car   Roof And Pillar problem of Chrysler Sebring

The VIN of the problem Sebring is 1C3LC65M88_. The vehicle involved is a 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible hardtop. The contact stated that the folding hardtop would leak abnormally and was out of alignment due to its constant movement to and from the trunk compartment. The vehicle was taken to the dealer nineteen times and they could not repair the leakage issue. The dealer attempted to duplicate the failure but to no avail. The manufacturer would not offer any assistance. The failure mileage was 8,400. The consumer stated the retractable hard top would not come up after being lowered. After waiting overnight it operated in a normal fashion. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the consumer was informed the problem was a voltage shortage and not an electrical problem. The dealer made the necessary repairs and informed the consumer the problem should be resolved. For two weeks, the top had not been lowered due to rainy weather. The first time the top was lowered, it became stuck in the half way down position. At which time the back half of the vehicle fell towards the ground, bending parts and forcing the mechanism and trunk to be severely out of alignment. According to another dealer, it was more likely caused by the other dealership adjusting the trunk too far away from the latch, which would not allow it to stay locked into place with the added pressure from the top going down. The dealer finally admitted they were unable to fix the problem. The consumer was informed a technical service bulletin had been issued for the mechanism problems. Chrysler agreed to take the vehicle back and replace it with a 2010 model. The consumer stated the 2010 model also leaked. The consumer believed the rubber pieces designed to block leaks from the quarter glass areas did not land in the same spot each time, which explained why the problem was intermittent. Updated evoq 12/29/10. It was 06/01/2008 when this roof and pillar issue occurred.

car   Roof And Pillar problem of Ford Windstar

The car was a 1999 Ford Windstar. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car was 2FMZA5141X_. The paint is peeling off the roof of the van. We feel on a vehicle that is only three years old this kind of thing should not haappen, the primer is showing through. In October I took the van too get it looked at and at that time the gentleman I talked to said the Ford rep. Had to see it to give us an estamate. When the rep. Came too town he would not even look at the roof. All we were hoping for was some help repairing the damage. My husband also talked to the person who left the message and all we are being told is that the warrenty is up. I was wandering how many other people have this same problem, and have not discovered it yet, the only way we saw the paint problem was we looked out of my inlaws window and saw that the paint was peelling off. That was in october2002 and Ford never let us know until Jan. 2003 that it was out of warrenty and the rep. Wasin town that day and never lookedat the problem. This problem occurred on Oct. 10, 2002.

car   Roof And Pillar problem of GMC Acadia

The vehicle was a 2007 GMC Acadia. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is 1GKEV33787_. The car has had electrical and engine problems since we purchased it due to water leaks from a flawed sunroof design. Even after a recall to fix the sunroof to prevent water leaks; it continues to leak and damage electrical and engine systems. This is an ongoing problem and is a widespread concern for the 2007-2008 GMC Acadias. I would like someone to investigate this problem. I believe it is a safety concern because the leaks occur in the area where there are airbags. I think there is a structural defect that may not be able to be repaired and it presents a safety hazard for all who drive these vehicles. Please investigate this problem. Do not let GMC sweep this under the rug!. It was 07/08/2008 when this roof and pillar issue occurred.

car   Roof And Pillar problem of Acura TL

The vehicle involved is a 2005 Acura Tl. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is 19UUA66265_. Hit a curb going 20-30 mph (not full-on, though). Blew tire and cause slight alignment issue, as expected. However, next day noticed three large dents next to my sunroof. Took it to dealer and discovered the roof flexed when I hit the curb and the entire roof panel has to be replaced. For hitting a curb? what would have happened to me if I had actually hit something more substantial? no way should a consumer incur a $5000+ repair bill for clipping a curb or hitting a pothole. Found other Acura owners complaining on blogs about the same thing. Costly for a minor accident. It was Jul. 13, 2007 when this roof and pillar issue happened.

car   Roof And Pillar problem of Honda S2000

Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is JHMAP21466_. Consumer owns a 2006 Honda S2000. The contact stated that the metal link on the convertible top was placed directly over his skull. In the event of a crash, his head would strike the metal link and cause injuries. The manufacturer advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer to check if the issue was due to a manufacturer defect. The contact feels that this is a safety hazard and wants the manufacturer to provide a hard top. The current and failure mileages were 16,000. The convertible top has a protruding metal joint and other unshielded metal pieces. Updated 07/21/09. The failure date was 07/12/2009.

car   Roof And Pillar problem of Honda S2000

The vehicle was a 2000 Honda S2000. The plastic rear window on the convertible top wrinkles and creases when the top is lowered. This causes a safety hazard in that car headlights are distorted during nighttime driving. The distortion causes the headligths to show an unknown number of vehicles in back of you. It could be only one, but appears to be many due to the distortion through the wrinkles in the plastic rear view window. I was almost hit because it appeared that one car was behind me, when in fact there were many-ans as I pulled out, I was almost sideswiped. There was no way to ascertain the number of cars behind me due to the distortion. During daylight, it is a distraction because everything is distorted. The customer service lady (joyce farr) from Honda told me to put 170 degree f water on the plastic window to get the wrinkles/creases out. (?!) I do not usually carry hot water around with me. Another "fix" is to buy a "tube" and roll the window halfway down, then get out of the car, place the tube on the window, get back in the car, and finish lowering the top. Reverse this procedure to put the top up. First of all, there's no place to carry a tube in this 2-seater sport car, and second, if you put the top up and forget to remove the tube (like when it's raining and you pull over on the side of the road to put the top up), the tube will get thrown in the road to create a traffic hazard. I believe that this is a saftey hazard, and am reporting it as such. It was Wednesday, April 12, 2000 when this roof and pillar issue occurred.

car   Roof And Pillar problem of Hyundai Veloster

The vehicle involved was a 2012 Hyundai Veloster. I was driving, making a left hand turn from a stop light and then heard a very loud bang! the sunroof above me then shattered and fell all over me, the car, and outside. I pulled over to inspect the cause and see the damage. There wasn't a sign of why it happened (rock or anything of the sort), but I had shards of glass in the top of my head, back down the inside of my shirt, and the glass still hanging was flying off. Thankfully I had sunglasses on, or else something would have flown into my eyes. Actually have a scratch from the incident on my new prescription sunglasses now. I researched a possible issue or recall and came across a few postings with the exact same issue! I heard good and bad stories on how it was resolved, but its scary nonetheless. This happened today and am second guessing a sunroof, although I've always wanted one. If this is starting to become a known issue with a new model, I hope its treated with caution and swiftness. Please call or email me if you have any questions. Updated 08/15/lj. It was Aug. 3, 2012 when this roof and pillar issue happened.

car   Roof And Pillar problem of Hyundai Elantra

The vehicle involved is a 2006 Hyundai Elantra. Driving on 495 washington beltway, heard a loud noise, I thought something had hit the car I look all around and saw the sunroof had exploded. There was no sign that something had hit the sunroof. It looked like it was pushed up from the inside. I took it to the dealer and they said this had never happen before and the Hyundai rep said it couldn't happen by itself and refuse to cover the damage under warranty. The cost was almost $1000. This roof and pillar problem happened on Nov. 1, 2007.

car   Roof And Pillar problem of Jeep Liberty

VIN of the vehicle was 1J8GP28K18_. The sky slider roof on my Jeep Liberty stopped closing properly several weeks ago. At first it was just leaking and small parts of the roof wouldn't close. Eventually it progressed to the entire sky slider and now will not close completely at both ends. I have seen several other complaints about this same problem on the internet and I believe that this is a faulty product made by Jeep and should be recalled immediately!. It was Wednesday, April 11, 2012 when this roof and pillar issue happened.

car   Roof And Pillar problem of Jeep Wrangler

The roof on my brand 2008 Jeep Wrangler sahara limited is leaking badly on the inside of the vehicle. The water leaking inside from the hardtop in front is causing the electrical system to short out. It has already leaked down into the radio and has caused a short in the radio system. Everyday since purchase when it rains , snows or when I wash the vehicle the roof leaks into the inside and leaks down into the front dash and also down onto the gear selector. There is always large puddles of water on the dashboard. What is to happen if the water leak short out the electrical system further in the vehicle and causes the vehicle to catch fire or short the electrical system out while vehicle is in operation. This roof and pillar problem happened on 11/26/07.

car   Roof And Pillar problem of Land Rover Freelander

The vehicle was a 2002 Land Rover Freelander. Heater doesn't provide powerful heat and right foot gets so hot and left foot freezes while driving. Car shakes and rumbles often, sounding like there is no oil. Had severe water leak from missing seals around rear cargo door. Seals, headliner and rug had to be replaced. Gas cap can only be removed with key in it. If key is removed while gas cap is off, makes for extremely difficult time to replace (about 5-10 minutes to work the key back in). Dashboard lights come on frequently to warn of a failure when there is no such failure. Engine doesn't start on first try a lot of times. Once driving for a while then parking for, car sometimes doesn't start on first try. Shifting is difficult, rpms rev pretty high. Car has lurched forward when speed decreases (I. E. Going down hill). It was Sunday, May. 18, 2003 when this roof and pillar issue happened.

car   Roof And Pillar problem of Land Rover Freelander

The vehicle involved is a 2002 Land Rover Freelander. Have had multiple problems with vehicle with replacements needed for the following items: sunroof assembly, brakes and rotors twice, coolant tank, coolant tank lid, intake manifold assembly, wiper switch, 2 vacuum hoses, window regulator, sunroof drain tubes and headliner. Now, despite maintaining the recommended service schedule, we are going to have to have the engine replaced at 67k miles. The coolant is leaking into the oil and after having the head gaskets replaced and a cooler part replaced, the dealer now believes that there is a crack in the sleeve. There apparently is a back order on replacement engines so I will have to cough up $$$ to keep the oil drained and coolant filled until one is available. Why should a $35,000 vehicle need an engine replaced at 67k miles?. This roof and pillar issue occurred Jan. 18, 2008.

The vehicle is a 2003 Lexus is 300. High wind noise and flapping noise from the driver door; it's very annoying and unconvertible driving on the highway because of the noises produced by this problem. Lexus claims their cars as luxury cars, but also claims that a wind noise and a flapping noise are normal for $34k luxury cars. I took the car in and they even did not want to try to fix the problem. car   Roof And Pillar problem of Mazda Protege 5

The vehicle having this issue was a 2002 Mazda Protege 5. On January 22, 2008 I brought a Mazda pretege5 year 2002 58,000 miles $ 12,000. 00 from city world 3305 boston road bronx, new york 10469 (718) 655-7000. The sale managers told me this car is excellent for me. ?nice, good and everything so I settle for the Mazda pretege5. ? however, since I brought the car I find myself going to the used automobile dealer every other day because there a problem with the car. During the week I got to sexually harassed, by sales individual, they were touching me. First, sun roof all of a sudden stops working. Brought it to Toyota service in the bronx. They told me two days later they don't have the budgetary parts. I miss my class that weekend because I didn't have a car to get to class. Secondly, the car was getting over heating all of a sudden. I don't know why, I don't even drive much school and work is 10 minutes away from each other. I brought the car because I have a class at dobbs ferry. Thirdly, today February 05, 2008 the car couldn't start next to my job in nereid avenue, so I called them, they told me to call the towing guy I call them. The towing guy told me my tire is flat. My point is I only brought the car for two weeks now. I only drive for two days only in general. Most of the time they have the car in their possession. I am paying insurance for the car, when I don't even drive it. Why that have to happen to me. I m a student trying to get by in school. I am a single woman all alone trying to survive. I don't have anyone to call to generously help me. Can someone please help me? now the car dealer place refuses to do anything. I told them. I cannot drive the car anymore. They refuse to talk to me. They give me a run around. Please, I can't take this anymore I work at night trying to make a decent living. I presently work with the mentally retarded children, and I do not have to come to the car dealer place every other day, because their something wrong with the car, it just not fair. car   Roof And Pillar problem of Mazda Miata

The vehicle having this issue was a 2002 Mazda Miata. VIN of the vehicle was JM1NB35302_. Convertible top latches do not stay latched. Mazda is aware of the problem and has issued a TSB (09-009/03) telling the tech to replace the latches and strikers with a revised design. Mazda refuses to replace the units free of charge even though it is obviously a manufacturing defect. Tops flying open on the highway are a major safety issue and should not be fixed at the customers expense, especially on a car with only 28000 miles. The car has always been dealer maintained and is actually in better condition than when I bought it off the showroom. Mazda refuses to replace it under the original warranty, or even the extended factory warranty. This issue happened on 02/01/2008.

car   Roof And Pillar problem of Mercury Mountaineer

The car involved is a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer. The paint on the roof of my 2005 Mountaineer is cracking and flaking off in chunks. When I noticed, it was 3 weeks out of warranty. Ford admitted it was defective paint, but will only repaint the roof. This would be fine, but the cost will be $980 and they want me to pay $200 of it. While this may not seem like a bad deal, the point is that the vehicle was barely out of warranty, I paid for an extended warranty (does not cover paint), the paint was defective on Ford's part, and this problem did not just happen within the three weeks after the warranty expired. It was a pre-existing problem, but since I'm short, I did not notice the roof of my vehicle. What happens when the rest of the paint flakes off? Ford said it would handle that if it happens. So, I guess I just keep paying for a defective paint job out of my own pocket because Ford will not correct its mistakes. Keep in mind, this vehicle is only 3 years old and is stored in a garage both at home and at work. This is ridiculous and very poor customer support!. It was Tuesday, January 15, 2008 when this roof and pillar issue happened.

car   Roof And Pillar problem of Toyota Sienna

Roof rack detachment on highway: we have the Toyota Sienna oem roof rack cross bars installed when we purchased the vehicle, but never had actually attached anything to the cross bars. While driving down the highway, we heard a bang, looked in the mirror and saw my cross bar in the road. Immediately, pulled over and confirmed that the cross bar had in fact detached from our car and fell in the road behind us. The remaining cross bar was still on, but was cocked and the tightening mechanism was loose. Our concern: the special installation practice has been explained to me by the parts manager. Apparently, this new clamp design requires the user assure perpendicular alignment of the lower clamp plate to the roof rack, otherwise when you tighten the screw you can get a false tight sense, when the plate is cocked and not true. So, I see many things wrong with this design: (1) too much reliance on following proper installation to assure product is safely secured. (2) how tight is tight on the screw? no instructions provided? (3) excessive reliance on the owner to check this part for the life of the car - service manager says this must be intermittently tightened by the owner? where is this in the service manual? (4) it also appears that Toyota may have introduced this "easy to remove" design to appeal to those customers which complained on how long it takes to remove the earlier model roof racks (<2011), but in turn have compromised on quality and more importantly safety. (5) not only is this a unique design for the Toyota lineup of cars, it is also a unique in the industry design, which has for many years now established a history of having positive locking and redundant installations for roof rack cross bars. I wrote letter, and Toyota said our insurance covers such things, and for us to work with our dealer, rather than main company. Updated ivoq 03/20/12. This issue happened on 12/01/2011.

car   Roof And Pillar problem of Volvo V70

There was crash involved with this problem. Volvo V70--- we removed the handholds from above the driver and front seat passenger. My wife, ellen, suffered a concussion when her head struck the handhold above her as she was driving and the car was hit in the front. No airbags deployed. I found myself bumping my head against these handholds even while driving. These handholds obviously intrude into the headspace of the automobile. I am surprised that Volvo would use such iron-hard handholds without padding or without a collapsing or folding mechanism. It was November 8, 2004 when this roof and pillar issue occurred.

The rear glass would not retract. My BMW dealership stated that the complete cassette needed to be replaces at a cost of over $5,000. 00. I suggest that BMW knows this is a reliability problem but refuses to address the problem once the vehicle's warranty expires. This roof and pillar issue occurred Monday, May 24, 2010.
