While parking I heard a noise in the front end and upon turning the wheel harder the power steering went out. I could barely turn the wheel. Later in the day put in more power steering fluid thinking that was the problem but had the same issue. I thought the power steering was going out as I was hearing a grinding type noise in the front end. The next day I could feel something under the driver floor board and louder noises when turning hard. Took it to my mechanic and was told sub-frame is rusted and needs replaced as well as the rack and pinion; this will start out as a $2000. 00 repair and could go up to $4000. 00 depending on what else they find when they work on it. This is a safety hazard and should be fixed by gm as they used shoddy materials building this vehicle. My mechanic said I shouldn't drive it as I may loose control of the vehicle. This car was kept in a garage for the first 10 years I have owned it and has only been parked outside for about 5 years. At only 89,000 miles I am disgusted at the way this vehicle was built. I have also replaced the head gasket, not once, but twice!. It was Saturday, April 12, 2014 when this frame rust issue occurred.

Frame Rust problem of Chrysler Pacifica
The VIN of the car is 2C8GM48L05_. The 2004-05 Chrysler Pacifica subframes are defective, they rust and corrode to the point of being unsafe to drive. This has been an issue that been reported to the NHTSA before. A twenty year old car's subframe should not rust and corrode to the point that the engine could fall out, much less a nine year old car like mine and many others who have reported this. Found out Chrysler first offered an extended warranty of 10yrs 150,000 for people who live in high salt usage states, such as minnesota where I live. My car qualified so I called Chrysler and the guy said take it to the dealership and they will take care of it under warranty. Took it to mckays family Dodge in st. Cloud and glen ertl lifted it up, took pictures for Chrysler to see, and then told me my car wasn't under warranty. In the process of lifting my car up mckays somehow broke my motor mount which I was told later by my regular mechanic and it now made a clunking sound when I accelerate and feels very unsafe to drive. Glen told us to "prove it" that he had broke it, very good business practices. Called Chrysler back and they told us it was a new employee who told me it covered under warranty but it actually wasn't even though I was holding a letter from Chrysler saying all 2004-05 Pacifica's under the criteria I mentioned above were qualified for the repair under warranty. This is a dangerous problem that many others have reported and it needs to be addressed. Thank you for any help you can offer. This frame rust issue occurred May 19, 2014.

The VIN of the problem Pacifica is 2A4GM426R8_. I had my 2006 Chrysler Pacifica in for a routine inspection and two places on my subframe it has rusted all the way through the frame. I know there has been an extended warranty letter sent by Chrysler to all 2004-2005 Pacifica owners but the 2006 Pacificas have the exact same subframe. I filed a case with Chrysler's corporate offices and am waiting for their response. I have only 90k miles and my car is in mint condition. Often I am asked if it is a brand new vehicle. The contact stated that after it rains gushes of water come in from the sides of the vehicle by the glove compartment causing the frame to begin rusting. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician diagnose there was debris in the evaporator drain. The drain was cleared and the windshield was replaced but the problem still persisted. I had baught the truck in Feb of 2013 from a private saler and I had noticed the driver side was leaning a bit more than the rest of the truck, so I crawled under and lo and behold I noticed that the frame was rusted so bad that the cab mounts was almost gone , and I got to looking and the whole entire frame from front to rear was rusted really really bad. I have never seen a frame rust that bad with 110000 miles . This issue happened on Saturday, March 2, 2013.

Tl- the owner has a 2005 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, a loud banging noise was heard from the rear passenger side of the vehicle. The contact discovered that the panel that attached the rear passenger side shock absorber was rusted and became separated from the frame of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed the defect as a rusted frame but no repairs were performed. The manufacturer was notified but no solution was offered. Frame Rust problem of Ford Ranger
Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is 1FTZR45E86_. I have a 2006 Ford Ranger that I purchased new (its my second Ranger I had a 1996 that I traded in. I really like Rangers but have run into a major problem with rust on my Ranger. The spring shackles rusted and broke on both sides last week. I took my bed off to replace the shackles and found the brackets were also rusted out. The frame is very rusty and there is rusted holes through on the drivers side rear frame. I have have not got to the frame under the cab or front of truck yet. Is there a recall or can I expect help from Ford. The safety factor of the frame concerns me. This problem occurred on 04/25/13.

Frame Rust problem of GMC Yukon
The car involved was a 2002 GMC Yukon xl. We purchased the 2002 Yukon from mcguire dealership in NJ its been cared for taken to the dealership faithfully driven by my 50 year old father, when first driving he noticed the pedal vibrating rapidly during normal brake applications. The abs control valve was the culprit along with a rusty wheel sensor. It was replaced at the dealer and after 5 years the frame of the truck is rusting and rotting along with suspension parts and most of all the brakes. We came close to crashing one day when the pedal went straight to the floor, we take it to the local firestone and they tell us all the brake lines are rusted out along with the master cylinder. We replaced the lines and master cylinder with a hefty price tag. We get the car back 3 days later pedal goes to the floor again, back at the mechanic both rear calipers are rusted and leaking. We replaced all 4 calipers and the problem stopped but now the frame is rusting and the abs is still vibrating badly. Long story short gm needs to be held accountable for selling such cheap crappy trucks, we came close a few times to crashing, and I feel sorry for the people that have lost their lives due to the neglegence of the employees of gm. This problem occurred on March 5, 2010.

Frame Rust problem of GMC Yukon
The car involved was a 2001 GMC Yukon. Driving vehicle at approx 45mph, came to stop at red light and brake pedal went completely to the floor. Pumped the brake pedal again and nothing. Down shifted transmission to slow down and pressed the emergency brake to come to a stop. Pulled over to the side of the road, lifted the hood no brake fluid in rear section of master cylinder. Noticed brake fluid dripping under the front of the drivers door on the ground. Had the vehicle towed home and looked under the vehicle and the brake line was dripping fluid. The brake lines are completely rusted and the frame is really rusted. Just got the vehicle out of the GMC shop for routine service. Can't figure why they didn't notice or at least tell me that I might have a problem. I called them and advise what issue I was having. They advised that gm would not cove the issue and 1300. 00 would maybe cover the line replacement plus. I am not happy. Worked hard to buy this vehicle and now that I am retired from the military I really do not have the funds to replace the lines and do something about the rusty frame. This problem occurred on 02/13/2013.

Frame Rust problem of Acura TL
The vehicle involved is a 2003 Acura Tl. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is 19UUA56843_. I got my Acura 2003 Tl type s back from my local dealership and was told that the subframe on the passenger side of the vehicle was completly rusted and that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The car's a/c drain is right above the area of the subframe rust. This a major defect in the car that is causing the subframe to be rotted through and unsafe. I also found that the Honda accord 1999-2002 has the same problem with the subframe rust from the a/c drain. I notified the car manufacturer of this probelm and they are denying that there is anything wrong with the car's craftsmanship. This frame rust problem happened on June 18, 2013.

The vehicle involved was a 2001 Jeep Wrangler. Removed transmission cross member to replace clutch. Found complete bottom of frame rusted from inside so as to make unsafe to drive. Since have found that new frame is not available and if a used frame is found it to is rusted as to be dangerous. Have checked online and found this to be a common problem. I work in collision repair and find this to be a serious fault. This needs to be addressed quickly before a death occurs. My son's Jeep would kill him in an accident. The car is a 2002 Jeep Wrangler. I purchased the Jeep 6/04. I purchased it for transportation back and forth to work. It was never used off road. It only has approx 81000 miles and the frame is completely rusted from approx. The back of the front tires to the front of the rear tire. There may be more but we have to completely strip down vehicle to establish if there is more damage. Its so bad that you can put a screw driver through and through the frame and the transmission and the tray is disconnected from frame to frame and is completely hanging. Scare to drive it. Jeep may fold crumble in half. This I definitely a safety issue. If I did't see all the rust on the driveway I would have been driving and god only know if there could have been a fatality. With the Jeep only being 11 years at the time of the occurrence. I find it hard to believe that this could happen and there is no warranty on this that I have been able to find. So sad with out my Jeep!!!!. This frame rust problem happened on Wednesday, February 6, 2013.

Frame Rust problem of Lincoln LS
The vehicle is a 2001 Lincoln Ls. While driving 20 mph, the contact heard a screeching noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. Upon further inspection, he noticed that the rear driver's side wheel subframe was rusted, which caused the lower control arm to fail. The vehicle was towed and the tow driver observed that the opposite rear frame also failed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the subframe was rusted out. Frame Rust problem of Mazda Tribute
My 2003 Mazda Tribute subframe snapped after 9-10 years of owning the vehicle. When that happened my wife immediately pulled into a merlin and they informed her we cannot drive the vehicle out of there or it would break all the way through. We were informed we have until the end of the upcoming Monday to have it towed out of there. We had it towed and were given $220 dollars for the Tribute. The subframe completely snapped all the way through while the tow truck employee turned the wheel. I'm concerned because my wife was driving my Tribute with my son in the car. It seems dangerous having the subframe would rust and break within a timeframe that someone would typically own a vehicle. Especially with my wife and son in the vehicle. Is this a freak of nature incident or is this something that would be considered manufacturer error. It was Friday, Jul. 5, 2013 when this frame rust issue happened.

The vehicle having this issue was a 1997 Mercedes Benz E Class. Spring perches on the front suspension has rusted and are falling apart. This car is pathetic, wouldn't give this make to my worse enemy. I will be making another phone call to Mitsubishi motors. Definitely a lemon in every sense of the word. The car was a 1995 Nissan Pathfinder. Baker plate rusted and wedged into brakes and rotors - literally tore everything up. . Cv boot damaged- rotors defaced- brakes defaced- all need replacing and mind you the brakes were newer had this not rusted I would not be having this expense. I have had problems with this SUV and rusted frame. Both side rails are torn off -due to rust the gas tank has had to be fixed twice due to the frame rubbing on it. I love this SUV and am highly disappointed that although built to last its truly not lasting. . I am shocked and amazed that at the rust and deterioration of frame . Nissan really needs to help us resolve these ongoing problems the danger in gas tank leaks due to frame rotting is extreme. I have had my gas tank fixed twice - my nissnan is literally falling apart. It was 08/02/13 when this frame rust issue occurred.

The vehicle involved was a 1999 Suzuki Vitara. While driving at night, brakes were applied in an emergency stop to avoid hitting a deer running across the highway. There was a loud bang noise from the front of the car. Anchor for the right "a" arm is rusted out in the frame front cross member causing the vehicle to dive to the left and into the oncoming lane of traffic when the brakes were applied to avoid hitting a deer crossing the road. Frame cross member and related parts will have to be replaced. Vehicle is now unstable going down the road. It was Monday, March 29, 2010 when this frame rust issue happened.

1998 Volkswagen Cabrio GLS front windshield header has rusted and no longer capable of supporting the weight of the vehicle.
