Upon pulling into my driveway, I activated the interior lights of the vehicle for further inspection. I discovered my dash cracked from the passenger side airbag down into the front defogger vent. I have researched this issue and it seems that it is quite widespread. It was 04/07/14 when this dashboard crack issue occurred.

Dashboard also deformed and appears to be sticking to airbag compartment around the edges on the top. The crack is growing. The crack initially formed suddenly while I was driving, and made a loud clap, which could startle drivers. I am concerned that the air bag could fail due to this defect and further cracks could form suddenly making startling noises while driving. Called my local dealer, where I purchased my car, universal Nissan and Hyundai they did not have an knowledge regarding cracks on the passenger side dashboard over the airbag. They suggested that I call Hyundai, I did. I got the same round a round, they gave me case # 5235732. I've seen on the internet many more people with the same problem. Their emails from mechanics and Hyundai personnel acknowledge the issue with the crack over the airbag and that did have their dashboards exchanged. If ever I have an accident and the passenger airbag does not deploy properly and someone is injured or dies some one will answer for it. It was Wednesday, December 7, 2011 when this dashboard crack issue happened.

Dashboard Crack problem of Hyundai Tucson
The car involved is a 2005 Hyundai Tucson. The second issue was in regards to water pouring through into the inside of the vehicle from behind the glove box on the passenger side. The first Hyundai dealer claimed, as they did with the airbag, that there was nothing wrong after they checked it out. Despite having water visible on the passenger mat. After the problem persisted, which only occurred after a long or heavy period of rainfall, I took the vehicle to a second Hyundai dealer. They checked the issue and said that they replaced some stripping on the body. The first rain yielded a pouring of water onto the floor and a return to the dealer. The second dealer checked this leak again and this time said they replaced the weather stripping. After the first rainfall after receiving the car back I got into the car to find a puddle of water on the floor and lifted the mat on the passenger side to find a soaked carpet. The soaking led under the divider between the passenger and driver floor area and behind the radio. Currently I have returned the vehicle for repairs for a 4th time, meeting the lemon requirement if the problem is not corrected. The dealer has had the vehicle 3 days. On day 2 I was to pickup the vehicle to find that the dashboard was damaged during their repairs and they had to keep the vehicle an extra day to replace the dashboard. I am currently awaiting to get my vehicle back to see if the leak has been fixed or not. But this is a major problem as water leaking through areas with electrical components, especially near a improperly working passenger airbag, may cause all sorts of issues. This problem occurred on 10/01/05.

I started noticing that the dashboard on the passenger side starting cracking around the area where the air bag is located. I have reached out to ocean Mazda and to Mazda USA. No one took the time to call me back. I am very upset and concerned that the air bag may deploy without warning since the dask is cracked or worst case scenario that the air bag will not deploy correctly when in a collision. This very is in great condition with very low miles and should not have a dashboard that only cracks around the perforation lines of the passenger side airbag. Dashboard Crack problem of Mercedes Benz E430
The car involved is a 1999 Mercedes Benz E430. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was WDBJF70H9X_. Passenger side airbag has developed cracks in the dash board that separate the air bag from the occupants. I feel the air bag may not fire properly since the dash board is cracked all the way through on 1/2 of the total area that surrounds the airbag. I brought the car to my local dealership but they did not do anything and really did not care. I also tried to reach the area dsm for mercedes but the local service manager would never patch me through. The cracks have developed through the dash board decomposing unusually quickly for a car that is a 1999 model. I have never seen a dashboard crack this badly on anything other than a 10+ year old car. I have spoken to many people that have this same problem on their mercedes E430's and have attempted to get mercedes to do something about the problem but mercedes has not even attempted to act to fix the problems. I am out of ways to get the attention of mercedes and am forced to file this complaint to the NHTSA. This dashboard crack problem happened on Thursday, July 24, 2003.

Dashboard Crack problem of Mercury Mystique
The car was a 1999 Mercury Mystique. The VIN of this vehicle was 3MEFM66L3X_. The dashboard next to the windshield is curled up so as to obstruct my vision and cause defroster vents to not work properly. The black plastic "vent" is laying there loose and rattling against the inside of my windshield. I am concerned as to whether this will effect my air bag function if I were in an accident. I was told by my dealer that there was a recall,but it had expired, and they couldn't help me unless I wanted to pay about 350-400 dollars for a "kit" to possibly remedy the situation. The problem did not manifest itself until after the recall was over. I feel that Ford is well aware of this problem and should take an active role in repairing this damage to my dashboard. The is a safety issue as well as an unsightly nuisance. I hope this helps someone get some relief from Ford concerning this issue. This issue happened on Sep. 10, 2003.

The car was a 2009 Subaru wrx. First at all merry christmas! ill try my best to describe what happened with the car. Its 5 speed manual transmission . On my way home to see my family for christmas heard loud pop sound from under the dash. Kinda scared me but after the inspection didn't see any damage. Turned the engine on again but noticed right away that my clutch pedal doesn't feel the same. ( I have stock clutch and transmission) right now clutch pedal makes squeezing noise, and my brake pedal moves when I push the clutch pedal . At home opened the hood and asked my dad to push the clutch pedal couple times, noticed that clutch master cylinder is noticeably moving all over the place. The car was a 2006 Toyota Camry solara. I am the first owner of the Toyota which now has 46,000 miles, and always been garaged. The problem is the dashboard which has many cracks in it and the dashboard is melting and sticky. This started about 2 years ago and is continuing to get worse with more deterioration. The safety issue problem is the dashboard is very shinny and makes it difficult to see when driving on a sunny day. The cracks in the dashboard are also a concern since they may interfere with the deployment of the dashboard air bags in an accident. Five years ago Toyota replaced all the defective vinyl window moldings on the car without my request. This show they may have a problem with their vinyl supplier. A local Toyota dealer, earl stewart Toyota, north palm beach, FL has requested Toyota make a no charge recall. This also is a problem with Lexus and Nissan vehicles. In the past few years Toyota has been able to conceal or been very slow to address known defects. I trust your agency can make Toyota comply with a speedy recall with no charge to the owners.
