Computer Failure Problems in popular cars

Computer Failure problem is a common vehicle problem that happens to most car brands and models. The following is a sample list of Computer Failure problems reported in most popular vehicles.

car   Computer Failure problem of Chevrolet Malibu

The vehicle is a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic, who diagnosed that the computer chip failed. car   Computer Failure problem of Chevrolet Cobalt

The owner has a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt lt. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start after being informed by neighbors that the headlights and brake lights were illuminated all night. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where they advised the contact that the computer module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired for the computer several months later. In addition, while driving approximately 50 mph, the power steering failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and repaired under NHTSA campaign id number 10v073000 (steering:electric power assist system) however, the failure recurred shortly after having the recall repairs performed. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 100. It was Jul. 1, 2009 when this computer failure issue occurred.

car   Computer Failure problem of Chrysler Town & Country

The vehicle involved was a 2005 Chrysler town and country. Instrument cluster lights all go on, then the gauges stop working, the trip computer stops fails, the lights flicker high to low or low to high beam and can't be changed sometimesthe engine stops running while travelling down the road at 25-75 mph! the first indicator seems that the air bag light comes on as being "off". Sometimes the lights & gauges go back to notmal. A guaranteed short-term fix is to remove the battery to reset the battery button under the battery, or take the positive terminal off & ground it against an exposed bolt. Many seem to have been fooled into buying a new battery, only to have the same problem re-arrise, inadvertantly "fixed" when the a new battery, but just lifting the old battery a little would have done the same short-term trick. The sequence of failure seems to be (rain influenced?): air bag light comes on, lights flicker, all guages & gear position indicators light up, speedo & tach pulse then fail, then you can just drive with all warning lights lit -no tach or speedo. . . Then every thing resets in 10 seconds to 10 minutes, or, dash lights go out then the engine quits, leaving you driving a powerless rolling brick in traffic, fighting the steering wheel without power steering, having only inertia (if you are Smart enough to have thrown the van into neutral) to coast off the road, through an intersection, etc. Our dealership's diagnosis was a "bad instrument cluster" - hardly, as I don't see how disconnecting the battery will instantly "fix" the instrument cluster for a while, or how the cluster will affect switching between high & low beams, or kill the engine after a sequence of events. This is a well know progressively dangerious problem, of failure leading to sudden loss of power. There are many, many electrical complaints relating to electrical failures regarding loss of functionality and engine power. This computer failure issue occurred Jul. 2, 2012.

car   Computer Failure problem of Dodge Grand Caravan

The car is a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. I am experiencing electrical problems with the 2008 Grand Caravan. The van cuts off while moving. The lights blink. The radio suddenly turns on. Sometimes the doors will not unlock. The problems all appear to be related to the computer malfunctioning in the van. The may cause an accident if the van loses power and control while driving. It was December 18, 2012 when this computer failure issue occurred.

car   Computer Failure problem of Dodge Ram 1500

The vehicle involved was a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1C6RD7MT1C_. Started vehicle after I ran errands and got about 500 yards before vehicle displayed serious electrical issues. The electrical issues included the windshield wipers running when the windshield wiper control was set to off, displaying a warning that the driver side seat belt was not latched when the seat belt was latched, displaying a low engine fuel warning when there was over half a tank of gas, displaying a warning for low tire pressure when the tire pressure was okay. Prior to this incident the vehicle has on occasion been difficult to start, acting as if it was not getting enough fuel or the battery was low. Eventually the vehicle engine would engage after several turns of the ignition switch. This is the second time since purchasing this brand new vehicle that we have had electrical issues. The first time the computer had to be rebooted in the vehicle. This time may require the same thing. When I spoke with the dealers service representative, he stated that it could be possible for the computer to turn off the vehicle when experiencing this type of computer malfunction. He said that it might require the driver to coast to a stop. Seems as if this scenario, would pose a serious danger or threat to both the occupants of the vehicle and surrounding vehicles that could result in death or injury. It was 11/03/2012 when this computer failure issue occurred.

car   Computer Failure problem of Ford Edge

The vehicle is a 2010 Ford Edge. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is 2FMDK4ACXA_. Vehicle was parked. . . Went to start vehicle. . . Bright light indicator was on on dashboard, unable to move vehicle out of park unless manually done, when vehicle starts all indicators on instrument panel comes on, notices under the computer output on instrument panel indicates a host of problems, so basically the computer has failed to some nature causing errors to show. Hazards don't work, brake and turn signals don't work, but the vehicle will start at least until the battery is dead from the lights on the instrument panel run it out. Had this covered under warranty twice this is the third occurrence without determination of problem. Vehicle has to be towed to dealership for repair. . . I believe resetting the computer is the only option because diagnostics run do not indicate a known problem. My belief is that after 3 occurrences of this the common denominator is a strong electrical storm occurring prior to the computer failing. The vehicle has not been hit by lightning, but, there has been heavy strikes around or near the vehicle that upset the computer. . . Jury is still out on my theory, but this is what I have observed. This computer failure issue occurred Tue., Jul. 30, 2013.

car   Computer Failure problem of Ford Mustang

The vehicle is a 2005 Ford Mustang. I was driving at night at around 30mph when everything electrical went dead in my car including headlights and dashboard but the engine was still running. I was able to drive the car home but could not start it the next morning. Had to flat bed it to the dealership where they told me the whole computer system failed and had to be replaced. This happened 3 more time since then. Each time I was charged $3000 to have it replaced. It shouldn't happen once let alone 3 times. Another recent problem, my engine caught fire causing everything on the left side of my car to be replaced. Ford denied any "real problems they could find". Also had my gas tank replaced twice because it wouldn't fill up. And to add to everything, my gearshift needs to be replaced because a little plastic piece that hides the holes when u shift up or down, broke. $600 estimate at Ford. As well as my engine smoking after driving for 2 hours at 65-70 mph. Do not buy a Ford. Iv'e spent over $12k fixing the problems that I never caused. Ford refused to pay a dime or take any responsibility. Too many problems causing unsafe situations for me as well as other drivers and pedestrians around me. ## VIN failed ##. This issue happened on September 14, 2007.

car   Computer Failure problem of GMC Acadia

Purchased a new 2009 GMC Acadia, the navigation, radio and dvd system failed. Vehicle only had 405 miles on it. I noted that there were 4 electrical failures documented in NHTSA report on the Acadia. The nav. Radio and dvd are powered by the electrical system as is the computer system and for this reason I have concern that a computer failure might occur while driving the vehicle which could be a serious safety concern. The vehicle was taken to dealer for repair, they could not repair the failed system nor did they even know what was wrong with the system. Dealer had to replace the system. No reason by the dealer was given as to why the navigation, radio and dvd system failed. They said they may never know why it failed. The failed equipment was to be sent into GMC for a failure analysis. The failure date was Saturday, November 28, 2009.

car   Computer Failure problem of Honda Odyssey

Ref: 2005 Honda Odyssey engineer computer malfunction dangerous safety issue 2005 Odyssey touring model 1) lets start with what has happened to this Odyssey engine computer, or engine warning light last three years, two problems so far: a little over one year after I got this Odyssey, the yellow engine light started to come on. Took it to diamond bar Honda, they just reset the light without doing any checking; they told me this is Honda imposed standard procedure. Another few months went by, the engine light came on again. This time Honda care finally authorized the part replacement. 2) I thought things were ok not until the engine light came on again, this time with big amber message stating inspect vsa also. I stopped and restarted the engine, the light went off. On the second day, while I was driving at I-60, suddenly with no warning, both engine and inspect vsa came on again. And the car started to slow down considerably on the freeway. The vehicle slowed down to less than 20 mph with did not response to the gas pedal. I had to immediately pull my car to right side shoulder, almost rear ended by a semi-truck. This is absolutely down right dangerous and un-safe. I could have been seriously injured by this from driving at 65 mph and slowed to <20 mph in few seconds!! however, this is no longer Honda dragging your feet and save cost issue. This is a serious product safety issue now! with this letter, I am officially putting Honda on notice on this seriously safety problem / defect. I told my wife and will inform my attorney that in case I get rear ended on the road, this engine stalling will be the cause of the accident. This issue happened on Monday, January 4, 2010.

car   Computer Failure problem of Hyundai Tiburon

The car is a 1999 Hyundai Tiburon. Had cd player replaced, computer failure after that where the check engine light comes on, they replaced it - the the battery died for no reason, they replaced that, now my car is shifting out of control and surges when at stop light with my foot on the brake pedal, while driving 60m mph the car shifts into the same gear continuously and jolts then slows - they cant see a problem and say they cant help me, when they test drive it it's fine - the second I take it home from the dealership it starts up - it is dangerous to drive but since they cant find the problem from a test drive and computer test they dont know what to do except send me home with a dangerous car. This problem occurred on Nov. 21, 2001.

car   Computer Failure problem of Infiniti G37

2009 Infiniti G37x coupe is experiencing dangerous surges in acceleration upon braking, the transmission is jerking and going into "fail safe mode" (meaning suddenly the car is stuck in the highest gear), the rear differential is clunking and jerking as if the car is going into awd mode at times it should not be, and quite frankly I am now becoming scared of the car. It has 3800 miles on it. I took it into the dealership on Friday and was told there are a couple of known issues with the transmission but no fix. They also are calling hq on Monday to talk about it. I do not want to leave my car to be driven around erratically as they try to "break" it as that will cause further damage to the transmission and engine as well as put more miles on the car. Infiniti service agreed that remapping the computer would most likely take away the specifications of the car which are what they market and I bought the car for (horsepower, acceleration, "same as a BMW". If they have to gut the power of the car to fix the problem, I feel this is false advertising and the car is not what I contracted to purchase. I am on the verge of watching my resale plunge before the car is even six months old and believe Infiniti should have to replace the vehicle. This problem is happening repeatedly everytime I drive the car. See notes below: 1. Central computer clearly failing - had to be restored yesterday. 2. Reaf diff clunking in and out of awd loudly and with a jerk and at unexpected times 3. Surging rpms as much as 5000 upon driving 4. Surging rpms and acceleration upon braking (3000 rpm) 5. Hanging instead of downshifting 6. Very jerky downshifts 7. Tranny went into failsafe at least 3 times now (meaning no gear below 5th is available at any time). The failure date was Wednesday, March 10, 2010.

car   Computer Failure problem of Jeep Commander

The car involved was a 2007 Jeep Commander. I purchasedmy 2007jeepcommander on august05,2013 with 117,578 miles on it. Within a week, I was driving approx. 30 mphwheninoticedthevehiclefeelinglike it had a hard time accelerating, whenitslowed down completely but did not shut off. Panicking, I kept pressingtheacceleratorandmovedtheshifter out of gear when the vehicle jerked and resumed back up to speed. A few days later the vehicle, while traveling at approximately 50 mph completely slowed down again but did not come to a complete stop and service park assist illuminated onthedashboardwithall the gears lit up at the same time as if saying the Jeep was in all gears at the same time. Within a couple of hours the check engine light came on. I brought the vehicle to a repair shop, were they scanned the code and told me it wasn't a "real code" probably a computer malfunction and it should turn off on its own, which it did, a day later. This has happened at least 8 different times throughout the 5 months of owning this vehicle. Finally I looked onlinefor recalls, there is a power-train and electrical recall for the time my Jeep was manufactured, explaining all the same troubles I've been having, however when I called Chrysler customer service, I was advised I had a side airbag recall but nothing on power-train. When I told the representative that the warranty was for my vehicle in the time it was manufactured she told me it wasn't in the system and that if I wanted it fixed I would have to go to the dealership pay for it and keep my receipt and when Chrysler came out with a recall for my Jeep I could come forward. Meanwhile, I'm driving around in a documented unsafe vehicle with my 18 month old in the back and I have to either wait for this car to cause an accident or enough people complain and they issue another recall. Please help, I just want this vehicle to be safe for my children. This problem occurred on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013.

car   Computer Failure problem of Kia Motor Sorento

The car involved is a 2013 Kia Motor Sorento. I have a 2013 kia Sorento that I bought brand new with only 8 miles on it. I was at a stop light and my car lunged forward as if someone hit us from behind but there was no one there. So when the light turned green we started to go and noticed we had no power and the check engine light was on. We were able to get to the side of the road and turn off the car and called aaa and the dealership telling them what happened. So once it got there the service tech and it probably was the computer and it needed to be updated . I stayed there for about 1 hour while they did the update and then they test drove it and the check engine light came back on. So then they said it was the throttle body so they replaced it and test drove it again and the check engine light came on again. So they found that it was the pcm . Not totally sure what that is. He says it was 1500$ part in the computer that was malfunctioning . But they had my car for a week doing the repairs and now is running good. They also have me a rental car. So in all the dealership did a good job fixing my car and wouldn't stop until it was fixed right. The failure date was Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014.

car   Computer Failure problem of Mercury Monterey

The vehicle having this issue was a 2005 Mercury Monterey. VIN of the vehicle was 2MRZA21205_. My 2005 Mercury van died without warning and after taking it in for repair, was informed it was the pcm module or computer that failed due to moisture. The cost of repairs is $962 and the module design is defective allowing moisture to cause the part to fail. The part is mounted in the front cowl and not protected nor sealed from weather. Research has shown that this is a widespread problem on this model and many horrific safety incidents have happened with the van's failure. Ford should be held accountable for this defect!. car   Computer Failure problem of Mitsubishi Eclipse

The vehicle is a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse. I have a mitisubishi Eclipse 2003 100000 miles ( majority highway). In the spring of 08-the vehicle was making noise when accelerating, the vehicle was changing gears hard and was advise it was the transmission/motor mounds. The problem occurred intermittently while driving as much as 40mph. Took it back to mitisubishi dealer for service/diagnosis-told possible eventually trans, timing belt and possibly radiator, which was one of another consumers resolve. Well, they flush the radiator and it resolve the problem of driving but not the noise. Also June 2009-after driving 5 mph I noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment, the consumer pulled over ( call for tow and later opened the hood to see all the insulation smolder). After being stranded for over an hour I was towed to my destination. The car was later towed to contractor advise possible distributor, realized it was not the distributor and suggest car is towed to mitsubish for official computer service diagnosis ( due to car starting but not turning over). Advise, by the mitisubishi service tech all of the electrical wires were melted. . . Computer failure/extreme electrical system damage, harness melted etc; I ask the dealer service manager @ the dealership, what would cause this and had this happen before? he stated ?not sure of cause?and was really shocked to the damage "possible fuse, ignition wires something" not sure. Diagnostic testing cost $112. 00 repair estimate $5400. Help!!!I the manufacture needs to be made aware of this hazard of a problem; if not already. With recall/replacement and/or reimburse good faith and loyal Mitsubishi consumers. I won't began to explain the numerous brake/rotors & tires replaced/repaired within 5 years of purchased in September 2002. This problem occurred on Tuesday, June 2, 2009.

car   Computer Failure problem of Mitsubishi Diamante

I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Diamante. I have kept regular maintenance. I am submitting this form because of a heater core issue I am having. However I have had the following problems with this car. All these problems seem to be recurring problems that happen to many people with this model. At least that is what I find when I search the issues on the internet 1- vibration in steering wheel --this happened multiple times after taking car back to dealer-it appears there is a known issue with the rotors in this car. After having the rotors cut twice by the dealer with no long lasting success. I had to have the brakes and rotors replaced by a mechanic ( car had less the 10,000 miles when issue started happening) 2- rusted muffler--not sure if this issue happens often but after 23,000 miles I had to have my muffler replaced because there was a hole rusted through the top of it-I was told this could happen for not using the car very much in the winter time( road salt can cause the rust) 3- heater core- I know have a heater core problem in this car. I have antifreeze leaking in passenger compartment. I have an antifreeze smell in the cabin of the car. My windows fog and the defroster will not clear the windshield ( makes it worse). I am low in antifreeze because of this. My service engine light has now come on and I am told this can be caused by leaking antifreeze onto the computer which is positioned under the heater core. This issue is widely reported on the internet in many forums and seems everybody with a Diamante will eventually have this problem. I am being told this repair can cost over 1,000 dollars 4-I have had to replace 3 sensors in the engine 2 egr and 1 idle sender (cost around 1,500 dollars). This may or may not be because of the heater core issues causing the cars computer to fail. The failure date was Nov. 24, 2007.

car   Computer Failure problem of SAAB 9-3

My 2003 SAAB 9-3 with 900 miles has been back to the dealer to be serviced on 3 separate occasions for computer malfunctions. I have leased this car for about a month. The dealer has attempted repairs but has not been successful. The computer problems have been a hazard while driving the car and have also been a nuisance. The locking system on the car has failed to work on more than 3 occasions leaving the car un-lockable and it has triggered the alarm system on many occasions. The dome light will light and stay on when I am driving making it difficult to drive at night. There have been other computer malfunctions that I can discuss in detail if needed. The computer problems make this car unpredictable and in my opinion dangerous to drive. It was 01/18/2003 when this computer failure issue happened.

car   Computer Failure problem of Toyota Prius

The vehicle was a 2008 Toyota Prius. VIN of the vehicle was JTDKB20U08_. On 20 may 2010 at 11,966 miles every brake/stability warning light came on (including the warning for the parking/emergency brake which was not engaged), regenerative braking appeared to have failed, and hydraulic/friction brakes behaved as if abs was acting at a very slow pulse rate, approximately a 5-second cycle. For about 2 seconds during the "off" portion of this cycle the brakes were effectively inoperative, with the parking/emergency brake the only source of braking. This behavior persisted after shutting down and restarting the car. The dealer's service department reported that three errors had been logged: c1247 - stroke sensor c1300 - abs ecu malfunction c2318 - low voltage error resetting the computers cleared the warning indications and restored normal brake system behavior. At my behest, the dealer worked with Toyota engineering to identify why a low voltage would cause a computer failure which could cause substantial loss of braking ability. They kept the car for 8 days but did not appear to complete any sort of root cause analysis of the failure. On 17 December 2012 at 27,324 miles the brakes again failed with the same set of warning lights illuminated. This time, abs does not appear to be active at all. For the first 2-5 cm of brake pedal travel, in the regime where regenerative braking would be active, no braking is evident. As the pedal is further depressed, the hydraulic/friction brakes abruptly engage. Pressing harder does result in increased braking though braking is rough. No pulsation as might be expected from abs was noticed. No attempt was made to brake hard enough to lock up the brakes. The vehicle is currently at the dealer. This computer failure problem happened on May. 20, 2010.

car   Computer Failure problem of Toyota Corolla

The vehicle involved is a 2006 Toyota Corolla. My daughter was driving the Toyota 2006 Corolla when the windows stop working, then the lights begin stop working so she parked the car. The car would not start up again so she was able to get someone with jumper cables to start the car. She contacted performance Toyota who instructed her to bring the car to Toyota. They informed us that the car computer's ecu unit needed to be replaced and they replaced the ecu with no charge since the car was under warranty. However, they charged me $257. 99 for a wire that had shortened behind the dash causing the fuses to blow. I believe that it was due to the computer failure but they disagreed. Then on June 20, 2012 while the car was being repaired by performance collision body shop they contacted me to inform me that the car wouldn't start. I towed it to performance Toyota and they inform me that the ecu computer failed and needed to be replaced. I will submit a new complaint for this incident. It was Monday, Aug. 25, 2008 when this computer failure issue happened.

car   Computer Failure problem of Volkswagen Touareg

On two occasions my 2004 Volkswagen Touareg v-8 experienced complete electrical system failures. The vehicle would not start on these two occasions. There was no electrical power as if the battery were completely depleted. I did not cause any electrical/battery drain, I. E. Leaving on lights or leaving any electrical equipment on. Local vw dealership service conducted an analysis and found several faults stored. But the service adviser said none of the stored faults indicated what caused the complete electrical failure. First incident was April, 2004 and most recent Dec. 28, 2004. I also experienced numerous other electrical and/or computer malfunctions. These malfunctions were related all-wheel drive system, drive line system, stability control system, anti-lock brakes, steering input, door locks, interior lighting features, tire pressure monitoring, and keyless remote. All-wheel drive system, drive line system, anti-lock brakes, and steering input malfunctions occurred four total times. Dealer/service could not "duplicate" the problem and no repairs were made. The door locks and interior lighting problems were constant but dealer/service could not "" the problem. The tire pressure monitoring was repaired and has been problem free since March 2004. The keyless remote door lock/unlock was repaired and works better but has not been problem free. This problem occurred on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004.

car   Computer Failure problem of Volkswagen Passat

The vehicle is a 2003 Volkswagen Passat. Design defect results in failure of computer due to water flooding. Computer failure results in disabling of vehicle and expensive repairs. This condition caused by parking the car where leaves occasionally fall onto it. Reason: windshield drains into compartment containing the battery, which has a drain hole located under the battery, requiring removal of battery to properly clean. Drain gets clogged due to leaves, resulting in battery compartment filling with water. When this happens, water enters passenger compartment foot well. I took my car to vw dealer with this condition and they told me the computer could get flooded/ruined and this would not be covered under warranty due to "external influence". They agreed to clean the drain free of charge, but were unable and unwilling to provide me with a service advisory that the drain must be cleared to prevent computer damage. I contacted vw of America and they acknowledge the problem over the phone but refused to provide any written statement of the existence of the problem and refused to provide a written, permanent remedy for this problem, or to modify the car so this would not happen. This computer failure problem happened on 02/28/2006.

car   Computer Failure problem of Volvo XC90

The car involved was a 2004 Volvo Xc90. I parked my vehicle in my driveway on the evening of Friday, August 12, 2005. I left on vacation the following morning leaving my vehicle in the driveway. I returned from vacation late on the evening of August 21, 2005. The following morning when I went out to leave for work, the vehicle would not start. I called aaa in order to have the car jumped. It would not jump. I then called the Volvo dealership and they told me to call the Volvo hot line for a tow. The vehicle was towed to the gengras Volvo dealership in east hartford, CT on the morning of August 22, 2005 and it remains there at this time. The dealership service department reports that all of the computers are malfunctioning. They report this to be "an act of god" as in the car was struck by lightening. I was advised to report this to my insurance company which I did. An appraiser was dispatched to look at the vehicle and then special engineers from north eastern technical services. Inc in fall river, MA went to the Volvo dealership to view the vehicle. They removed two computer modules with permission of the service department and microscopically examined them to determine if any connectors, circuit board or component damage was present. Neither module showed any indicators of damage. At this point the claim has been denied by my insurance company saying that the problem is a warranty problem. Volvo disputes this saying it is "an act of god". The vehicle is less than two years old and has less than 24,000 miles on it. I have not been able to drive the vehicle since August 12, 2005. It does qualify for the lemon law, but more importantly, I found that there have been other reported electrical system failures of this model. I am concerned that this is indeed a problem with this particular model and the Volvo is trying to cover it up. It was 08/15/05 when this computer failure issue happened.

car   Computer Failure problem of Volvo S80

The car is a 2000 Volvo S80. VIN of the vehicle was YV1TS90D2Y_. At 70mph my car said reduced performance, and within 30 sec. My cruise control failed, the car reduced to 5mph, and there was no acceleration. I was in 5 lanes of rush hour traffic doing 70-80mph. An eighteen wheeler skidded approx. 50 feet in order to avoid hitting me. He then had to block off two lanes of traffic to assist me to the shoulder. My car would only coast. It was a near death experience for me. I'm thankful my children were not with me. After being turned off over night, my husband attempted to drive it to the Volvo dealership. He experienced the same. We were told that it was due to a computer chip malfunction. A chip which controls the throttle, fuel-injection, and cruise control. Wow! the service rep. "we haven't seen anymore problems after replacing the chip". We asked why has this not been recalled. The rep. Said "there have to be so many accidents and fatalities reported, before they will recall it". This has left me very disturbed, and reluctant to ever drive a Volvo again. I feel sure if it hadn't been for my quick use of the hazard lights, it could have been fatal. The truck driver also concurred. I do not want this to happen to anyone else. They may not be so lucky. This problem occurred on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004.

car   Computer Failure problem of Audi A6

The car involved was a 1999 Audi A6 avant. The VIN of this vehicle was WAUDA24B8X_. Transmission and computer broke while sitting in driveway. Shop which repaired car tried to find a used computer out of 3 other Audis and all were rusty. Mechanic informed me that water seeped behind dashboard and under driver's floorboard, rusting out computer ,and ruining transmission. Evidently, all other Audis showed the same water damage in the same area. Computer failed to send a signal to the dashboard that there was a problem. Fortunately, the transmission locked while the car was in park and not while we were on the road. We installed a rebuilt transmission and new computer. I am concerned because I drove a vehicle once when the transmission locked while in the middle of a road, coming to a dead stop. I believe this could be a dangerous situation. The failure date was Dec. 26, 2005.
