car   Starter Relay problem of Chevrolet Impala

The car was a 2009 Chevrolet Impala. 2009 Impala, owned since 2011. Started to give us issues a year after purchase where we would get no crank, no start. Replaced battery thinking it was the issue. It worked for a couple of days and started over again. No crank, no start. Replaced starter with autozone brand and it worked fine a few days. It started to happen again, no crank, no start. Replaced starter with oem from gm. It worked for a couple of days and the issue started to happen again. No crank, no start. Replaced starter relay, pulled bcm and cleaned all contacts. After cleaning bcm contacts it seemed to of worked but a few weeks later it gave us the same problem. Changed ignition switch and continued to have the same no crank, no start issues. We just continued to live with it. The car cranks after 5 or 6 turns of the key and became apart of our daily life. Now the big issue is the car turned off on us while driving a few days ago. Let it sit 30 mins. And tried to crank but we were getting no crank no start. It eventually cranked and started but I'm worried because I have my grand kids with me often and fear if im on the highway I can get into a serious collision. Airbag light has came on since then and can't afford to go to the dealership to get the vehicle diagnosed. I've called gm and since the vehicle is no longer under warranty I would be responsible for everything. Have also checked the cables to make sure they are tight and free of corrosion. No oil drips on the starter. We give the car scheduled oil changes and take care of it very well. This starter relay problem happened on May 20, 2014.

car   Starter Relay problem of Chevrolet Impala

The car was a 2006 Chevrolet Impala. Vehicle identification number (VIN): 2G1WB55K66_. My 2006 chevy Impala will not turn on. I replaced the battery and starter with the same results. Starter relay is also good. I have researched this problem on the web and to my horror, this is a common problem with this vehicle, with very high dollar possible solutions that may not work. Every time I bring in this vehicle I am charged 100 dollars for them to say what is wrong and when they (supposedly) fix it ( or say it did not do it with them and its all in my head and your doing something wrong to it), it does it again. The charging system is ok but there is no power at all thruout the car but if you wait a couple of hours it will show lights but it will not even crank and then go completely dead. This same problem has happened from every other customer who has had this problem and cost them plenty of money without a solution. I have researched youtube, yahoo answers, fixit, etc. . . And this is what all these other numerous customers are saying even when they went to the chevy certified mechanics throuout the country. I do not have the resources to keep paying for diagnosis and numerous possible fixes that does not remedy the problem. Bringing the vehicle to a chevy dealer for them to charge me an arm and a leg to not fix the problem ( and no they will not give you a refund for not fixing the problem that they charge a 100 dollars upfront to diagnose). This is not the only problem, the transmission slams into gear especially when you come from a start or after you back up and drive forward. This is not normal but chevy will say it us. I take pride in keeping my car running so I know it is not from neglect or abuse this is simply an ongoing problem that these chevy vehicles have because I m seeing this exact same problem on their other models throughout multiple year spectrum. This is ridiculous!!! all these consumers across the country are not wrong. This starter relay problem happened on December 17, 2009.

car   Starter Relay problem of Dodge Grand Caravan

The car involved was a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. Going high speed, engine suddenly stops, all lights on dash light up, power steering does not function. This happened (3) times last year. I was fortunate enough to be able to pull over on the PA turnpike but was in danger of being hit as I was traveling in the left lane. Car would not restart. Waited 20 minutes and car did initially restart. However, when it restarted, once driven, it would not shift gears--it was stuck in 1st. (automatic transmission) pulled over again. Waited 10 minutes, started driving, and car functioned but "check engine light" was on. Car was taken to dealer immediately. They initially blamed the fob, which I replaced. When this incident happened again a few months later, it was again taken to dealer and since they could not replicate the problem, they said they could not fix it. In July of this year, started this behavior again but now would not restart after the engine cut off. (again traveling high speed) then the engine cut off a day later while only going 40 miles an hour. Took car to the dealer again and they changed the win module. (but tell me that all three electrical system are registering errors) I paid to replace win module, had car for 1 week, went to start it and there was no response. Had car towed to dealership. Replaced starter relay. Picked car up on a Wednesday and on Thursday, engine shut down on me while doing 20 mph. Again, would not restart. Car currently at dealership but they claim they have no idea what's wrong. This is a hazard!! I feel I am going to die in this car because someone is going to run into me at high speed when I don't have a engine to get out of the way. My young kids are constantly in this car. Dealership throws up their hands and says "I don't know or care if you die in this vehicle we simply can't fix the problem" I am still paying this car off and can't afford another car!. It was Mon., Jun. 4, 2012 when this starter relay issue occurred.

The vehicle is a 1999 Mercury Cougar. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is 1ZWFT61L1X_. I have had numerous problems with my '99 Cougar such as, failure of my pat system and computer system. I have had problems with my brakes which they can't seem to figure out the problem. I have had my starter replaced twice. I have had defects in several sensors, which is not under warranty that I had to pay a good amount of money for them to repair. My fan has even blown out. There is a burning smell whenever I turn on my heater that none of the dealers can't seem to smell. I also had to purchase a new radiator. When my computer went out my car was still under warranty but they made me pay for the repairs, parts, and labor out of my pocket. This is not all. The list goes on and on. I have complained to the dealership, Ford motor CO. And even had someone from Ford to investigate all of the problems I've had with my vehicle. They have been rude to me on several occasions, especially when I had questions about the repairs of my vehicle. Something needs to be done about this. I would not recommend the purchase of a Mercury Cougar to anyone. This issue happened on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002.

car   Starter Relay problem of Mitsubishi Eclipse

The car involved was a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The VIN of this vehicle was 4A3AC84L0Y_. At approx. 55,000 miles, the starter relay burned out and vehicle could not be started. Symptoms were erratic indicator lights on dashboard and unpredictable behavior of all electrical devices. For example, the cd player spontaneously ejected the cd. Replacing the starter relay solved the problem. Given that this occurs without warning and with no clear indication of what's wrong, it can easily lead to stranded motorists when the fault is with a very inexpensive, inadequately designed electrical component. The failure date was Aug. 1, 2004.

car   Starter Relay problem of Mitsubishi Eclipse

The vehicle having this issue was a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is 4A3AK44Y3V_. (20+ occurrences) enormous amounts of "bluish" gas fumes coming from the tail pipe, regardless of idle or in motion. (always occurring) sunroof sticks (5-10 occurrences) both driver and passenger windows rattle when car is in motion and as the door is being shut (continuous occurrence) clutch failure, hard shifting (1 occurrence). It was Thu., Jan. 1, 2004 when this starter relay issue happened.

car   Starter Relay problem of Nissan Altima

The car involved was a 2005 Nissan Altima. Car will jerk and cut off suddenly without warning, when car is in motion and when sitting still idling. Makes driving very hazardous. Found out a recall on the crankshaft sensor so called local Nissan dealer and took in for the repair. Found out Nissan only allows dealer to reprogram the sensor under the recall. This, according to the dealer, probably will not fix the problem, after 3 days of driving with no event, it started again. I found out this is a major recall involving thousands of Altima's. Also, since the 2005 model, the Nissan corp. Has redesigned this sensor because of all the past problems . The local dealer that reprogrammed the sensor said we will have to pay $194. 00 to replace it. When Nissan redesigned this sensor due to problems in the past, they should stand by the owners of the still defective parts that reprogramming does not fix, and replace the sensor as part of the recall. This is absurd to pay for a replacement part involved in a recall. The reprogramming did not fix the sensor, the dealer said numerous times it has not. (with other owners) this problem with the car suddenly failing almost caused serious injury to me . It has cut off suddenly numerous times on the expressway and I had to navigate/coast to right side,, pull of the road and restart . Also, when sitting at a stop light, stop sign, it cut off suddenly, when taking foot off brake and trying to accelerate, causing the car to slowly roll out in oncoming traffic, not realizing engine had failed. This puts anyone in your car in serious danger. I fear it is going to cause an accident, I never know when the engine is to fail. . If going at a higher rate of speed it will sometimes jerk,, then cut off, or fail with no warning. When idling it consistently fails. No jerking. Because the sensor is linked to the computer system, check engine light stays on all the time . This issue happened on Wed., Nov. 21, 2007.

car   Starter Relay problem of Nissan Altima

The car was a 2002 Nissan Altima. The first thing was the oxygen sensor. Then the oxygen sensor again. The dealership fixed the problem. Mext there was, and still is, the jerking transmission. When driving in rush hour traffic or driving on the open highway, the trans shifts hard comming out of first into second. I have taken this car into several Nissan dealerships and to this day, no one has found the problem. They keep telling me that this is normal. I have driven other Altimas including several rentals while mine wasin the shop and they didn't shift like mine. The next problem is those headlights. They have replaced one of my light asemblies an great river Nissan but the other has not been replaced. Next, there was the heater coil that leaked and it took almost 6 months to determine because it didn't leak inside the car. Next there was the ignition coils that were replaced 2x within a week and still caused the check engine light to come on. After the ignition problem the mechanics at sterling mccall Nissan told my that it was my sparkplugs that had hust been checked about 2 weeks prior at great river Nissan in mississippi. I went back to the dealership and invited the service man to a nice long ride. After driving about 20 miles, I stopped the car and le it sit for about 5 minutes. The car started and he smiled. He said, "see there is nonthing wrong. " after explaining that he needed to let the car set for a while and then try to start it, he said that it is still going to start. After sitting for about 2 hours, I asked the service man to step outside and lets giv the car a start. . . To no suprise, when I turned the key the car puttered, spitted, jerked, and everything else but started. It was determined the next morning that there was a blown head gasket that could have been caused by the catalyst that was just replaced due to a recall. It was Mon., Oct. 11, 2004 when this starter relay issue happened.

The vehicle identification number (VIN) is YV4CZ852X6_. I bought a 2006 Volvo Xc90 ocean race (limited edition) SUV on 3/21/06. The morning of 3/25/06, my car would not start. Volvo roadside assistance jump started the vehicle, which I then drove back to the dealership. The battery tested fine, and the vehicle was returned to me. On 4/27/06, again the car would not start. Vehicle was returned to me on 4/29, no-charge invoice says "replace engine management and starter relays. Rechecked numerous times, o. K. " car again failed to start 5/3/06. It is now 5/9 and 'special' Volvo field tech seem clueless as to the problem. They claim to have checked "everything thoroughly", and now say they want to put 20 -40 miles on my new vehicle, attempting to "recreate the dead battery scenario". Sounds mighty desperate and illogical, considering the car intermittently and unpredictably failed to start only after 10-24 hours of being parked. I feel that all that $ I spent has provided me with little more than various loaner cars, trips to and from the dealership, major inconveniences, headaches, and a growing uneasiness with Volvo's reliability and service techs. It was Saturday, March 25, 2006 when this starter relay issue occurred.
