Careful examination of fender well shows similar smaller problems along edge of fender well. No other exterior corrosion problems on rest of car. Dealer service manager says this failure occurred because water is weeping in between paint and body sheet metal at metal edge inside of fender well. Damage repair not covered by factory corrosion warranty because metal is not perforated by rust. A three year old car should not have these types of failures. car   Paint problem of Dodge Ram 1500

The vehicle was a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. The front bumper on my 2009 Dodge ram trx/4/offroad is rusting it is a painted bumper not chrome I contacted the dealer who took pictures and sent them to Dodge they inturn said it is not covered. After receiving a recall notice for the rear pinion nut I decided to research recalls on my Dodge ram and found that there is a recall on the chrome bumpers for this year and feel that my bumper should be included in the recall because as it was sold to me with the trx/4/offroad package it should have more protection then the chrome bumper even thou it was painted it should of been chipguarded or a vinal covered. It was Tuesday, May 1, 2012 when this paint issue happened.

car   Paint problem of Ford Mustang

The vehicle involved is a 2012 Ford Mustang. After washing my car, I noticed that the paint around the front of the hood was bubbling. I took it to my dealer and they said that the hood is aluminum and the paint has been known to bubble and will eventually start to flake off. Ford has not done anything about it. The only way to fix it would be to replace the hood. This is happening all along the front edge of the hood at this time. My car has 44,000 miles on it, is not driven in the winter and garaged almost every night. It reminds me of the 1989 Mustang I had that Ford ended up having to repaint because of the bad primer. Please make Ford offer a recall on this. After checking their warranty guide, it states that "your vehicle’s body sheet metal panels are covered for an extended corrosion coverage period, which lasts for five years, regardless of miles driven. The extended warranty coverage only applies if a body sheet metal panel becomes perforated due to corrosion during normal use due to a manufacturing defect in factory-supplied materials or factory workmanship. " my dealer said their has to be a hole in the hood in order for Ford to do anything about it. The failure date was May. 20, 2014.

car   Paint problem of Acura TL

The car is a 2012 Acura Tl. I bought my Tl in oct of 2011. About a month later I noticed a chip in the lower rear door frame which I applied some touch up paint to. Well the chips keep showing up in the same area of the lower rear door frame. I have about 8 on the passenger side and six on the driver side. The dealership believes that the front tires are throwing rocks and hitting in this part of the car. The rear quarter panels need to be repainted now to fix the chips. The dealership wants to install mud flaps (flares) on the tires and a paint film to the door edge. This is going to have to come out of my pocket. The dealership told me that this is not an isolated issue, other customers are having the same problem. This is a design error to me and I believe Acura should fix it. So far they won't even think of it since it's a rock. But the car is doing this to it's self. This problem occurred on February 1, 2012.

car   Paint problem of Honda Civic

The car was a 2004 Honda Civic. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is 2HGES16594_. Paint started to fade in 2011 and this year it had progressed rapidly. The whole back half of the roof has faded to the metal and it's starting to on the trunk. Also the clear coat is flaking off on the rear bumper. I've investigated this matter multiple times and the local Honda dealership does nothing. So I did some research online and come to find put I'm not the only one. Hundreds of thousands of Honda owners have had the same exact problem. I just would like to get the paint corrected the way it was supposed to be done when I bought the car brand new 10 years ago. I thought Hondas were supposed to last a "lifetime" right? not six years. This paint issue occurred 04/01/11.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. Elantra gt two issues related to body integrity and paint. Noticed today on rear the small triangle window in back has chrome/metal decorative molding missing. Clear the adhesive gave way. Car is only hand-washed or goes thru touch-free car wash. 5 spots on different places on the car of paint, size of the head of a q-tip, removed. Not related to scratches, paint clearly looks peeled not chipped. Locations include on hatchdoor, side panels, between door and roof, and hood. Car is in a garage at home and parking structure at work with limited outside exposure. Both issues are insane for a car with 14,826 miles on it. car   Paint problem of Infiniti QX4

The vehicle was a 2000 Infiniti Qx4. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is JNRAR07Y4Y_. Unusually high amount of, rust & corrosion (large rotted out holes) on exterior front fenders, both driver side and passenger. I beleive it is related to most recent recal in regards to front wheel wells in high salt locations of the country. Dealer would not fix the rust, when I went in for that recall. No other rust on vehicle, only those areas of front fenders, which happen to be right next to defective wheels well / strut housing area, that was the reason for the most recent recall! the rust / corrosion, is on the identical location on each fender! I am no expert, but based on the extreme amount of bubbling of the paint it is obvious the corrosion started on the underside of both fenders and worked its way out to the exterior. This issue happened on Monday, January 4, 2010.

car   Paint problem of Infiniti QX56

The vehicle involved was a 2004 Infiniti Qx56. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 5N3AA08C94_. I have complained over the course of 4-6 months about the cruise control going out. It either goes out completely, or the cruise control without Smart following goes out. When it does go out, bumping the increase speed button causes the engine to idle thuslosing speed. Expecially bad on the interstate. The dealer claims they cannot find the problem (denied this problem 3 times now). Seems funny when there is a TSB to cover the work. Date here is date of last service to repair paint which is chipping off the front. . Down to bare metal, and then metal rusting. . . Which is a whole different can of worms. This paint issue occurred Monday, March 14, 2005.

car   Paint problem of Jeep Compass

The car is a 2011 Jeep Compass. As I was putting items in the rear of my Compass the rear hatch fell on my back. I saw it start to come down and caught it with my arm and tried to lift it off of me, but it would not stay in the upright position. The dealership has ordered and received the parts on September 21st, however Jeep is waiting for more information to replace the hatch struts, as I have been having problems since January with the rear hatch rubbing the paint off of the bumper as well. If I would not of seen this come down on top of me and was able to catch it before it hit my back, it could of seriously injured me. Or if a small child would of been lifting it, and it fell on them, it would of crushed them as the rear hatch is very heavy with bad struts. There is no reason these struts should of failed as the car is only 15 months old and 10400 miles. This problem occurred on September 15, 2012.

car   Paint problem of Jeep Grand Cherokee

The vehicle involved was a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was 1J4GR48K36_. I have a 2006 Jeep grand charokee laredo. The paint has been cracking and peeling for the last two years. I have already had the roof and hood painted and spent ovr $1000. 00. When my repair guy painted it, he told me there was three coats of paint on the vehicle. I purchased the vehicle from medved in castle rock, CO in 2006 brand new. It has never been repainted. I have spoke to 3 dealerships and they told me it is a common problem. The entire vehicle is now cracked and will be completely peeled off in 1 year. The quote to fix it is $3500. 00 - $4000. 00. I called Jeep and they offered free oil changes for 2 years. Rediculous. I a still have a loan on it. There is no possible way I can afford to repaint this vehicle. car   Paint problem of Kia Motor Spectra

The vehicle was a 2009 Kia Motor Spectra. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is KNAFE22289_. January 2013 I noticed what looked like paint peeling off of the driver side mirror but realized that it was a clear coat over the paint. I went to a local kia dealer and a mechanic looked at it and said that they were not responsible for this defect. The car was purchased in may of 2010 with less than 50 miles on it. Since that day there are several other places where this is happening. I have owned many cars and never had this happen to a vehicle. I believe that kia should be responsible it is a very poor job done by the manufacturer. The car is too new for this to happen and there are no extreme circumstances. The failure date was Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013.

car   Paint problem of Kia Motor Forte

The vehicle involved is a 2012 Kia Motor Forte. We were driving our 2012 kia Forte ex (sedan) which we had purchased brand new in December 2011 to the store to get bread and were on our way home (only about 2 minutes into the drive) when we saw smoke coming from the front of the car. We pulled over within about 50 feet of seeing it, put it in park- which by the time we did so, we lost all power and couldn't even get the key out of the ignition. We got out and my boyfriend tried to pop the hood but it was already so hot he couldn't do it. . . I ran about 20 feet away for safety reasons, so I am not sure where it started, but within about 30 seconds, the flames came out of the sides and front of the hood. My boyfriend thinks it was about where the fuse box is, because that is where he noticed the paint start to bubble off. He is a mechanic and has never seen anything like it. The entire front of the car, through the dash is disintegrated. My airbags melted and poured out of the dash and roof, upholstery melted off the seats, and door panels bubbled up. All the speakers blew and melted. It happened so quickly, if I had kids in the back or couldn't have pulled over in time, there could have been very serious injuries or deaths. I am very thankful it didn't happen on my way to work, as I drive in traffic on a highway with no shoulder. I had no electronic modifications. It was entirely stock, with the exception of window tint, exhaust, a lowering kit, and aftermarket tires and wheels--all which were installed by professionals. The car had 8900 miles on it and all maintenance work had been done. Even 3 oil changes- even though kia claims the car can go 7k without one. My insurance company is going to treat it as a total loss and do an investigation on it. Kia has a case going but have not yet sent an engineer out. This issue happened on Sep. 27, 2012.

car   Paint problem of Mazda Tribute

I purchased a 2005 Mazda Tribute new from a dealership in elgin, IL. When the vehicle was approximately 2 years old, the rear lift gate began to rust, resulting in the paint peeling and flaking off. This has continued to get worse and has occured in mutliple areas on the rear lift gate. Though I located multiple reports of this same problem on the internet, there has been no recalls. car   Paint problem of Nissan Altima

Purchased my 2012 Nissan Altima coupe 8/2/2012. In just over 30 days the paint was coming off the rear bumper on both sides near the rear tire where the bumper meets the body of the car. Took the car in to have the bumper repainted. Within 60 days the paint was coming off in the same place again. Took the car back last month and was repainted with 3 flaws. . . Needless to say it has to go back yet again!! also, within a few days of purchase I noticed that the radio would not pick up local radio stations without a lot of static and interference. Only 1 out of 12 presets do I get on a consistant basis and I only drive within a 25-30 mile radius of my home. Took to the dealer and they said it was because of the window tint. Gave them information from 3m that the tint would not interfere with the radio and then they said they didn't hear it. Taken back on several occaisions and no resolve. Noticed 3/17/2013 that my leather wrapped steering wheel has split in the grain of leather and it is right where my right hand goes to drive. Transmission is not consistant. . . When I let off the gas briefly it is as if someone has hit the break pedal and the car "draws back". . . Very annoying!!! I also purchased xzilon paint protection system at the dealers recommendation because the car is black and I live in FL. . . Now 7 months later this protectant has completely ruined the paint on my car and shows horrible marks on the hood and leaves terrible water spots on the vehicle that are almost impossible to remove. Taking to the dealer for the new paint issue tomorrow. I am hoping to just trade in and get another car. . . Unfortunately under the circumstances it will be a Nissan. . . But will not be an Altima!. It was Thu., Sep. 20, 2012 when this paint issue occurred.

The paint guy looked at and said that he can't make a decision on paint, it has to be made by the Subaru rep. Oil plug on oil pan is almost stripped from getting oil changes (advised by 3 different garages). Currently attempting to get a new plug, an oversized one per 2 garages. 2. Patches of paint seem to be almost chipping away (on several spots all over the car). Took it to the dealer & they said it was due to bird poop. My car stays in a garage & gets washed bi-weekly. 3. The coating on both inside door handles is peeling. 4. The window mechanism needed fixed. Dealer fixed. 5. Recall about brake light fixed by dealer. It was Tue., Aug. 10, 2004 when this paint issue occurred.

car   Paint problem of Volvo S60

The vehicle having this issue was a 2012 Volvo S60. The car was purchased new from an authorized Volvo dealer. After little over 12k miles, there is sever paint damage on the entire surface of the car. The paint appears to be bubbling from underneath. Requires $8609. 66 to repair. Volvo only warranty the paint for 12k miles but advertises the car having 48 month 50k miles warranty. Volvo states that the car must be dried every time it gets wet (including wiping the car dry after it rains). They have given me the following excuses for why the paint is damaged: 1) water (e. G. Rain) 2) sprinkler water 3) acid rain 4) pesticides I have other cars much older than this car which do not have similar paint damage. The failure date was Monday, December 31, 2012.

car   Paint problem of Buick Riviera

The vehicle was a 1997 Buick Riviera. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1G4GD2212V_. We have a '97 Riviera with paint problems. . . If the paint becomes chipped or scratched, temperature changes cause the paint to shrink and expand (moreso when the weather turns colder) and unless I break the sheets of peeling paint off, it keeps spreading. This exposes the gray metal sealer. I'd be glad to send you a sample of the paint (champainge pearl) while supplies last. The failure date was Saturday, November 29, 2003.
