number 092 for brake light switch failure. According to Hyundai customer service this problem was repaired on March 09, 2010. I understand now there is a new recall out there for the same issue. I did not receive any notification of this recall that was issued in April of 2013. So I am assuming that according to Hyundai my vehicle is not a part of this recall. This will be verified with another phone call to Hyundai customer service. . My brake light switch has failed again and I am without brake lights. I find it hard to believe that something as critical and safety oriented as a switch that controls the brake light function of your vehicle could fail twice within a 6 year period. Unless both parts are defective. In fact in my past ownership of many vehicles and also of the vehicles of friends and family members I have never heard of this switch failing once let alone twice! Hyundai is telling me that since the recall was already performed on this car in 2010 (before I purchased the car) that they are not liable for this repair or recall. The campaign id# for the latest recall is 13v113000. It was issued by Hyundai-kia America technical center inc. How am I to be sure that when the car was repaired (if it was repaired properly or at all) in 2010 it was not repaired with the part from the current recall? the vehicle has yet to be repaired and I will be in contact with Hyundai customer service once again. In researching this issue I also learned of problems with the air bag warning light illuminating on the dashboard. Also with the sun visors cracking at their plastic connecting point. Causing the sun visor to fall off and the wiring to be exposed. I have also recently experienced both of these issues. This wiring issue occurred Aug. 21, 2013.

car   Wiring problem of Land Rover LR3

The vehicle is a 2005 Land Rover Lr3. This vehicle has had numerous problems from excessive tire wear to cruise control not shutting off when depressing the control button on the steering wheel. Now there is a excessive water leak that has caused electrical problems such as parking brake malfunction, windshield washer to fail, numerous warning lights coming on. This all causes me to not use the vehicle, until it dries out, for fear that the leak from the sunroof will cause electrical failure while driving. Also the wiring is probably becoming very corroded and could short out causing the vehicle to catch fire. During the warranty period of this vehicle it was extremely difficult to get Land Rover north America to acknowledge any of these problems other than they were unique to this vehicle. It was Aug. 24, 2013 when this wiring issue occurred.

car   Wiring problem of Mazda MAZDA3

The car was a 2004 Mazda Mazda3. While driving on the freeway at 65 mph at night, my lower dash (radio, hvac) and steering wheel controls lighting went out for about ten minutes, and then came back on. This started happening intermittently from that point on, shutting off and coming back on randomly, with the lights being out continuously once for about 30 minutes while driving at night in traffic. The safety concern is that I just discovered the tail lights were also going out at the same time. Indications are that the cause is a defective passenger junction box (pjb). This is a serious safety issue and an unacceptable engineering flaw which appears to affect other drivers of this vehicle model as well. Due to prohibitive cost of jsb replacement and uncertainty of the integrity of that part itself, it may be necessary to install a failsafe independent wiring solution for the brake lights to ensure required reliability. The failure date was Sunday, Sep. 15, 2013.

car   Wiring problem of Mitsubishi Lancer

I have an 09 Mitsubishi Lancer ES sport with the sun and sound package. The amplifier, which is under my drivers side seat, for the sound system started smoking and sparking. I took it to the dealership, who replaced it, and a week ago, while I was driving, it started smoking and sparking again, but stops when you power off the radio, if the power is on in the radio, it continues to smoke and spark. I believe there may be a wiring defect in my car that is causing this to happen and fear that if it continues my car may eventually catch on fire. Dealer will not look at it again unless I pay $120 initial fee. It was Friday, January 11, 2013 when this wiring issue occurred.

car   Wiring problem of Mitsubishi Lancer

The vehicle involved is a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer. The VIN of this vehicle was JA3AJ26E64_. Just left a auto car wash and within about two minutes smoke rises from the center floor console. I pulled into a nearby gas station about a block away. Parked away from the pumps. Demanded a fire extinguisher from the attendant. Returned to the car as flames just started to erupt from the console . The dry chemical extinguisher made quick work of the fire. I don't think between the smell & sight of smoke and putting out the fire five minutes elapsed. I think the wiring must have shorted. The cigarette lighter never worked. The only other the device on the harness into the console is the p-r-n-d illumination panel. The fire caused the plastic console housing to melt down into the top of the transmission linkage. The tow tuck operator was able to cut the melted plastic off of the linkage & I was able to dive the car home, a few blocks away. Apparently there wasn't damage to the metal linkages to the transmission. The cars' been declared a total loss!. This problem occurred on Jun. 24, 2012.

car   Wiring problem of Nissan Titan

The VIN of this vehicle is 1N6AA07C48_. The Nissan Titan button on the shift lever that shifts manually, after manual shift is turned on, stopped working. This happened while I was pulling a trailer coming down from the mountains. This left my transmission in 4th gear and was not able to use the compression to help slow me down. I was able to get the truck back into normal automatic mode and I had to ride my breaks down the mountain to a flat area and swap vehicles to tow the trailer. After this incident I found that this issue is very common and is specifically caused by normal use of the vehicle. Meaning using the shift lever to pull the tuck out of park and back into park. This motion starts breaking the wiring on the controller. Nissan stated that there was nothing on record of this being a safety recall. It was Tuesday, March 18, 2014 when this wiring issue happened.

car   Wiring problem of SAAB 9-3

The car was a 2007 SAAB 9-3. I was driving my 2007 SAAB 93 aero. There must have been something faulty with the wiring of my seat warmer. It had gave me a slight burn on my left bottom/leg area. Good thing I turned it off in time because I also started smelling as if an electrical fire had been starting. It smelt of burned leather and possibly other components. After contacting the dealership there where unwilling to take care of this issue for no cost but in my opinion that should be the least of there worries. This to me is a liability issue and a possible fire hazard. This wiring problem happened on 01/10/12.

car   Wiring problem of SAAB 95

The car is a 2002 SAAB 9-5. Fuel system, gasoline:delivery:hoses, lines/piping, and fittings summary: driving on highway, pressure line from fuel tank came loose and started leaking massive amounts of gas all over the underside of the vehicle and street. Stream of fuel on highway alerted driver. Lost unknown amount of gallons of gas quickly . Had to pull over and call for tow truck to take to nearest facility. I evacuated the car due to large amounts of gas under vehicle and streams of fuel near hot exhaust pipes. Technician discovered fuel line had come loose after looking inside port from under back seat. No evidence of any breakage or other issues the first event-- the line simply came loose and was easily re-attached. The second event happened in June 2007 and fuel again was pouring out from the underside in a parking lot. I called the same independent dealer who immediately had the car towed . This time the repair was done with metal straps to prevent any further coming apart. I then received a recall letter from SAAB after this occurrence two times. I was told by SAAB USA to submit repair orders for reimbursement which I did. I received a denial letter until an authorized SAAB dealer could check the work completed by the independent dealer. I was called by the authorized dealer in marietta, GA and told that I may need a complete fuel assembly for $1100 due to the independent dealers repairs affecting electrical wiring. The car is at the dealer for investigation and hopefully a SAAB USA will stand behind the needed repairs. Consultation on internet chat room Saabnet. Com finds that at least 4 other owners of similar vintage SAAB 9-5 vehicles have experienced this same problem. SAAB USA is questioning my repairs at the independent dealer. It was Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006 when this wiring issue happened.

car   Wiring problem of Saturn VUE

The car is a 2008 Saturn Vue. We were driving i55 south near batesville,ms. At about 7:30pm when the lights started dimming and all the lights on the dash lite up airbags, check engine etc. I immediately pulled off at the batesville,ms. Exit and headed east to the walmart. . The mechanic checked the battery and decoded the SUV and said that the problem was the wiring harnesses which rest on top of the battery. The main brain of the SUV litterly rest on top of the battery. The mechanic shook the harness and the SUV cranked but the lights were dim and we drove it home. I looked at it the next day and the harness is fastened to the top of the battery and it wasn't completely fastened. When the person installed the new battery at autozone it must have not gotten completely fastened. I looked further and noticed that the conduit on all three branches had disintegrated and wires were exposed. There was a wire tie that was clipped below to the battery box and since the conduit disintegrated this causes the wires to pull out from the brain of the SUV. I pulled the wires back up and wrapped these three branches with tape separately. At the bottom where the three went together,I put extra tape and another wire tie to the battery casing. It still jars loose on occasion and I can tell when the light dims at the odometer. I generally raise the hood and push on the first harness until the light stops dimming on the odometer. I won't drive this SUV out of town. I think this was a poor design and gm could have put the brain somewhere else. I retired from gm's delphi packard electric division and used to check first piece sample wiring harnesses. I am thinking they probably used the wrong conduits because they weren't heat resistant, but these wires shouldn't shake loose unless they are unseated or broken. These three connections can completely shut the SUV off even when you are driving if they come loose. It was 12/14/13 when this wiring issue occurred.

car   Wiring problem of Saturn VUE

The ignition lock on my Saturn Vue has been giving me problems over multiple occasions since may of this year. It locks and at times doesn't allow the key to turn the car on and sometimes once on, it doesn't allow it to shut off. I have taken it into a certified dealer for repair and it took 3 tech's to find that the only issue they could find was a wiring issue under the car but still nothing with the ignition lock as it works on and off. I have reported this with Saturn once already and they have done nothing to remedy the situation. I have been stuck at random stores and late for work and even had to rent a vehicle to take our son to see the specialist in another state. We took it for a oil change today and new battery and once again the tech had a difficult time with turning the key. However seeing as it was at a walmart oil & lube express, they were not equipped to handle that type of repair. Today's mileage is 132200. I am highly recommending against anyone I know of buying Saturns at this point. The customer service is far less than desirable and I wish I had never made the purchase myself. The failure date was 05/13/2013.

car   Wiring problem of Subaru Legacy

The car involved is a 2006 Subaru Legacy. VIN of the vehicle was 4S3BP62616_. Rear window defroster ceased functioning. The problem was due to broken wire in a wiring harness that passes through a rubber accordion boot between the car body and the tail-gate (near the right-hand tailgate hinge). The left hand tail-gate boot was removed and a previously repaired wire was also found ( this is a previously owned car). Research at an online forum for Subaru owners showed that many other owners of 2005 and 2006 Subarus have experienced similar failures due to broken wires in this wiring harness. I suspect that it is an under-reported problem. I believe that Subaru should be asked to issue a safety recall notice. It was Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 when this wiring issue occurred.

car   Wiring problem of Subaru Forester

The car involved was a 2009 Subaru Forester. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is JF2SH63619_. While vehicle was parked outside, noticed side lights were on, car was not on. After entering the vehicle noticed a smell of burned plastic. Tried multiple ways to shut off the side lights, couldn't do it. Finally traced the smell of the burning plastic to the rear of the vehicle, by the lift gate, by the spare tire. The electrical cable that connects the vehicle to the trailer hitch wiring harness was burning and smoking. Disconnected it and the power failure stopped, by then the wiring harness had melted and wires burnt. Took photos of the wiring to show it, problem seems to be with the condensation in the area and moisture caused a short in the harness. Without intervening car could have caught fire and burnt down. The failure date was 02/05/2014.

car   Wiring problem of Volkswagen Tiguan

The car involved is a 2010 Volkswagen Tiguan. Crash was involved with the Volkswagen Tiguan. The VIN of the problem Tiguan is WVGBV7AXXA_. 2010 vw Tiguan, with repeated engine failures associated with power steering module, boost selenoid / engine coils, wiring harness, fuse re-call, loss of power / thrust / electrical panel instability, beginning in July 2013 upon the limited wolfsburg platform. Service was provided by a vw dealership, 16 days prior to the August 2013 accident. The car was not returned to me until October 1, 2013. (almost 8 weeks) a rental car was applied, but there was significant out of pocket expense for taxes / fee's for a 2 month rental. The vw upon return oct 1, 2013 then broke down again on oct 9th, for electrical failure again. The car was towed back to vw dealership for repair. I was given a complimentary loaner car. The vw was then returned and then ran without significant incident until March 16th, of which the engine failed for engine coils, and was towed back to the vw dealership for service, the car then experienced another electrical mechanical failure on 3/25, resulting in a 2nd front end collision. I received a not at fault decision on the first accident, per the commonwealth of MA. This wiring issue occurred Thursday, August 8, 2013.

car   Wiring problem of Volvo V50

The car was a 2009 Volvo V50. Failure to notify owners of a potentially deadly, known defective part that results in massive corrosion of electronics and cem causing engine to quit working. Electronics began to quit working while travelling. We took the car into a dealership service garage and turned the ignition off. They were unable to start the engine, and could not find the problem. They called Volvo who told them the V50 had a known defective water pump that caused other parts to corrode. Volvo secretly changed to a different water pump in new cars after discovering this defect : but did not notify owners or issue a recall. This pump leaks washer fluid, dripping onto the main wiring harness and cem mainframe computer which controls the engine, causing the inability to start or shut down the engine, security alarm to activate intermittently with no provocation, disabled key fob entry, and other intermittent issues related to electronics. These parts were completely corroded and fried. If this failed while driving and had stopped the engine, the same results would have occurred as the gm Chevrolet ignition problem. With no engine, the controls to power brakes, power steering and airbag deployment would be inactive. Volvo covered only the cost of the parts, but left us with a $3000 bill for the labor portion. They told us that because of the cars age and mileage and a "loyalty" factor, they would not cover the labor costs. They said they would only cover labor if there was a recall, which they haven't done. We own 2 Volvo's and our daughter purchased a Volvo on our recommendation just before this failure. We asked that they also pick the labor costs regardless and they refused. This could lead to a potential deadly result similar to the gm ignition problem & cover-up. It was Feb. 28, 2014 when this wiring issue occurred.

car   Wiring problem of Volvo XC90

The vehicle involved was a 2005 Volvo Xc90. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is YV1CZ59295_. This complaint relates to pe10025. I have to replace cem and casing for wiring cost 5500. 00. Volvo should be responsible for part or all of this repair. It is water seepage into the cem case. Water drips down through hood of the car and corrodes the wires. Causes major electrical shorts. I consider this to be a manufaturer defect. Way to many cars are experiencing this issue and it is extremely costly. I would sincerely wish you to consider making Volvo responsible. The failure date was Thursday, December 20, 2012.

Took to Audi dealer in which they said that there has been many problems within this system. But to totally fix the problem would run anywhere from 700. 00 to 1200 dollars on a 35. 00 to 45. 00 part. car   Wiring problem of BMW 530

The car is a 2007 BMW 530xi. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car was WBANN735X7_. I discovered failures of multiple wires in the tailgate/rear window wiring harnesses. Through research online I have found this is a common problem with this vehicle over several model years - search for BMW e61 tailgate wiring problems. The failures are caused by a poor design where the wires entering the hinge guides (4) for the glass and tailgate are repeatedly flexed at a sharp angle until the insulation, then the copper wire breaks. Safety issues - possible electrical short circuit leading to fires (highest load is for rear defroster); lighting failures (rear high brake light, license plate lamps and others); reduced visibility due to loss of wiper/washer/defroster; rear glass latch opening while underway, possibly resulting in loss of cargo or ingress of exhaust fumes. This is not an easily repaired problem. It would be beyond the capabilities of all but a skilled mechanic with proper tools. I discovered it when the remote lock/unlock using the key fobs failed. As I investigated I found the broken wire, along with several others with broken insulation, some with broken copper strands. It was Wednesday, May 15, 2013 when this wiring issue happened.

car   Wiring problem of Buick Lesabre

The vehicle involved was a 2004 Buick Lesabre. Vehicle identification number (VIN): 1G4HR54K24_. I first noticed the problem with the speedometer a couple of years ago, in 2009. The weather was cold, and I attributed it's disfunction to the cold. Then the other gauges started to show malfunction. When it got to the point that none of the gauges were correct, I went to two gm dealers and received no concern from either of them. They did not even acknowledge that they knew of a problem. I had to pay $400 to replace the dash cluster. About this time I received a letter from Chevrolet regarding the relay resistor or wiring connector on my silverado, saying they could overheat and the hvac blower might not function. I was given 10 years from date of purchase or 150,000 miles, whichever occurred first, to have this corrected if necessary. I called gm and asked why they would extend the warranty on the truck but would not even acknowledge the problem with the Buick. Again, no concern was shown. The person I spoke to was in the philippines! why would she care? we're askedto buy american, but we have to talk to someone in the philippines when there's a problem! also, I've had nothing but problems with the lights, all of them, inside and out. Couldn't tell you how many I've had to change! at the present time, we have no radio and heater lights. Goodbye gm, hello Honda!. The failure date was 01/16/2012.

car   Wiring problem of Cadillac DTS

The vehicle having this issue was a 2006 Cadillac Dts. While driving the vehicle down the road with the heated seat (drivers side) on, I began to notice a burning smell and smoke coming from the passenger seat area. Stopped the vehicle to inspect to find a smoldering wiring harness and module, there was a small flame. The flame was extinguished. The vehicle was then turned off and brought to a gm dealership that diagnosed it as having a bad connector. Dealership also stated that this is a common issue on these cars. In order to fix this and make it safe it required the module under the passenger seat and the connector to be replaced. Was informed that the new module is an improved design that shouldn't have the same issue. All service was performed and the vehicle and accessories is now functioning as they should.
