The car involved is a 2003 Honda Cr-v. The vehicle had a crash. Whilst driving on the highway, out of nowhere the hood flipped up over the windshield and blocked all view. I almost got into a huge accident and was lucky enough to be in the left lane. The hood is unfixable, the roof is damaged where the hood impacted and the electric on the inside section of the roof no longer work. The hood had not been opened for a while and was closed correctly. I have searched online and this has happened to many other drivers of the same model. I almost lost my life and it ended up costing me $2000 in repairs. Why has there not been a recall when Honda have fixed the problem in newer models? thank you. The car was a 2003 Infiniti M45. Purchased new inf. M45 when car reached about 24000 miles. I took it in to be serviced. Infiniti service was unable to reproduce problem. Would call on several occasions informing dealership that their product was defective. I finally got tons of problems (perforated leather seats had mesh coming, cd changer jammed, ac compressor busted, belts on the motor had to be replaced, glove box had to be readjusted, hood had to be readjusted to stop the squeeking when closing the doors, front window guides and stabilizer-inner door had to be replaced to stop all the squealing when letting the windows up/down) and schedule another visit to see if the engine/exhaust problem could be repaired. The dealership had my car for 3 weeks. . . And cleaned out the combustion chamber at their cost and the day I got it back, it was still smoking out the pipes. The dealership says they know nothing else to do but to replace the motor if it's consuming oil. I found these other complaints which already state that Infiniti knows about this oil consumption problem and appears to be giving me the run around. If the motor is replaced with another Nissan v8, the same problem is likely to reoccur. Their product is defective. This hood problem happened on Nov. 3, 2003.

The car involved was a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I was on my way to work driving about 70mph on the freeway. After a couple of minutes my hood opened up on its own and slammed against my windshield which caused my windshield to shatter. I was nearly in multiple wrecks while on the freeway because 90 to 95% of my windshield was covered by the hood of my car. This was by far the scariest thing that I have ever faced. I nearly lost my life on the freeway. I am not able to drive my Jeep at the moment and honestly prefer not to drive it anymore. I strongly feel like something should be done about this. No one should ever have to go through this. This issue happened on 05/09/12.

The car is a 1998 Mercury Tracer. Many times car in shop for squealing steering wheel noise when turning a far right, rattling noise, grinding noise from engine, rallting noise from driver's side door jam, gas-pil/exhaust smell coming thru when ac/defrost on, brakes squealing even after new brake pads, many times I was told that something maybe coming loose that I would have to wait until it breaks before they can fix it. Just recently as of 2-6-01 Ford factory guy told me I was imagining things. He along with the service manager told me that there isn't a problem, and will have to wait until it breaks before they can fix. Warranty expires April 6, 2001. I can't afford to wait until something breaks, this is my only means of transportation. Sometimes the rattling noise isn't constant, or very loud, but sometimes it is. I don't know what they are doing that they can't hear it. Maybe being around engines all the time it has affected their hearing. I do know that I am not imagining things. Just yesterday the steering wheel locked while in park, it took me several minutes trying to move to the steering wheel so that I could turn the key in the ignition. This isn't constant but occasionally, it does happen however. During our summer, with triple digit heat and heat index, key in ignition got so hot that I burnt my hand, there was also a burning rubber smell. No dealer/repair shops were open on a Saturday, the one place I attempted to take the car too (Ford's quality control shop) told me that since its under warranty, & the dealership has been working on it to take it back there. Which I did a couple of days later, of course the temperature outside was alot cooler, so they told me they couldn't duplicate the problem. Just recently I noticed differences in the transmission. Car not always moving when press on gas pedal, sometimes a jerking motion when shift from park into reverse. A cracking sound front driverside tire, I made a hard left turn to get out of parking spot. Ford dispute board contacted. It was Monday, May 22, 2000 when this hood issue happened.

The car involved is a 2001 SAAB 9-5. My car has only 50,000 miles. No warning, no escalation, just sudden. Sid l. C. D. Display is missing dots and lines causing unreadable display. Checked several "SAAB" discussion forums and apperantly this is a very common problem which damages the value of a $40,000+ car. I am afraid to find out how much this is going to cost to repair after seeing how many 9-5 owners have posted "home remedy" repair methods for this. Upper radiator hose- third one in fifty thousand miles from myself and the previous owner whom I knew. They all burst in the same place. Pressure relief cap tested ok. There is no aftermarket manufacturer of this hose that I know of to fall back on for a possibly more reliable product. And also, I again after searching through discussion forums discovered I am not the only one with this problem. Hood badge. Enamel cracked and flacked off of the hood badge on this garage kept car. Luckily I hear (because I'm not the only one) that these are cheap. My car has lost value to no fault of mine and I am going to have to have these things repaired (although they should not need to be) to regain that lost value. This hood issue occurred May. 28, 2005.

Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is YS3DF78K32_. 2002 SAAB 9-3 convertible, about 13,000 miles caught on fire. Drove to office, turned off engine, & parked car. Got out of car & noted unusual smell despite that guages indicated "checking ok"ay. Went into my office & called zee SAAB of milford where new car was originally leased from & where all services had been performed. No problems had ever been noted with the car. Told to call SAAB roadside assistance, which I did. Went back outside to where car was parked to wait for roadside and noticed smoke coming from the hood area. Then saw fire & flames coming from the top of the hood and underneath the front of the car. Immediately called witon CT fire department and within 15 minutes fire was extinguished. In that very short amount of time, the entire front of the car was significantly damaged from the fire. A newspaper reporter was with the fire dept. & took about 30 photos of the fire & the resulting damage. SAAB roadside arrived & I requested that the car be taken to SAAB of milford. I notified allstate, my insurer. Allstate claims rep & engineeer examined the car (although requested,to date, I have not received a copy of the allstate engineer's repiort). Allstate engineer informed SAAB of milford that the fire was from "undetermined causes" & car was "totalled". Dealer informed me that despite the fact that car had only about 13,000 miles, the dealer performed all services & there were no warning lights or indicators of a problem, the damages were not covered by SAAB dealer or manufacturer warranty. Clearly, fires don't just start and there was some type of failure(s) with the car. This hood problem happened on 02/02/04.
