car   Starter Solenoid problem of Chrysler Town & Country

The vehicle is a 2003 Chrysler town and country. 11/2/11 while parked & running idle, van shuts off and all power is lost. After 15 min the van finally starts. However, after driving 200 feet it loses power again. Road side service jumps the battery, all seems to operate normally. Over the next couple of days the same thing happens many times. 11/8/11 a new battery is installed. (starter & alternator pass tests) new battery van still losses power when running idle parked/in operation(at traffic light). Frequency increases and eventually van loses power/ stalls while driving. At times van is able to start up right away, other times it has to sit for a few min. Some warning or indication that system may fail, van may shutter a bit/rpm gage needle fluctuates wildly. Another new glitch, the door power locks and power door locks alarm. Power door locks stop working 2/12. Fuse is replaced. Problem is fixed temp, locks stop working days later. Fuse is removed and reseated. Power locks work but only for a short period of time. This process is repeated several times. Battery cable is taken off in hopes of resetting power module but upon reconnecting cable, battery has no life. End result, battery is replaced, tests are run again on starter/alternator, they pass. Van runs okay for about a day, locks stop working again. Next door open alarm and interior lights are set off repeatedly. As of today all issues are still present but seem to come and go. Service/repairs since April 2011, brake system flush 2-11, coolant system 2-11, tune up 2-11, oil/filter 2/11, reconditioned trans/ rebuilt torque converter 4/11, muffler 5/11, solenoid and evap harness 6/11, oil/filter 7/11, gaskets/lower intake manifold 9/11, radiator 9/11, rear cooling hose 9/11, battery 11/11, thermostat 11/11, intake manifold and valve cover 11/11, crank shaft position sensor 11/11, oil/filter 11/11, fuel filter 2/12, tune up 2/12, oil/filter 2/12, battery 3/12. car   Starter Solenoid problem of Dodge Journey

Tried starting my 2010 Dodge Journey after work one evening and it wouldn't start. Got a boost to my battery and it didn't work, the vehicle stalled 3 times in one day. After looking on line I saw numerous people has the same issue. Came across the solenoid crank starter fuse replaced, and to my surprise the issue was fixed until a week. At the apple orchard with a car full of people and my car wouldn't start! finally got my car to an auto parts store, and thought possibly I had a bad sensor and got that replaced. My car is still having the same issue, and it starts right away in the a. M. Everyday for a week in the mornings it starts but stalled after I picked my son up from school and was stuck there for two hours! I don't know what to do, I googled the problem and its sad how many people are dealing with the same problem. And I thought I was getting a good reliable car for my family. . I purchased this vehicle February 2013, someone please help. It was Thursday, August 29, 2013 when this starter solenoid issue occurred.

car   Starter Solenoid problem of Dodge Grand Caravan

The vehicle involved is a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. The VIN of this vehicle was 2D8HN54X88_. Van would intermittently not start. Would turn key and van would click once like solenoid was activating but starter would not turn on. Turn key a second time and van might start. On one occasion, van would not start on several attempts. Jump starting would not work. Battery tested ok. Replaced starter, after couple days van again would not start. Took to dealer, dealer replaced starter. After a couple of months, van is again intermittently not starting. We have discovered if shift lever is moved into neutral, van will start. This evening (9/25/12), my wife went to turn on the high-beams and the windshield wipers came on and would not cut off. The low-beams remained on, but high-beams and the turn signals would not turn on. I disconnected the battery for ten minutes and everything seemed to work fine when I reconnected it. It was Sunday, June 24, 2012 when this starter solenoid issue happened.

car   Starter Solenoid problem of Ford Explorer Sport Trac

The vehicle involved is a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was 1FMZU67E91_. On Sunday the night before the incident the vehicle was used that day. In the afternoon around 3 pm it was taken to get gassed up for the work week. The next morning was chilly and it was started to warm the vehicle up. However, the vehicle didn't start at all. The dash lights, interior-exterior lights all have power to include power locks and windows. The battery tested good, the starter and solenoid tested good. The wire to the solenoid from the battery has power. The vehicle had not shown signs of faulty starting. Two to 3 times before this incident none of the lights would work but then miraculously work again. When the lights would work I'm mean the headlights, left and right turn signal, etc. It seemed the one way to get them to work again would be to adjust the steering wheel but that didn't always work. Why is this vehicle not starting when the day before is was working just fine and had not given any signs of failure?. This problem occurred on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013.

car   Starter Solenoid problem of GMC Envoy

The vehicle is a 2006 GMC Envoy xl. Filled my gas tank up and the fuel gauge went to empty after filling. Every time I fill the tank, it goes to empty and then after driving a bit the gauge starts re-registering. I have no idea if it is accurate anymore. Evaporator purge solenoid has also went out causing the check engine light to come on. The lack of an accurate gas gauge is a safety issue. Please recall this vehicle. This issue happened on Jul. 29, 2011.

car   Starter Solenoid problem of Acura MDX

The vehicle is a 2002 Acura Mdx. Driving back home from las vegas, nv about 150 miles away (utah) the a/t light light came on. Looked it up online it stated auto/transmission oil temp is high. Decided to pull over and let it cool down at the nearest gas station. Decided it was ok since the temp in utah went down this was around 2 pm. About 10 min later when we got back onto highway the a/t light came on again. Then the car started to smoke from the engine bay. We pulled over took a look at it realized no puncture to the lines and figured the pressure build up from tranny spat out from where you usually pour fluids in. We tried getting off hwy for safety and ended up middle on no where. Then we waited til 5 pm and as the weather cooled down we started the drive again. The engine was fine the transmission wouldnt let me push it pass 3 1/2 rpm so we drove about 50-70 mph. We reached colorado then spent the night. The next day it started to snow, the transmission decided to stop responding it will go into gears but it will stall and go but it wouldnt let me go past 2 rpm. Check egine light came on then we decided to take the car to autozone. The O2 test stated: low tranny oil, torque control solenoid sensor, and electrical sensor. Then we had the car tow to nearby transmission shop they ran some diagnostics and said the gears are slipping and the whole transmission needs to be rebuilt. Total cost in rebuilt 4100. 00 out the door. Car in on 3/4/13 car was done on 3/19/13. It was 03/03/13 when this starter solenoid issue occurred.

car   Starter Solenoid problem of Honda Accord

The vehicle is a 2004 Honda Accord. My wife had parked in a parking space with a very slight downward slope. There was another space ahead of her. She had been driving in a heavy rain. The car was operating normally. When she returned about 15 minutes later, the brake pedal felt hard. She started the engine and shifted into reverse. The car started coasting forward. The brakes remained hard and didn't stop the car. She stopped it by shifting to park, then turned off the engine. She repeated the attempt to back out of the space - same result. No error messages appeared. She called, and I drove to the scene. The rain had stopped. I felt the hardness of the brake pedal, although it felt more like a stiff spring than a non-power brake pedal to me. I pumped the springy pedal a few times; it didn't change. I started the engine, keeping my foot lightly on the brake. When the engine started, the stiffness immediately disappeared, the pedal felt normal, the transmission worked, and the car drove normally. I didn't get to experience the transmission problem. Later, I could find no problem with the brakes. The linkage has only a very slight amount of play, as it should. I depleted the vacuum supply by pumping the brakes with the engine off. The pedal felt very hard, unlike the springy feel in the parking lot. I have a phd in electrical engineering and a lot of car repair experience. This background leads me to conclude that it is extremely unlikely for the unrelated braking and transmission systems to fail simultaneously, and then recover simultaneously. There has to be another common cause, which leads me to suspect the computer system or possibly a sensor, particularly because this happened after driving in a heavy rain. The postulated failure mode is a compromised computer system that could partially activate the abs system and also fail to operate the reverse solenoid valve in the transmission. This issue happened on 03/25/12.

car   Starter Solenoid problem of Honda CR-V

The car is a 2007 Honda Cr-v. The VIN of this Cr-v is JHLRE38327_. Vehicle began resetting door locks whenever vehicle accelerated through 7 or 8 mph from stop. After awhile, driver side front and back doors would not lock automatically and intermittently the driver door could not be manually locked (heavy resistance when trying to flip latch). On a less frequent basis, the passenger side rear door would not auto or manually lock. For last several months the door lock solenoids fire like a machine gun whenever the doors are manually or automatically locked. Some times they all lock, other times one or more of the doors won't. Tolerated for many months as dealer wouldn't fix under warranty even though only 1000 miles and a few days past 12mo/36k coverage and didn't want to pay dealer estimated fix at up to 800 dollars. Now starting to pick up grandchildren for after school care and need to fix. Seems this problem has enough complaints to warrant recall?. This starter solenoid problem happened on Thursday, December 24, 2009.

car   Starter Solenoid problem of Infiniti M45

The vehicle having this issue was a 2003 Infiniti M45. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is JNKAY41E63_. The fuel gauge no longer works correctly. I ran out of gas in the middle of the street and was nearly rear ended several times before I was able to move the vehicle off the street. My wife, children, myself and other drivers were all put in harm's way due to this faulty issue. From reading the forums, this error on Nissan's part is plaguing many of these vehicles and will eventually affect them all. Please consider that this model M45 was sold in the us for only two model years (2003, 2004). The combined sales for these vehicles from 2002-2004 was only 7,855 before they abandoned the y34 platform and went to the new y50 platform. So the number of complaints will not be that of a Toyota camry. From what I gather on this website, at least 1% of all 03/04 M45 owners have filed a complaint with NHTSA. There are hundreds of others that have this issue but have not filed a complaint. This is one of the most discussed topics in the Infiniti owners forums. My vehicle is now showing two error codes on the obd-ii readout: p1444 (evap canister purge volume control solenoid valve) and p0462 (fuel level sensor). From what I understand, some people have had the fuel level sensor replaced by Infiniti, but this does not fix the issue. Others have had their instrument cluster sent off and replaced by a third party to repair Nissan's faulty factory soldering. This is the cause for the fuel gauge not working and for the error codes. Please consider this information and that of the other complaints to have Nissan issue a recall to fix this fuel gauge issue. Thank you. It was Sep. 14, 2011 when this starter solenoid issue happened.

car   Starter Solenoid problem of Jeep Grand Cherokee

The car was a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4. I bought this Jeep on 9/20/2013. The truck is equipped with the 5. 7 l hemi engine. Over the first 50 days and 1,157 miles of ownership I have encountered 18 episodes of the vehicle stalling, with 14 of those stalls occurring on major highways in traffic. The stalls occur with no warning. The vehicle immediately decelerates to a stop and I am left with no power, no steering and no brakes. One dealership blamed it on a bad battery. The dealership which sold me the Jeep diagnosed the problem as a m. A. P. Sensor, which they replaced. That did not correct the problem as the stalling problem continues to occur. The most recent was on 11/9/2013 while driving in the center lane of the PA turnpike at 65 mph. The Jeep stalled and came to a stop, with a semi tractor-trailer behind me. I have no idea how that truck driver was able to swerve in time to miss me. Mechanics and on-line forums identify possible causes for the stalling as 1. A defective (ecm) electronic control modules; 2. Shorts in the wiring harness; 3. Sparks plugs; 4. Egr valve; 5. Ignition coil; 6. Pcv valve; 7. Transmission solenoid pack. There are no diagnostic codes stored in the obd-ii system. One school of thought is that 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee and commanders equipped with the 5. 7 l hemi engine are extremely sensitive to radio frequency interference from the waste spark on the coil. As other complaints have noted, this is an obvious and persistent problem with Jeeps equipped with the hemi engine, and Chrysler has turned a deaf ear to the complaints. Perhaps they are waiting for the fatalities to occur. Why NHTSA hasn't done more to order a recall is beyond my comprehension. The problem has been reported on for years with no action taken by Chrysler. This Jeep is, for lack of a better word, a deathtrap. At best it cannot be trusted, it is unsafe and unreliable. At worst it is an accident waiting to happen!. This starter solenoid issue occurred Sat., Sep. 24, 2011.

car   Starter Solenoid problem of Jeep Cherokee

I bought my 2001 Jeep Cherokee sport last year Feb 2012 and multiple issues have been occurring. 3 months into ownership the electrical and fuel systems either stopped working or gave me constant issues (all parts factory). Now im bringing my car back into the shop because the windows wont roll down (again), the evap solenoid is leaking and misfires. The carfax is clean with no accidents and I baby this car. Jeeps are cheaply made and not meant to last past 100,000 even after services. This starter solenoid problem happened on Monday, February 20, 2012.

car   Starter Solenoid problem of Lincoln Mark Viii

The car involved is a 1998 Lincoln Mark Viii. The brakes can quit working after the automatic parking brake release solenoid fails to release the rear brakes when the transmission lever is moved out of park. The rear brakes will then overheat after several miles, which causes the brake fluid to eventually boil and be expelled from the master cylinder. The first symptom is that the brake pedal goes almost all the way to the floor and braking becomes erratic. Shortly thereafter, the braking system totally failed to stop the car due to lack of brake fluid in the master cylinder. Pumping the brake pedal rapidly and sheer luck are the only things that have prevented a major crash (so far. . . )! the rear brake pads and fluid have been replaced, but there seems to be no fix available that would prevent the problem from re-occurring. This safety defect appears to be caused by the parking brake position sensor switch failing to notify the computer software that the parking brake is set,, so the controlling software doesn't bother to release the brake at drive-off. The warning light also fails to indicate a problem to the driver, which makes this a very dangerous combination of hardware and software failure after this problem happened to my wife twice, I began to drive the car to see what was happening. Sure enough, after a couple of days, the problem occurred exactly as described above. The only workaround is to use the emergency mechanical release before driving off. If one forgets to do this, there is no way of knowing that the rear brakes are dragging and impending brake failure is a certainty. . The failure date was 03/04/11.

car   Starter Solenoid problem of Mazda Protege

Last November the "check engine" light came on in my 2001 Mazda Protege. I immediately brought it to the Mazda dealership, who said that their was an error with the code and they cleared it and recalibrated it. They said it had gone off for no apparent reason. Three months later (shortly after the warranty expired) the light came on again. This time the dealership claimed that the code said that the gas cap was not screwed on tight. This was not true! when that light came on I immediately checked the gas cap since the owners manual told me that was all I could do myself (it was tight as a drum). The dealership claimed otherwise-it was my word against theirs and naturally they won. Two weeks later the light again came back on. When I took it back to the dealership, they told me that the code this time said my solenoid was bad (the car was running great). The charged me $427 to replace it and said I should have no more problems. Another couple of weeks goes by and the light again goes off. This time they kept it in the shop for 3 days. They claimed that the code indicated it was the solenoind (how could that be since it was a brand new one?) they cleared the code and test drove it for 50 miles, it did not come back on. I believe that the computer controlling that light is defective and giving out erroneous codes since I know that my gas cap was securely tightened, and how code it point to the solenoid after it had been replaced with a new one. The dealership will not refund those repair bills and the Mazda customer service would only refer me back to the dealership. They did not want to hear any statements from me about a possibly defective part. Told me to get an independent auto repair person's assessment. I cannot afford that! please look into this for me. The dealership did tell me that I'd never be able to get my car smogged with that light on and I can't live with running back and forth to the shop every time it goes off. This starter solenoid problem happened on May. 28, 2004.

car   Starter Solenoid problem of Mercedes Benz SLK230

The car involved was a 2004 Mercedes Benz Slk230. My black mercedes 2004, 230slk kompressor, l4, 2. 4l, supercharged. VIN [xxx] had the engine control module me-sfi malfunction indicator lamp "check engine light" came on and was diagnosed at the beverly hills Mercedes Benz dealership with misfiring in the engine (due to the camshaft solenoid and the mass alrflow senor (O2 senor) was damaged, with a major oil leak. I believe that oil has leaked into the mass air flow senor from wicking. The service department replaced the solenoid 111-051-01-77-05 and starter line 271-150-27--33, plug 111-997-01-86-05 and cable tie 002-997-24-90, but not the closing cover 271-051-00-32 which is part of the recall. A electronic diagnostic was performed after the repair was made with a major oil leak present and the air flow senor defective. I doubt that they correctly fixed the recall as the oil leak is from the same area. Mass air flow sensor should be added to the recall, as the camshaft solenoid is leaking oil into the mass air flow senor. The me-sfi needs to be added, as the light will not turn off without the permanent and registered faults being erased even after the repair is made, thereby depreciating the value of the car. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6). This issue happened on 06/25/2010.

car   Starter Solenoid problem of Mercedes Benz E350

The vehicle is a 2006 Mercedes Benz E350. I had my car maybe 2 months before I started having problems transmission first they said a transmission module was burned out and it had a recall I took it back several times I wasn't notified of this issue but kept having it. (park place dallas) then I took it to austin they worked on it several times same issue now Nov the issue was so bad I was going down the street 25 mph couldn't go any faster and when they picked up the car they said they couldn't find it but a solenoid switch had burned out I thought it was the heater they said it was a recall on this part also 3 weeks later burning again dragging again when driving they said the solenoid switch recalled again. They kept the car until 2/25/2008 since christmas eve . I called corporate and they had a rep who contacted mercedes of georgetown ,TX their resolution was for me to pay another 15-20 thousand dollars and they would give me a new vehicle . I called an attorney who said they could switch VIN numbers with my lender and replace this junk that I am driving. I came to mercedes looking for a dependable car gave them $20,000 down on a $58,000 car thinking that for at least 7 to 8 years for this price I would have a dependable car this car is junk why must I continue to add on to my payment due to their mess every item recalled has been recalled at least 2 times it's also not fair they didn't notify other buyers what will they do when they no longer have warranties . car   Starter Solenoid problem of Nissan Versa

2011 Nissan Versa was taken into the dealership for not shifting out of park. At the time, powertrain warranty was no longer in effect. Dealer advised, that the shifter solenoid is not functioning and needs to be replaced. The cost for the shifter solenoid is approximately $600. 00 dollars. I conducted a research and discovered Nissan has this problem with most of their vehicles at low mileage. Nissan has not issued a recall on the vehicle. In addition, the suspension is also making noises and has been diagnosed by an automotive technician, who has advised the strut needs to be replaced. The vehicle makes clicking noised when turning to the right or left. The cost for oem strut is approximately $ 200. 00. I am having to many issues with this vehicle and considered to trade it in if Nissan does not recall vehicles. This problem occurred on Tuesday, Sep. 10, 2013.

car   Starter Solenoid problem of Nissan Pathfinder

The vehicle is a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder. I recently brought up to the attention of Nissan a problem I've been experiencing with my car. The "check engine service" light is on and it just doesn't turn off. Let me explain. When I first notice the problem, around 6 months ago, I took the car to a dealer. However, just to hook up the car to the computer of the dealership is over $100. Not to get fixed, just to hook up. I think that's outrageous. So I took it to 2 different places, a local mechanic and autozone, both equipped with computer hook ups, capable of "reading" Nissan codes. At first, the code indicated a problem with the "r" valve timing solenoid, which I proceeded to change. However, the light continued on. I took it back, and now it was the "l" side, which I also changed. These two changes cost me $500. But the light continues on. Now is giving codes for the cam/crank sensor, dirt build up, the ivt control solenoid open or shorted. At this point is when I contacted Nissan. I was assigned a case number (11149465) and eventually talked to a beverly, 800/343-6913, ext 458103. She indicated that there was nothing they could if I did not take the car to a Nissan dealer. They still would charge over $100 just to connect to the computer. This is in addition to the monies already spent. This is a problem that other owners of Nissan vehicles have experienced in the past (pathfinder, 2002) and problem. That I had been taking the car to the dealer for the regular maintenance check up since I bought it new, which could be easily verified. That the car has less than 60,000 miles. However, that was Nissan final position. I can provide the bill paid and diagnosis. This problem is, and has been, a headache for us owners, not to mention the expense and time commitment. All I was requesting was to get this problem finally solved, without incurring in additional expenses and unnecessary waste of time. This issue happened on Fri., Nov. 16, 2012.

car   Starter Solenoid problem of Saturn ION

The vehicle was a 2007 Saturn Ion. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1G8AW15F07_. 3/2014 recall letter 14063, 4/2014 2nd recall letter,4/11/2014 car to dealer,5/16/2014 ignition replaced, "repair other ignition" accelerator pedal, throttle body, fuel induction sensor, throttle body sensor, quoted $560. 00,charged $634. 29, gm promised price assistance "repair other ignition-have not honored their word. Picked up car 5/16/2014 on 5/20/2014 <100 miles encountered same issue. 5/22/2014 car returned -to dealer, key stuck in ignition, service mgr witnessed issue, claims - solenoid @gearshift to ignition not registering park, states"I have seen alot of these recalls, gm is going to replace anything remotely connected to this recall but is "customer bill". Soleniod quote $400. 00 additional to $634. 29. I am inclined to believe if it is "remotely connected" it should be included in this recall. I firmly believe gm has employed this "other than ignition" strategy to recoup their losses on the back end by employing this "customer bill" phrase. The dealer has not shown any of the parts that were replaced or any evidence to support their claim. I welcome the opportunity to share my experience in great detail with the NHTSA and any congressional committe that is designated to investigate this gm recall. This issue happened on April 11, 2014.

car   Starter Solenoid problem of Saturn ION

The vehicle involved was a 2005 Saturn Ion. VIN of the vehicle was 1G8AJ54FX5_. Brake transmission shift interlock (btsi) solenoid. The key would get stuck in ignition and not release, or I would be unable to turn the car on after inserting the key. Note: a couple of times I could not turn off the car, which is a safety hazard. I had to force the key to turn the ignition cylinder to the off postition over several minutes. I have replaced ignition switch 3 times and ignition housing twice since buying my Saturn Ion new in 2005. Therefore, I am now on my fourth ignition switch since the car was manufactured. I acknowledge that ignition switches have been found defective in certain gm car models and years and a recall is in place. However, I believe that ignition problems in gm Saturn Ions are additionally complicated by btsi solenoid and switch failure. In addition to replacing the ignition switch and housing, I have also had to replace the btsi solenoid and switch twice (may 2010, 50,263 mi; Feb 2013, 84,715 mi) due to the part's failure in order to fully address the ignition switch problems of my Saturn Ion. Please investigate the additional issue of btsi solenoid and switch failure as being a contributing factor in the overall ignition saftey problems of gm Saturn Ions. The failure date was May. 6, 2010.

car   Starter Solenoid problem of Toyota RAV4

The car was a 2003 Toyota Rav4. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is JTEGH20V23_. Often (and unpredictably), vehicle does not accelerate from stop. It creeps forward as tack jumps, then with a loud "clunk" it jerks into 2nd (or 3rd) gear and suddenly leaps forward. Check engine light goes on and off. Took vehicle to Toyota dealer more than once and told "no problem found. " when this issue was finally demonstrated, the Toyota dealership reported that solenoid b is faulty and entire transmission needs to be replaced starting at $4600. Now I read that many owners of 2001-3 Rav4s have exact problem caused by a faulty emc that should have been replaced when Toyota originally admitted the problem in 2006. Instead the damage to my vehicle has progressed to a repair 4 times that amount. I have found no reasonable repair rate so far. The failure date was 07/05/13.

car   Starter Solenoid problem of Buick Lesabre

The vehicle involved was a 2000 Buick Lesabre. Vehicle identification number (VIN): 1G4HP54KOY_. Transmission no longer shifts into 3rd or overdrive. With shifter in overdrive and in stopped position once you take your foot off the brake to begin acceleration the torque converter slams to a stop and the engine shuts off. Transmission fluid full at all times, engine warmed up. Repeated stalling, repeated tachometer quits. Repeated engine quits when you place in overdrive from neutral. Must start movement by placing in lower gears 1 2 or 3. This transmission never shifts out of second gear. Put it on code analyzer and got 2 codes that indicated pc solenoid torque converter solenoid issues. Seems like these 2000 Buicks have recurring defects and gm won't standby their product. Why on earth would a company that designs cars ever put a battery under a car seat. One spark with hydrogen gas under that seat could kill an infant in a car seat if it exploded. . Come on!!!.
