All was fine until this year in March, where my steering was becoming very hard to do. When I turned my wheel, it would make sounds as if it was breaking and I needed to use a little more force to turn the wheel. As of may 15, 2014, I took my car to a chevy dealership where a family member asked if they could see if any parts on my car was on recall and there are several recalls for the Malibu. My steering is getting worse by the day and my car is driving horribly. I have a 4 yr and this is my only transportation to and from work. I'm afraid to drive too far because the steering wheel might get stuck and may cause an accident. I wanted to report this before something actually happened. This problem occurred on 03/01/2014.

Steering Is Tight problem of Dodge Dakota
Noticed a problem with the power steering on my 2004 Dodge Dakota at the beginning of April. The steering is stiff and hard to turn. It requires assistance to bring the steering wheel back to center. It doesn't matter what speed you are going. It seems to get better after about 30 minutes of driving but after sitting for a while the problem is back. I bought the truck last year as a second vehicle and now regret doing so. I have had the truck to the dealership twice. 4/14/14 they replaced the lower ball joints, front rotors and power steering pump. That did not fix the problem. 4/24/14 they replaced the steering rack. $2,300. 00 later the problem still exists. It is going back to the dealership 5/14/14 but I have my doubts the problem will be fixed after reading other complaints online. I have contacted Chrysler about this and have been assigned a case manager. I am waiting to hear what they have to say. I do not wish to spend anymore money trying to fix a design flaw in their steering components. The steering poses a safety issue and I do not feel comfortable driving it very far. This problem occurred on Tue., Apr. 1, 2014.

Steering Is Tight problem of Dodge Grand Caravan
The car involved was a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. I was driving down the road and I noticed that my steering was tight. When I looked down, my rpm's were on 0, my car had shut off and the traction control light came on. I pulled over to the side of the road, put car in park and it started right up. This happened again a few weeks after that, going the same speed. Brakes & steering gave out, was able to coast to side of road, put car in park and it started right up. On March 28th I was driving into work, going approx. 45-50 mph, noticed that my steering got tight, car had shut off again. Thankfully I was in the outside lane so I could pull over. Car started right up. It happened a 4th time on April 2, 2014. This time I felt the steering wheel getting tight, I put car in neutral and it started right up. Every time this happens my car shuts off first and then there is a 1-2 second delay before the traction control steering light comes on. My car is at the dealership right now, waiting to hear. I checked on the ignition recall for the 2010 Grand Caravans and I was told that my VIN# does not fall into the recall dates. This is very dangerous for myself, my family and others on the road. I am afraid to drive my car!!. This steering is tight problem happened on February 5, 2014.

The vehicle was a 2008 Ford F-250 sd. VIN of the vehicle was 1FTSW21R68_. I bought a set of wheel and tires a year ago, they are stock size. The day the tires and wheels were put on my truck the steering was tight and would not straighten back out without resistance in the steering wheel. I went to the tire place and they advised me that it was a bad steering gear. I took the truck to my local Ford dealership and was advised I had a bad steering gear. They also said that the steering gear was on back order and they didn't know when they could get one. But nothing about an investigation. The response by Honda is not adequite. The problem is that the steering wheel is hard to turn at low speeds (such as turning into and out of parking spots). Although this defect with the power steering pump only occurs at low speeds it it still a safety issue. The fact that is is very hard to turn the sterring wheel can reasonable lead to pedestrian accident such as pedestrian becoming pinned against a car. Honda extended the warrenty on this part to 7 years / 100,000 miles. I have under 80,000 miles on my car but Honda claims I am a few months beyond the 7 year date. Honda should be required to further extend this warranty as many people will not be able to afford this expensive repair and it could leave to injury to persons in parking lots. This steering is tight problem happened on 01/06/14.

The car involved is a 2013 Honda Accord. About 2 weeks ago when I was turning right I noticed some difficulty in steering (the steering was difficult and tight) so I took the car in for service. The incident could not be reproduced but noted by the dealer. On the 6th I was driving home and turning right onto my street and the steering went completely out. I was afraid I was about to end up in my neighbors yard and into my neighbor! it took very great effort to steer the car and steering warning light came on. Wtih much difficulty I drove the car slowly to the dealer and they witnessed the problem. I recently heard from the service dept and they told me a "code" appeared on this and they were checking the "rack" - there was no issue with steering with the car moving straight forward. I will be working with the dealership for a replacement vehicle as I don't trust this particular vehicle. Also, the dealer is very helpful and trying to do the right thing and I beleive has my best interests at heart (they are very reputable). I have filed a complaint with your agency and have an odi number. This issue happened on Thursday, June 6, 2013.

The car was a 2011 Hyundai Elantra. The car pulls to the left/right. The steering wheel is sticky. When the wheel is left straight, it will go straight but a small turn to left/right results in very jerky and unsafe ride for higher mileage speed. It is incredibly difficult to drive for longer period of time and on icy roads due to driving behavior. Hyundai says it is because of the electronic power steering. I don't care if it is that. It jerks to left/right while driving which is painful. I have changed tires and brakes thinking those were the culprit. This needs to be fixed before someone gets in a wreck and die. While my wife was backing out of the driveway she attempted to turn the steering wheel to the right when she noticed the steering wheel was to hard for her to turn. The vehicle having this issue was a 2008 Mazda Tribute. Every other time that I turn my car on, the power steering is gone. The steering wheel is extremely tight and very difficult to move. If I turn the car off and wait a few seconds, then turn it back on while pulling hard to turn the wheel, the power steering seems to "come back. " this is very difficult for many reasons. One, I'm worried that the power steering is going to go out while driving, not just when I turn the car on and off. Also, I feel like im wasting a lot of money on gas by having to turn my car on and off multiple time. Lastly, it just jus tplain difficult. It takes a lot of upper body strength to manually turn an entire Mini SUV. This is unacceptable. The failure date was Saturday, March 22, 2014.

My wife drove from las vegas on 15 fwy back home when the engine light came on. About 10 minutes later, the vehicle pulled to the left so she steered to the right but it pulled to the left again. While the vehicle was pulling, she applied brakes to slow it down but it seem like the vehicle went faster and faster. She heard a sound "shhh" sound like a vacuum leaks. The steering wheel was pulling too hard to the left so she could not hold on anymore. The care then went off road and rolled over, landing in the section separating the cars going to las vegas and the cars going back. After landing she screamed how the baby, how the baby, he was 14 months, how every body--her daughters and parents. . . All 4 tires are SUV michelin, just replaced about a month. We believe some things was wrong with the vehicle. This problem occurred on Tue., Jun. 21, 2005.

Vehicle has become increasing difficult to steer and requires manual strength to turn the wheel. At this time we are not able to drive the vehicle, the steering is too hard and would be too dangerous to drive. Doing research on this vehicle I have found that it is the same problem that other marquis' have experience and for which there is a recall. The current recall only applies to the years of 2005 to 2011. Calling the Ford customer service department did not produce any help or results, only an apology that my car was not included in the recall. Ford should be required repair all marquis with this same problem or at the very least provide help for those who call their customer service department complaining of the same issue. It was October 16, 2013 when this steering is tight issue happened.

The car involved was a 1997 Mercury Sable. I should have learned that Sable was a bad car after the engine of my mother's '87 Sable exploded, caught fire and busted through the floor of the car beside the gas pedal and brake (1993). Luckily she was not in the car. The engine had been off and sitting in park for five minutes when this happened. I bought my 97 Sable in 2001. I have never had a car with so many constant problems. I spend about $1200 a year fixing it continually. I'm currently having electrical problems with the radio going out while in reverse or when I press the brake. The window on the passenger side won't move up or down unless the driver and the passenger press the buttons at the same time. The interior light stays on, so we have to unplug the fuse to get it to go off. The seat belt safety light and the window button lights keep clicking on and off. Once again, the steering wheel is hard to turn even though the power steering fluid is at the right level. I have to get the wheels aligned several times a year. The car always makes a humming noise and does not block out the sound of wind. The shoulder straps of seat belts alway lock into place too tight. Name the problem. . . I've probably been through it. I will never buy another Ford/ Mercury again even if it is the #1 selling car. This problem occurred on Apr. 15, 2003.

Top of drive had brakes on, then let off little to allow car to go forward. As I eased off liitle on brakes down car started to accelerate to fast so tried to apply pressure to brakes and went to floor, started pumping brakes and nothing car would not slow down to avoid going through garage door or side of house veered to right steering was little tight all could think was keep pumping brakes! car went off embankment airborne landed on neighbors driveway empact shook me. Car is proceeding through their backyard still pumping brakes no results I see huge tree headed for frantic to stop car next I know I am dased airbag deployed car is on drivers side up aganist tree see smoke coming out front. Ema had be pulled out backseat through passenger side. Car went off 6' striaght retaining wall tires pulled cinder blocks down kept me from head on tree. My brakes failed person towed my car while incline said had no brakes, but body shop said have brakes they're not going total car or check master cylinder $13,000 damage it can be repaired, but can't drive this car it is not safe for me. My brakes failed. I bought new 2012 Altima my 3rd one, car 4 mos. Old 4,000 miles this shouldn't happen. Learned recall sent out 2012-2013 power steering bolts. I had go by ambulance to er I have been hurt. Nissan making me gather info send to investigate if defect. Taken so long ins gives rental car 25 days Nissan won't provide one until through investigating for defect which hasn't statred. My car is not safe and I have prove to them. Your car should not hurt you!. This steering is tight problem happened on Monday, December 31, 2012.

I first observed that once in a while while turning the steering was stiff and the wheel will not turn back to its neutral position, and the car will over steer. It felt like there was no power steering and you could hear some squeaking noise from the steering. Since at first it happens on and off during turning, everytime I took it to the dealer, they said was nothing wrong, it was still under warranty at that time. . After driving it for a couple of months there was an increase in the incidence and the steering at turn was getting harder and there was and increase in over steer that I would have to go slower than usual to avoid other vehciles. By that time I brought it back to the dealer, and they said that was some rusting and corrosion at the steering shaft and had to be replaced and by then the warranty had expired. This problem occurred on Thursday, Mar. 1, 2007.

I bought my 2005 Cadillac Srx at 43,000 miles June 25,2012 now it's January 23,2014 and the power steering goes out at 72,000 miles. There was a huge leak steering was very tight and stability was in use. My father said it looks like the pump was replaced once that's ridiculous with the low miles my car has. I think Cadillac really needs to fix the problem they have recalls on the 2004's they need to fix the 2005's too! it's a burden right now I'm paying for a car that's sits in the garage now!. It was Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014 when this steering is tight issue occurred.
