Door problem is a common vehicle problem that happens to most car brands and models. The following is a sample list of Door problems reported in most popular vehicles.
The vehicle involved was a 2006 Chevrolet Hhr. Fuel leak in front of drivers side rear wheel. This is completely unacceptable in an 8 year old vehicle. The fuel line corroded and leaked heavily, cost me $254. 22 to replace this faulty gas line. I am obviously not the only person this has happened to. I have also had all the other typical problems such as the key will not release from ignition, bad rotors, loose front end bushings and excessive front end vibration over typical street cracks. Broken drivers side interior door handle, cracked windshield. . . . . . It was Thursday, February 6, 2014 when this door issue occurred.

2012 Chrysler Town & Country (rental). Consumer writes in regards to rental vehicle sliding door & passenger seats malfunction. The consumer stated the sliding doors just behind the front doors were electronically operated. There were 2 occasions where the consumer's husband and a teen-aged driver inadvertently had their hand on the car frame, and when the button was pushed to close the door, it did not stop, when it hit their hands. It kept moving and mashed their hands between the moving door and door frame. The injuries were not severe. However, a safety switch is needed to stop the door. A much bigger problem, however, was found in the second row of the seat, just behind the front seat. The consumer stated she and her husband were sitting in the seats, and decided to take a nap. When she went to re-position the seat, to its upright position, she turned sideways to pull the lever on the side, but when she pulled it, the entire back rest assembly slammed her forward with considerable impact. At the same time, the head rest atop the back rest slammed forward with much more impact and it hit her in the back of the head. It was Tuesday, April 1, 2014 when this door issue occurred.

The car involved is a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 2D4GP44L66_. My sliding door quit working half way thru cycle. My power went dead in doors and locks I took it to the Dodge dealer they could not find the problem said it was either the ecm or the bcm but not sure. They did not want to replace as they would just burn out again if this was the problem and still a short somewhere it was safe to drive. I drove it home and next day went to start it and the main wiring harness under the battery and above the drivers side wheel well burst into flames burning the entire main electrical harness and ecm and fuse box up. Took it by tow truck to Dodge dealer again they said looks like wiring harness was worn through where it was fastened to the frame at the assembly plant. Called Dodge and they said this has happened before suppose to send an inspector and no one showed up it has been over a week and no help from Dodge or the dealer who told me it was safe to drive. I received a letter from Chrysler stating it was not a manufacturer defect yeah right!!. It was Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 when this door issue happened.

The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is 3FAHP0JG9A_. I was a passenger in a 2010 Ford Fusion and was in the front passenger seat and another person was in the right rear passenger seat. I was exiting the car and because the door had opened to far, I used my hands to pull myself out of the car. At the same time, the passenger in the right rear seat was in the process of opening their door and exiting. Due to the close proximity of their door edge (approximately 1/16 inch) and the car itself, a finger tip on my right hand was completely amputated when the door was opened. I was taken by ambulance to hospital where surgery was performed. It was Saturday, August 3, 2013 when this door issue occurred.

The vehicle was a 2007 GMC Yukon denali xl. Both rear door handles of my Yukon denali are loose from the door. It is just a matter of time before they fall off and my kids are stuck in the back. I called the dealership and he said that this is a common issue and he has fixed this problem before. However since it is not a safety issue there is not a bulletin. I think having easy and safe access to our kids is pretty important, but since the door were so poorly made and engineered that is not the true issue. I have gone online to see if there was a recall on this issue and to my surprise there is a you tube video on how to fix this common issue and there are blogs and bulletins that this is common. If this is truly common and defective, how come gm is not mandated to address and fix this matter? this is unfair that I need to take money out from my pocket to fix something that was designed poorly. I have had plenty of vehicles and this has never happened to me before and let me remind you this is now my 2nd door in a matter of weeks! please help!. The failure date was Wed., Oct. 30, 2013.

The exact same thing has happened on my 2008 GMC denali Sierra (driver side) - I've sliced my finger a 3rd time and am now having the handle replaced at a cost of $240. When I called GMC customer complaint line they offered no help just excuses. . . Poor customer service. . . Wow, no wonder gm went bankrupt!!. This problem occurred on Dec. 3, 2012.

The vehicle is a 2007 Honda Cr-v. The VIN of the problem Cr-v is JHLRE48737_. On 08/09/2013 I parked my Honda crv in my driveway and locked my car with my keyless remote. One hour later our family decided to go out to dinner. We went out to our car and it wouldn't open. Tired the key in the door and tried the keyless remote also tried the spare keyless remote, would not open. At 9:30 p. M. We call aaa to open the car, at 10 p. M. Aaa showed up and opened the front passenger door. He got the door open, we decided to take the car to the Honda dealer in the morning. During the night, the doors automatically locked. I needed to go to work, had to get a ride with someone else. My husband waited 3 hours for a tow-truck to show up to take it to a Honda dealership. We were very surprised to find out this was not covered by a recall, this is a safety issue. Where we live the temperature during the day in August runs from 95 degrees to 110 degrees, if this happened during the day and children were in the car, this could cause death. It was 08/09/13 when this door issue occurred.

In the 2. 5 years I've owned my 2011 Hyundai Veracruz, 4 door handles have broken from the inside. The first happened within a year of owning the car and was the driver's side door. The handle became embedded into the door and could not be pulled. The door could only be opened from the outside (or by rolling down the window and reaching my arm outside through window and pulling on the handle from the outside). This presents a serious safety risk in that the driver is unable to get out of the vehicle quickly in an emergency. The dealership replaced the handle and said they had never seen it happen before. Since then it has happened 3 more times (passenger door, rear door on passenger side, and again on driver's side). I have no children and am usually the only one driving the vehicle, so it doesn't receive much wear and tear. When the rear door handle broke, the door was unable to be opened from the inside or the outside. Can you imagine having a child in the car and being unable to get to them? this time when the driver's side door broke again, it also quit responding to lock/unlock button pushes, making the situation even more unsafe. The Hyundai dealership has said that it is a poorly designed part and that it will continue to happen but that there is not a new part and that, once my warranty expires, I will have to pay for all of these repairs myself. They also had no comment about my safety concerns with the vehicle. Having the driver or passengers be unable to exit the car quickly is a very serious safety concern and this needs to be addressed. My email to Hyundai USA has gone unanswered. It was 02/01/2012 when this door issue happened.

The car was a 1997 Infiniti J30. The rear passenger door stopped working , a month later the rear drivers door stopped working, 2 weeks later the drivers door stopped working on my 1997 Infiniti J30 (which I purchased new, only 107,000 miles on it). Now the only door that works is the front passenger door. There are no blown fuses. It seems there is a problem with the actuator that electronically opens and closes the mechanism. If the other door fails , I will not be able to enter or exit the vehicle. If this should happen while I am driving the vehicle, it could be life threatening. It was Friday, Mar. 12, 2010 when this door issue happened.

The car is a 2009 Kia Motor Spectra. My daughter owns a 2009 kia Spectra a friend getting in the rear seat tried to open the door and the outside handle broke-off. About 6 months later the front inside driver-side door handle stop working. About 1 year later on Jan-31-2014 the front out-side drivers-side handle broke-off. Now no way to with no way to open the drivers door, this is very dangerous. With three handles broken there must be a recall on these handle. If there is not a recall, there should be one. Other problems with this, cam-shaft sensor had to be replaced, also the air-bag light is on. This car is junk, kia should be ashamed of building it and selling it for $16,000 to $17,000. It appeared as though the latch was stuck in a position that wouldn't catch. Finally, after lifting the door handle and pushing the door shut, it stayed closed. When I came out of the store, I found that the driver side door would not open. I tried using the key and the automatic lock features, but neither allowed for the door to open. The car was a 2004 Lincoln Town Car. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1LNHM83W04_. The interior door lock within the panel broke off on the drivers side & the clips broke off on the passengers side. Per Lincoln we will need to replace the whole panel. They no longer make the panel nor can we find it at anywhere else. Lincoln offered two sites to try and locate however they do not have this part either. The car hasn't even hit 10 years for us and Lincoln offers no solution. The car runs ok but it's a bit embarrassing that we cannot open the door without the panel falling down. I believe this is a bad business transaction from the manufacturer and had we known we would get this type of service we wouldn't of bought this make of car. The car involved was a 2004 Mazda Mazda6. On August 15, 2012 I stopped off at a gas station went to open driver side door and the door would not open from inside or outside handle. I then had to escape by climbing over the console to exit the passenger side door, good thing I'm a small girl and not a big guy trying to climb out. I have been without a door handle on my car for approximately 6 months, having to climb thru the window or passenger door. I finally take to mechanic to purchase a new handle at $100 and then charged another $150 for the labor to find out that this is a common problem with Mazda and the real issue are the door latches. I now have to purchase a new door latch assembly at another $205 and another $100 in labor. This entire time I have been driving in an unsafe vehicle that if I would have been in an accident I would have sued Mazda for. These are faulty latches they assembled on the driver side doors unsafely locking us inside the vehicle. Mazda needs to address this issue, correct this issue, and reimburse the owners that are paying for this faulty part. This has cost me out of pocket of $550. Uncalled for!!!. This door problem happened on 08/15/2012.

The vehicle involved was a 1998 Mercedes Benz Slk230. The VIN of this vehicle was WDBKK47F3W_. The car had a bad left door panel that was fixed under warranty last year. This summer I noticed that it was loose at the top so I had my wife take it in to be fixed. They fixed the panel and my drove home. When my wife got home she was locked in the car and the left door would only open if she put the window down and used the outside door handle. Se went inside and called the dealer, shaffer imports. They had her bring it back so they could correct the problem. She left the car and when she returned it had not been fixed. They said that the door latch must have failed on the way home and that we would have to pay to fix it. They also said that they have seen this problem on other mercedes models that use the same door latch. I believe that this is a safety problem and should be fixed and a recall issued. Being that this is a two door car with a console and a shifter, it is quite difficult for one to exit the left seat to the right door. This could cause lost time in an emergency and ultimately loss of life. Pleas give this problem your immediate attention. It was Sunday, September 1, 2002 when this door issue happened.

The car was a 2009 Mercury Milan. Interior door handle will not open vehicle on driver's side door making it impossible to exit vehicle without crawling over console and exiting from passenger seat or opening window to access exterior door handle. This is a safety issue. As the same thing happened to my husband's Ford fusion 2010 hybrid (which cost over $200 to repair at the dealership), I believe there is an issue with the manufacture/design/integrity of parts in these vehicles. In addition, there are numerous complaints on the internet Ford/Mercury forums citing the same problem. It was Thursday, January 9, 2014 when this door issue happened.

The car is a 2006 Mercury Milan. The plastic interior door handles broke without even touching them. Both front handles broke within a week of each other. I didn't know the front passenger side was broken until my wife asked me to get out of the car to let her out on her side. And then approximately a week later the driver's side interior handle broke also. Now neither door can be opened from the inside. The window needs to be rolled down and the outside handle needs to be used. When we bought the car (used) the rear driver's side interior handle plastic was broken and we knew this. Even broken you can still use it to open the rear door. I was in the drivers seat when the driver's interior handle broke. I was parked, and I heard a click before I tried opening my door from the inside and the door would not open. There is definitely a big problem with these cheap plastic door handles that Ford motor company needs to address. Three out of four interior handles are broken. The car was a 2010 Volkswagen Routan. Vehicle identification number (VIN): 3VWEF71K57_. While my 3 year old was entering the vehicle through the side sliding door, she pressed the button to close the door. While the door was closing, she slipped getting her ankle/foot trapped between the door jam and door but over the bracket attaching the front of the door. The door continued to close until it jammed, she fell outside the vehicle while still being trapped. We had to push on the door to try to slowly open it to attempt to free her. After picking her up and reaching under the door to move her foot we were able to free her. The entire time we were trying to free my daughter the door kept making a clicking noise. The vehicle involved is a 2009 Audi A4. After having my car for a year, it started to burn through oil at an increasing rate. Currently it is going through about 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles. I have taken the car in a few times to check for leaks or try to determine the location where it is going and have just been told that this model engine goes through at a faster pace and has been a common complaint amongst customers. In addition to this I have dealt with having to get the sunroof re-lubricated every few months, dealing with rattles in the doors, warping of the interior (dash, door panels, seat backs), and a one-time failure with the door latch not working during cold temperatures. This door problem happened on March 15, 2011.

The VIN of the problem A6 is WAUWG94F89_. Purchased a 2009 Audi A6 as my primary commuter and family vehicle. As I was attempting to put some items in the passenger front seat, the door unexpectedly close on my arm and scraped off about 2. 5 inches of my skin around my right elbow. What worried me most was that I was holding my daughter, fortunately on my left side, and my daughter was not hurt. I also have a son which is currently I level with the door trim and am constantly worried every time I open and close the door. Something I should not have to do. I have contacted both the dealer and Audi corporate and apparently, this is not a big enough issue for them at the moment. According to Audi, that is the design of the vehicle and many of their vehicles have similar trims. All I requested was for them to somehow install some extra padding on the trim to give me piece of mind and was basically told to live with it. My main concern is the safety of my children. Purchasing this car as my family car, I should not have to worry about them getting hurt each time the door opens and closes and I wanted to share this incident to other Audi drivers out there. Please check both your front doors chrome trims and you will find that the edges are exposed and sharp. This issue happened on Saturday, June 19, 2010.
